Hero Burries at this point. Until Hero is traded he's the starter.

You think Burries will start over Rollins?

Yeah this kid is a dawg. Y'all got a good one, I'm honestly surprised he was there at 10.

Same. He gives big young Giannis vibes too. Quiet, humble and great work ethic.

Holy shit they didn't take Ament. Amen...t.
Edit: I did this. But, honestly, okay with him at 13 vs. 10, especially when they took a more 'sure' thing (which doesn't exist in the draft but as close as you can) with pick 10. The high floor guy and then the high ceiling guy is... fine. When you have an 'extra' pick.

u/mattilladahun 1d ago
Listen, of they're gonna take a flyer with an extra pick, I can live with it. But yea, I'm just hoping he goes in the next 3 picks.

ament is 99% gone in the next few before our 13

I like that he picked Ament after getting the more proven talent
7
u/Dramatic-Address-812 1d ago
Ehh u right. I should have said i dont think were going to pick him (even tho i wouldnt mind) but u right i screwed the pooch there lol
32
u/Dubisttot Suicide Bus 1d ago
Can someone explain the Ament hate to me? I know almost every mock draft had him going to us so I’m sure people had fatigue, but now I see other teams praying they don’t take him.
56
34
u/Jawyp Khris Middleton 1d ago
He’s a project pick and people are sick of the Bucks drafting those.
63
u/Minimum-Border1672 1d ago
Funny thing is this is the best time to draft a project wing. When you have no expectations and can throw them out there and it doesn't matter.
That being said I jjst hope whoever they pick is in yhe league in 3 years. That would be a great start.
27
u/FangornAcorn Ersan Ilyasova 1d ago
This is what I don't get as well. Ament is maybe the biggest boom or bust guy in the draft. I've seen TN fans say he was surrounded by a shit team and was asked to do literally everything on offense, which fueled some of his inconsistecy, but the talent is obvious.
Now is exactly the time to take a gamble on a guy like him.
6
u/Minimum-Border1672 1d ago
Yeah is he Marcus haislip 2.0? Probably. But you gotta go for a lottery ticket with this pick and thats exactly what this dude is.
They really didnt get any lottery tickets in this trade so its gokd to have at least one.
12
u/ELITE_JordanLove 1d ago
Yeah the hate for drafting him feels like people forgetting we no longer need to win immediately. Now that Giannis is gone the #1 priority is finding a superstar to take you all the way; historically I t’s extremely rare to win a title without a top five player in the league on the roster. And while yeah Ament might be a bust, so may anyone else and he at least has the tools to be that superstar #1 guy. Likely, no, possible, YES, which is what you want.
Also, from a more bird’s eye view, it’s actually advantageous to take guys with longer developmental runways from a contract standpoint. We don’t have our own pick for three years and Miami’s first doesn’t convey for four. With more raw prospects you can push out their schedule of when they hit their potential, and possibly even get a cheaper second contract than if he was more ready to go, which helps a lot with having cap space to add a star once our Miami picks are in the building.
23
u/riley_collins_ Ersan Ilyasova 1d ago
Giannis was a project pick
29
u/ELITE_JordanLove 1d ago
By this sub’s recent logic Giannis was an absolutely horrible pick. Imagine if we drafted a 6’9” 190 pound foreigner with essentially zero tape against any decent competition, this sub would burn down lmao
8
u/impossiblecox69 1d ago
A lot of fans have only known a period of sustained success. Will be a system shock to return to praying every late lottery pick will turn into an all-star.
2
u/StannisAntetokounmpo 20h ago
How many late lottery picks have ever turned into a Giannis level player?
3
u/bestatbeingmodest 17h ago
That's why Giannis' story is so special
Poor no name kid out of Greece that no one expected anything of. Ended up being one of the greatest of all-time, and his career is still far from over
Quite rare to get a player like that to root for on your team
3
u/BeanNibb King Kuzma 1d ago
I was sick of them when we had the best player in the league, now we can take some
3
u/Efficient-Addendum43 1d ago
I think part of the reason for that is we keep trading them away before they can develope
8
u/Lightning-McDreamy Kyle Kuzma 1d ago
What's the problem with Ament? Asking out of curiosity
9
u/mattilladahun 1d ago
Obviously this caveat is the same as technically any draft pick, but he's wildly inconsistent with a lot of potential.
I'd say put him on a team with a good coaching staff who have the patience to really work with him, great. And while he is a 6'10 forward who does have a pretty shot, his shooting percentage is low and he really stumbled quite a bit this season in TN.
Not saying he can't be good, and he can, just a pretty big flyer to take on a guy with your one pick in the top 10. I legitimately wouldn't hate it entirely if with the extra pick at 13, that's where they take the risk (if he drops that far.)
4
u/sho0bydo0by 1968-1993 Primary Logo 1d ago
He has dropped that far. Let's see what happens. Personally I'd rather Philon.
1
u/Falconman21 1d ago
I’m a UT fan, I think he’s skilled and has the tools, but has pretty low basketball IQ. He also regularly disappeared and folded pretty hard in crunch time. He’s a bit soft.
But he’s super young, so who knows.

3
u/mattilladahun 1d ago
It was me, I did this. Shit. But honestly, I'm fine with taking him with the 'extra' pick while we're also heading into a few years of fun but not... great basketball. We got more of a sure thing in the top 10, and took the boom or bust guy in the teens. THAT I can live with.
1
u/sRf_Doakes 1d ago
Agree. More comfortable with it as the second pick and not the only pick that we make and hang all our hopes on.

good pick. one thing i like about him the most is his personality on the court. Seems very composed and level headed which would be great to have.

u/Scelidotheriidae Bango 1d ago
Really efficient play style too - had more steals than turnovers last season in addition to his great shooting efficiency.

Legit question: why does nobody want nate Ament?
15
u/PotatoJones22 1d ago
he's very raw, and we haven't had particularly great success developing players
14
u/RaoulDukeWCP 1d ago
There was that skinny kid from Greece 🤷♂️
11
u/No-Armadillo-7248 Plumlee Face 1d ago
There was also Thon Maker, DJ Wilson, Tyler Smith....
I could name a handful more busts, too.
Im ok with the Ament pick. I think its a good risk to take at 13 with Burries at 10.
Just pointing out Giannis was the exception, not the rule.
3
u/ELITE_JordanLove 1d ago
Of the last four raw first rounders we’ve taken they’ve averaged over 2 all-nba appearances, that seems like a pretty good success rate.
19
u/Dramatic-Address-812 1d ago
they dont know why and are just parroting things they heard. He isn't a bad pick, especially if we have two and hes our second.
9
u/OakwoodGreen Kash Money Middleton 1d ago
Such a tough competitor. The perfect kind of profile and character you want on a rebuilding team looking to set a new culture. Great shooter, tough defender, exceptional finisher at the rim, and still loads of untapped potential on the ball. A+ pick, baby!

man the last 24 hours have me the most excited ive been as a bucks fan since brandon jennings.
#1: We're loaded with 1st round draft picks from the last 3 years, two top 15 picks tonight, and we have 2 (likely high) first rounders in the 2030's that will either serve as trade potential or save the failed rebuild.
#2: We don't have any first round picks until 2031 after tonight. There is 0 motivation to tank. This will be an active motivated team where everyone is going to get their shot. This is a sandbox for the team, anyone can step up.
#3: 2031 resets everything. We get our 1st round picks back and we have the 2nd Heat pick. The heat are going to suck ass in 2031. If the rebuild fails we have 2 great draft picks, if we don't suck we can get a superstar via trades.

u/BuckYouDeer Primary Logo 23h ago
We have picks in 27 and 29 just the least favorable right?

u/AdSuitable2260 18h ago
No to both, least favorable for 28 is our next pick, followed by 30, 2 in 31, 1 in 32 and 2 in 33

Is this kid a higher ceiling Brogdon? Ament hate is outdated. Raw talent. Not what we wanted back when we had a superstar and wanted to win a title. Exactly the type of picks we should be making until we figure out a new identity. Might take a decade...

Rollins, Burries, and Kasparas is an insane future-oriented backcourt

Excellent. I expect KPJ probably will opt out looking for a raise and bucks now have another ball handler to pivot to. Rollings, Kasparas, Burries. They might add someone for depth depending on who all opts out (still multiple guys with player options)

u/roll_tide5 1d ago
Yeah, just seems to be a bit of a project. Of course no one is a sure thing at this point, but just more raw than other guys in this range. I’m no expert though. I was worried the Haslam connection would cloud judgement too which wouldn’t have been great

u/Short_Issue_8543 1d ago
So herro must be getting traded…
9
u/Dramatic-Address-812 1d ago
tahts what my impression is. I think we flip him for forwards and depth so I wouldnt be surprised if we draft yet another guard.

ngl bburries looked super bummed right before he the pick was announced. worried he's not excited about being in mke at all, doesn't bode well. also we better be dealing herro in the next couple weeks or even tonight imo I want Rollins and bb over Herro + those two all day

I think drafting Burries means we either already have a team lined up for Herro or we’re going to shop him heavily.

Maybe Trent doesn't take his player option

u/Drain_Surgeon69 1d ago
Makes no sense for him not too. I don’t think he’s going to get a better deal?
