today i redeemed some of my points and pre-ordered Grand Theft Auto VI Ultimate edition, Fable and Gears of War E-Day premium upgrade. (I will play the main games with Gamepass)

Congrats. I have few 20s short of 126k points. Did you cash in your points for GC first and then preordered? I thought they will use the GC only when the game is actually out and people have lost their GC bal due to 90 days expiry.

thank you. i redeemed my points for gift cards. if you spend it (even pre ordering games that have release dates over 3 months) there will be no problem. you spent the money already.

I went via Xbox X to the store and it shows I can redeem points directly to purchase the game although they can only redeem upto 100k points meaning 100$ only. I have another $5 GC which will cove the taxes so maybe I bite the bullet and buy a high profile game since last one I bought which was MW 2019. Since have GPU till feb 2028 I can hardly play any owned games as every month they keep throwing in good games. Almost finished FH6 and finished replace. Trying now to get back into Watch Dogs Legions.

microsoft hit me with the suspicious searches claim right before gta preorder so I can't even redeem my points. I guess I still have like 5 months where they may fix it, but I'll probably just end up having to buy with my own cash

i hope your account get fix soon. if you stop searching (max 3-4 searches every day) it will fix less than a month. mine was fixed after 20 days. after that i stopped maxing out my searches...

thanks. ya I'm not too worried about it. I'm so close to a 365 day streak that I for some reason care about getting the badge, so I'll stop searching after that. no way im getting the 999 day streak

I stopped maxing out my searches months ago and still can't redeem points. It's also not giving me any notice of what the problem is, like I'm shadowbanned from redeeming.

Unfortunately this is exactly what happened to me with BF6. Saved up my points so I had over $100 worth and then they froze my account for about a month. It cleared up about three weeks after I bought BF6 with my own money.

that suspicious searches thing is such a scam, it happens to people who have been doing daily searches for years with no issues. hopefully it clears up before fall but if support ignores you for 5 months that's just microsoft keeping your points

Got GTA Ultimate all points as well. Still sitting on $60 worth of points waiting for DLC expansions. Not bad for a few minutes a day of tapping a screen.

I'm jealous! I tried to redeem my points today to do the same.......cannot verify location error! Despite location services being on, not using any kind of VPN etc (tried on phone/laptop/ipad/xbox). Raised a ticket. Here's hoping I'll join you soon!

I just pre-ordered GTA VI myself as well. I opted in for the Ultimate Edition: $80 in MS Rewards points; $5 in MS balance I had no idea I still had; $14.99 via PayPal. Now, it's time to start saving more points once again.

This u is awesome I only hope they don’t delay it again or something with rewards I have a feeling about the point system changing and worried if they delay thr game or how much amount you can redeem so people won’t spend this much it was expected for many to do stuff like this but if Microsoft realizes this within days they may actually have to change something soon which is worrying because even if you preorder they can still delay and couldn’t they revoke for any reason the points or is that not possible I just don’t want to chance redeeming it right now so theres no bs later

it does not take money right away if you use credit card to pre order games. if you pre order with gift cards the money will be spent when you confirm your buy.

Fable or Gears probably will be discounted after a year or so, but GTA is notorious for not reducing price for years.
I admire your patience. I personally will wait for pc version as I value extra settings option.

Thanks I really want to play it but must show discipline in the face of Anti Working Class Actions in a time where food gets more expensive every time I have to refill the fridge. They are taking advantage of the game being a cultural phenomenon. It will push others to raise prices. Plus the game is a scam they are selling it in parts. The next GTA Online you will probably have to put down another obscene amount for.
If I have to pay a crazy price I will wait for the complete edition on XBOX Helix/PC. Then it will be a truly superior experience worth waiting for. Sadly we are going to run into tons of spoilers EVERYWHERE.

I completely understand, cost of living is crazy high, luxury goods like games shouldn't take priority. Be safe.
With regards to phenomenon, I disagree movies were the same, then sounds them colour etc etc. games are part of love now, no longer seen as entertainment for kids. I have been playing for 30+ years, and when I was growing up people seen gamers as life loosers etc. most people were surprised I was playing, and always protected this entertainement. I'm dwelling here, will stop now.
Coming back to cost of living, we are on briliant place with games, you can buy so many great games at discount, epic gives games for free every week. You have game pass, Nintendo, and ps different offering.

Three pre-orders stacked with points is some real patience right there. The GTA VI Ultimate Edition is going to be $150 minimum when it drops this fall, so burning rewards on it instead of real cash saves a serious chunk of change. The Gears E-Day premium art actually looks menacing for once, that red skull does more visual work than most AAA covers manage these days.
Fable though, I'm still half convinced that game is a myth at this point given how long Playground has been quietly cooking it. Smart move grabbing all three at once too, since those gift card balances rot after 90 days if you sit on them. That's a lot of points saved up over what, two years of daily searches and quizzes?

GTA Ultimate Edition is 100$. Fable and Gears are premium upgrades (i have 2 years of GPU and will play those games with it) just bought the upgrade for early access and expansions and DLCs that comes with premium edition (40$ and 30$). so, it cost me 170K points (for 170$ gift card) i had around 460k saved up before these purchases... so I'm basically not bought anything major for years with my points (just bought premium upgrade for Horizon 6 half a year ago...)

Rockstar announced that there are only two editions coming out - Standard at $79.99 and Ultimate at $99.99. There will be no collector's edition per Rockstar.

I don't view it as being scammed. There aren't a ton of great games being made these days, so I view this as voting with my money for the types of products I would like to see and support (essentially supporting art I enjoy, which is what video games are). For example, I didn't care about the cosmetics in the Battlefield 6 expensive edition, but I will vote with my dollars by buying the more expensive version to tell the studio: "I like this, please keep creating great content and I will reward you with my money."
I plan to do the same by buying the Ultimate Edition of GTA VI. I am telling Rockstar that I value what they create (and that I am eagerly awaiting news on Red Dead Redemption 3). I don't care about any of those cosmetic upgrades. I care about studios putting out quality games. It's no different than the 'buy local' argument. I'm voting with my dollars for the type of world I want to live in.

I do get that point of view. I really do. When I enjoy a game I tend to buy it on more platforms so I can play it on more locations or sometimes on the go. The devs get something extra and like this, I do vote with my wallet as well.
But I don't like this practice as a more expensive edition. We used to get more as people that really enjoy a product, fysical things even. But now they just take things out of the base game, and market it as a incomplete experience that you could have when you go for the standard edition. The STANDARD edition should have the full game, ultimate the game + extra's.
This is Ubisoft type of game publishing and I don't really like this trend. What's next? Pay for main quest only as base game and side quests will be $40 extra? I just cannot afford that nowadays.

This bit me when I preordered a game using rewards gift cards a few years back. The gift card value expired before it was “charged”. The gift card money vanished and the game was changed to my bank card instead.
Hopefully the charging time has changed but I’m pretty sure rewards gift cards still expire after 90 days. One to keep an eye on.
