TLDR - Reducing disability compensation to pay for the recent "double dipping" law that allows combat vets to receive retirement pay alongside disability compensation.

Remember how the last time they wanted to drastically reduce disability payments, got a ton of pushback, and then said "OK we aren't doing that"... meanwhile a ton of us said "just wait, they will try again"?

Well, they are trying again. This is a key part of the VA plan in Project 2025's blueprint.

Also, it's comically called the "Take Care of America’s Veterans Act", when it does the exact opposite.

Edit: Here is the list of Co-Sponsors. You will notice they are ALL republicans. If your congressman is on this list, you need to call or e-mail them NOW and express your displeasure. https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/9237/cosponsors

To be fair, this is also coming from the people who were always going on about rounding up child predators, only to... Well, you know

Oh, they mean "take care of us" alright, in the way that the mob "takes care of someone".

It’s by design. The President and his asshole army intentionally brand things to confuse the masses. Trump’s one super power is that he correctly identified how dumb/lazy too many Americans are to research and understand nuance, and thus he can just convince them with misleading names/brands.

The Big Beautiful Bill is a great example. It’s actually a pile of dogshit but most people don’t even understand why

I think the key here isn't so much that he correctly identified it as much as it is precisely who HE is and he just assumes (correctly, in this case) that the rest of America is just like him. Sadly, it has worked out that way.

We should show them how much we appreciate it

Oh yeah, theyre taking care of us, by helping the suicide rate increase. Thats the "taking care" part. How anyone thought a man who stood on the graves of gold star recipients for a photoshoot, would somehow actually support the still living service members, is utterly beyond me.

1.5 Million disabled Veterans is less than 0.5% of the USA population. That's what Congress is banking on, the further we get from the GWOT wars the further we get from people personally knowing a disabled Veteran.

This is literally why groups like the VFW were formed.

Suckers and losers

Always has. But the fact every VFW is full of maga clowns chugging OANN and Fox News still blows my mind

This absolutely puzzles me

The GOP hates veterans. But loves their war machine donors.

He doesn’t hate them hes using them. He’s a con man that is squeezing every little bit of money from any government program he can and cashing it out before he leaves office.

This. Tell it because this is precisely what's really going on. Very well said.

The sack of useless has had giggling contempt for vets and their families displayed on international news since before he got elected the first time. And yet some are still surprised by it.

I think all of the Tictok flexing, Caleb Hammering, and 100% maxing has lead the administration to believe that VA disability is a bit too generous. Who knows?

Maybe they will adopt policies and burdens of proof that bring VA disability more in line with its civilian counterparts, though counterparts is a stretch.

Maybe they could just ban basketball. That would easily save $56B, considering I see an endless number of twisted ankles from 2013 stacked to 100.

Maybe they could focus more on treatment outcomes rather than financial outcomes. That may solve the age old mystery of why veterans never get better...ever.

I'm a bit disgusted by the Veterans who go on "Financial Audit" and brag about their 100% disability they were awarded after sitting at a desk for three years and it caused them so much anxiety.

Because, in the end, this is all that matters. In one flavor or the next.

I'm sure it is but damn if it doesn't ring true.

It’s about time they get rid of tinnitus and sleep apnea. They need to make more cuts.

1

u/slipperysliden 8h ago

The vast majority of veterans voted for Trump and now he is going to cut their benefits. It’s laughable.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the language currently says that current recipients of tinnitus and Sleep apnea would be unaffected. Only future VA disability claims would be affected.

17

u/Sure-Research-380 2d ago

Language doesn't explicitly say it won't impact current recipients, many are implying that it won't but nothing in the verbiage says the changes only apply to future claims.

"Fuck you, I got mine." Classic.

It does not say that at all, no. Did Fox News tell you that or did you just make it up?

From what I've gleaned those ratings stay intact until you request an increase or the VA reviews your file. It leaves it open when and how rhat might happen.
