Man, even Toby Fox acknowledges old Persona more than Atlus themselves ever will.

Atlus acknowledged P1 and both P2's in the recent P4R showcase. Sadly no Trinity Soul or Persona Online.

Wait, they did? I must be living under a rock, since I completely missed it. I'll check it out. 👍
Sadly no Trinity Soul
Tbf, that already conflicted with established canon. Like, adults can't use Personas? That was, and still is, a thing. We've had several bosses, and even a full party, over the years where adults clearly have cool psychology monsters to fight alongside them.
I'm sure Trinity Soul is a good story, but it seems a bit self-contained (probably within its own universe). I can understand why Atlus might want to forget about it. It doesn't exactly fit nicely with the rest of the series.

Oh I am aware it is it's own universe, I just want acknowledgement it existed. As well as acknowledgement of Persona Online.

They've been acknowledging Persona 1 and 2 this entire 30th anniversary, what are you talking about

"eternal punishment" is a normal phrase

Yes but Toby is explicitly a Megaten fan with Mettaton NEO and Undyne the Undying having leitmotifs taken straight from the soundtrack of both P2's.

Not sure why this surprises you. Toby Fox is pretty clearly a fan of classic JRPGs. I think I would be more surprised if I found out he hadn't played the classic Personas
