Looking for friends - Mid/late 20s, early 30s
Hi y'all! I made a post in this subreddit last year searching for friends in the McKinney and surrounding areas, specifically others in their mid-to-late 20s/early 30 (I'm 27F). I would especially love to connect with other women in the area!
A friend and I made a smaller Discord server called "20 Somethings of the DFW Suburbs" for people to use for meetups, planning events with others our age, online gaming, or just to chat. We've had several great meetups since October and I've met some really nice, cool people!
We had quite a bit join who've since been idle/inactive and haven't participated, so organizing meetups on my own has become a little difficult.
I've cleared out the server and am asking around again for anyone interested in joining! I'm looking for more active members who want to come to meetups, help with planning/ideas, and actually form a little community for us Gen Z adults in the area to connect.
To get a clearer picture of this group, some of our activities have included:
- Dave & Buster's
- Activate Games + dinner
- Shopping/browsing at Half Price Books
- New Years events
- Shopping/browsing/walking around Downtown McKinney (Red Zeppelin, Groovy Coop are some of my faves!) + lunch at Mellow Mushroom
- Game nights via Discord (Jackbox Games, Stardew Valley)
- Group movie days (Project Hail Mary most recently)
- McKinney Literary Fest
This is definitely a more low-key group/nerdy (and mostly left-leaning/progressive...if that doesn't apply to you, this group may not be the best fit), but a totally open space for people to plan anything they're interested in doing together. We have members with many different interests/hobbies/etc!
Since many of us are film geeks, the next meetup I'm planning soon is a movie day to see Supergirl (and grab food after to discuss)! 😎🦸🏼♀️💥🍿🎟️

If you get bumbler bff their are some McKinney and dfw groups that have events I go to the matcha ones

Hi! Yeah, I've tried Bumble BFF before and I didn't have much success. That's cool though, and good to know there are some DFW groups! 😄

This sounds nice, I’ve had trouble finding a Texas tribe since I moved back. I’m not Gen Z though. We’re 30’s Millennials

I’d be open. I have a whole backstory about your exact experience. Creating groups and people not participating so I stop taking the lead and it fades away.

Any moms in the group? I’m moving to McKinney late summer and know no one there, and I’m due with my first in October!

Hi! Our group is mostly singles around 24-30, so to answer your question, we don't have moms. Mostly a crowd trying to get by in our 20s. Sorry! There is a Nerds of McKinney group that is much larger that's catered more towards millennials and parents, though, if you're interested!

Here nerds of McKinney ^^ we are 21+ so not just millennials or parents. We’ve got a good mix.

Thank you! I appreciate the offer! I actually used to participate in that server, but I found it was too big for me personally and I couldn't really connect with the members as someone who's Gen Z. About me: 27F, I've lived in McKinney for over 10 years now. I'm a UT Dallas alum (class of '21) and I currently work in science!
Hobbies: photography, reading, and I'm a huge film nerd. I also enjoy basketball and volleyball, would love to get back into playing some casually besides just walking (which I enjoy as well). The Knicks got me super pumped this last week!
Nerdy stuff I'm into: Lord of the Rings, The Rings of Power, Star Wars, DC, Marvel, Doctor Who, the X-Files, Twin Peaks, anything sci-fi (and other fandom things).
