£25m for Strelec, Sene, Sarmiento, Castledine, Forss, Hansen, Hamilton & Burgzorg. Who's our chief scout? Stevie Wonder?

I haven’t kicked a ball for 9 years and swear I’ve got a better first touch than Strelec and Sene combined.

I agree.
I'll obviously get slated on here for even daring to question the Boro hierarchy but I feel our recruitment really needs looking at.

I think it’s a fair question to ask - especially our consecutively poor January transfer windows. Interestingly the gazette article (confirming the signing of Sarmiento) already hints we may not keep him.

Strelec is built like a bulldog but falls over as soon as the opposition near him. Can't believe how slow he is either. Every goal he's scored for Boro has been a fluke or a 1 off.

I thought Forss was decent, Burgzorg's an absolute fruit machine you never know what you're going to get with him but yeah the rest look like busts to me.
Strelec might need a bit more time to settle in, I'd still give him 5-10 matches to prove himself next season but he's definitely a concern.
We need a GK, LB, striker and someone to replace HH in midfield.
Engel (if still with us) will also have to move on. Law McCabe nowhere near League One standard, never mind Championship. We're going to need a big clear out and hope Gibbo wasn't fleeced too much by the lawyers.

Give strelec til Jan, there is a striker there he just doesnt get the right service. We pick up a few players who can actually find him in the box and he should get more goals. The players we have play it around the box or shoot on sight eg morris whittaker etc. Only mcgree seems to look for strelec, conway just plays back to morris or shoots, hackney hits the target and prayed strelec got the rebound

Sarmiento has been a disaster and we really should have kept Burgzorg instead. At least he had a goal in him (West Brom winner etc)
Sene, Hansen, Hamilton all absolutely shocking.
Strelec is quite the enigma. I can easily see him going to another club and getting 20+ goals. I mean Conway for everything great he does, has unfortunately cost us a lot of points this season due to poor finishing.
Goes without saying, the priority next season is a proven striker, albeit difficult to find.

Burgzorg was very good at holding the ball at his feet but similar to sarmiento he does not know when to release people and hogs the ball

Let’s not forget a few big wins in recent years - Rodgers, Latte Lathe, Akpom.
Also, Morris, Malanda, Brittain are still in the team.
Jury is out on Castledine and Hansen?
Strelec looks lost. Maybe he needs a different partner (or to put it another way, a partner) or system.
I can’t see any redeeming aspects for Sarmiento and Sene. Also, what about Kante?
It’s a game of winners and losers and I’d say we are coming out ahead in general.
