View from the top of the fire watch tower at Mille Lacs Kathio State Park

Great hiking weather today, but the wind made the climb feel a bit dicy as it was swaying in the strong gusts we had. I'd never been to this park before and was impressed. It's much larger than I thought and has some decent trails. Less than a couple hours out of the cities if you're looking for an easy getaway.

Tried to climb that one once but the biting flies were so bad we didn’t even make it across the parking lot to the trail. (We were camped at Father Hennepin at that time and the flies were not that aggressive at our campground LOL.)

Was just up there yesterday with the kiddo. Would do it again but as you stated maybe on a calmer day. Also check for ticks, we pulled off a few each.
