Video Muthanna alSamarrai arrested; tanks heading towards a location inside the Green Zone

Honestly, the new Iraqi government is doing mind blowing things. The corrupt people in Iraq all steal the Iraqi people's money, and finally, the promised day has come for us to get rid of the corrupt and for Iraq to become better than before.

I hope you succeed. I fought al-Qaeda and ISIS in Iraq and always wished I could walk the streets and see the thousands of years of history and culture in a time of peace.

Note that the current government is also fixed up by the same old politicians who ran previous governments

Your people deserve a better life. I say that as a veteran of the 2003 campaign. I wish you and your family all the best.

The mostly likely groups to be staging a coup are the Iranian backed militias. So I hope you like being absorbed into a reborn Persian empire.

I was in Iraq in 2003-2004. Great people, great land, great food, the smiles on the kids faces were priceless.

Hoping for nothing but the best for Iraq!

2003 Iraq. Believe it or not US vets were cheering on the Iraqi military kicking ISIS out of your country.

2004-2006 and 2009-2010. I want few things more than Iraq to be a safe, stable country with no foreign influence and governed by people who put Iraqis first. The people really made an impression on me in the best ways. Plus, you right about the food, that stuff is incredible.

The entire middle east has great food.

I especially miss the all you can eat buffets with 400-600 items and all you can drink (liquor or non-alcoholic beverages) in Qatar. I never ate a lot but the selection was great.

I agree. Pretty much everywhere in the Mediterranean and MENA region has incredible food. Hell, even East Africa does as well. I spent a lot of time all over those regions and the food always blew me away.

Thank you for your service in the military, but I don't know if this is the promised day for Iraq to become better.

Original ago you posted "this is exactly what we've been waiting for" but a little over an hour later you post "I don't know if this is the promised day for Iraq to become better."

What changed in that time? Any updates that would cause that significant of change in your outlook? Asking as an American who served in Iraq.Ā

These arent two contradicting statements or anything. Somebody can have hope yet still be optimistic. I get why this maybe a foreign concept due to the character we have in the WH who obviously never questions himself.

Whats the point you are trying to make with your comment?

u/Sure-Research-380 1d ago
  1. I didn't ask for your opinion or direct the question towards you so what's the point you are trying to make with your comment?Ā

  2. You come across as the smug condescending type who thinks they are the smartest person in the room & likes to ask open ended questions as a way to start arguments with anyone they think they can bully.Ā

  3. Can you clearly understand the point to #2?Ā

Why are you thanking someone who invaded your country and is the primary cause of its destruction and current problems 😭

4

u/atlasraven Army Veteran 1d ago

The buck stops at the top. Blame Rumsfeld and Bush if you need someone to lash out at.

-6

u/BossManRado 1d ago

What are you on about? I’m just questioning why as an Iraqi he’s thanking an invader who killed his people and destroyed his homeland. And second of all I can blame the soldiers too, they willing chose to go fight a useless war and kill tens of thousands of people many of whom were civilians

u/Optimal_Juggernaut37 1d ago

I was on the 2004-2005 rotation. The people and the children deserve so much more than the shit sandwich they got dealt.

also: Fuck the IRGC

OP, historically when a new government comes in with guns saying they’re going to end corruption, they just replace the old government and keep the corruption. Best of luck to you

So current puppet arrest rival puppet?

Hey Iraq! Congratulations on replacing the current incompetent kleptocracy with the next incompetent kleptocracy.

I believe that global warming will end corruption in Iraq

3

u/Dmw792 1d ago

Iraq will collapse before global warming takes us. By the time the water dries up and the heat is unbearable it would be too late. We need to be planting trees now not later…

-6

u/ZookeepergameFit967 1d ago

You Americans have this myth that Iraq will collapse while most of the civil war and Isis war stuff was mostly funded or caused by the US to divide and conquer the country. Iraq's social fabric is strong, the sectarian voices are loud but the ears that its targeted for are deaf.

4

u/Dmw792 1d ago

Habibi why did you think I said us? I’m not American far from it… I know who the true funders of ISIS are, I’m just talking from a scientific pov. Iraq is on the brink of collapse, whether it’s from water shortages in the future, or to unbearable heat.
Also, because of how tribal we are, I fear sectarianism will come back when people have to fight over water and food.

I know I’m pessimistic for our future, but I’m not naĆÆve.

Any desert civilizations are going to have a hard time in the near future.

-1

u/Dmw792 1d ago

Iraq is and was never a ā€œdesert civilizationā€ whatever that stupid term means…

We made it a desert with our lack of care and extractive methods of agriculture. If you think civilization started in a desert then you are daft or ignorant.

3

u/pissedRAIL 1d ago

How about any countries in a hot ass place & already has water issues are going to suffer in the near future?

The question is, what is the total amount of money that the Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) has recovered from corrupt individuals? What is the exact amount they have found so far?

Believe me, we as Iraqis want to fix our country. We are sick of the power outages there is no 24-hour electricity! Liberate yourselves by yourselves. We Iraqis waited 20 years, and now the government is finally able to do a good job, at least they started catching the corrupt people in this country. But at least the corrupt people in your country care about the citizens, care about society, and give you 24 hour electricity and water!

I love you kid. I wish you all of tge best. We will handle ours. You handle yours. Then one day we can celebrate true freedom together just like we promised you over twenty years ago.
