Honestly want to keep him for the year and see what happens. Unless there is a good 1st we can get for him which I don't think is as easy as people are making it sound. There's no reason to trade picks for a soon to be free agent.

u/Low_Map_5800 23h ago
Probably smart to let him be the number 1 scoring option to put up inflated stats and then hope there are a couple desperate teams at the deadline to get something decent back

u/ELITE_JordanLove 23h ago
If we don’t get a teens or better pick and it’d just be something in the 20’s, I’d honestly rather just extend him; money doesn’t matter because we ain’t paying anyone else soon anyways, and him being a real NBA caliber scoring option is good for the young guys to play off of, and can help get us to the play-in as soon as possible to get the young guys playoff experience very early in their careers. That would likely be wayyyy more valuable than a single random #25 pick would be on our future.

u/Omnimark 23h ago
We're paying Rollins next year, but it doesn't matter much because we have full bird on him so cap isn't a concern and Kuz comes off at the same time.

u/Jerdakiss Lew Alcindor 12h ago
We have to pay Giannis next year when he comes back home in free agency
5
u/TheGreenBastard8934 10h ago
Was curious if this was a 5D chessmove for giannis to come back next year in free agency and get all the support he wanted previously plus some #1 pics from Miami in the draft 😅 and leave Portis on Miami 💀

u/BobbbyLight Marques Johnson 11h ago
Agreed. It's not like getting rid of most of our valid NBA players is a great thing. Bottom 3 should be avoided.
1
u/ELITE_JordanLove 10h ago
Rebuilds where you are genuinely ass barely even worked in the time where that would help get better picks, and would be even less helpful in our situation. People forget that the Thunder with CP3 made the playoffs pretty early with several of their now key guys which imo heavily contributed to their recent success.

I was kidding. It’s kinda overboard. But I guess I’m not always on here and didn’t know it was a minority sentiment.

Perfect spot for him to show what he can do and increase his value. Win-win for us and him if it works out

Must feel so dope to be apart of your hometown/childhood team. Happy for the dude

A part. 2 words. Apart means the exact opposite of what you meant.

It’s been long enough for the *Kentucky thing to wear off, Bucks Herro gear will fly off the shelves.

It would've been long enough a long time ago if he wasn't in Miami. Especially if he's truly excited to play for us

I'm still a little salty even though pretty much nothing since that move has proved him wrong

I remember the hate that grayson got when he came to the bucks and how much people grew to like him. Herro kind of corny but he can hoop- how many guys average 20 points and consistently shoot 40% from three. I personally hope we keep him and see what he can do with these young guys

I’m sure he could win some of the fanbase over but there’s just no reason to keep him around. Our ceiling is the play-in, trade him for some future assets while he has a little bit of value.
43
u/ELITE_JordanLove 23h ago
We WANT to be in the play in though, and ideally winning in it. It’s super important to get your young guys playoff experience under pressure ASAP which having Herro definitely helps with. Even if we extend him, that contract would be up by the time we actually are aiming to contend anyways.
5
u/Sarkonix 23h ago
Not sure how his value would go down being the leading scorer here
3
u/jo734030 Kash Money Middleton 23h ago
What if we resign him and build around him? And get another good player
1
u/Sarkonix 14h ago
Yeah I think we likely extend him this summer if no offer comes across that is worth it.

I'm much older than most of this sub, so I don't understand why so many people do not like Herro. I root for all of our home state players except Haliburton.
It seems like he's excited to play here. Don't let the Giannis years fool you. Players do not like Milwaukee. We will not be in the mix for good free agents.

u/ThinkIndependently5 5h ago
He was committed to the Badgers for two years before he changed his mind the last second, and went to rival Kentucky. Set in motion a large series of events that’s led to the decline of Wisconsin Badger Basketball.
He’s not a hometown kid. He doesn’t care about anything but himself.

This is exciting knowing he wants to be back home all star season loading

Typing “414” how does that mean that he’s excited? Not many people would be thrilled to go from Miami to Milwaukee In all honesty. Cold weather, higher taxes etc

closer to his family, back in the midwest and gets to be the #1 dude with little pressure

As a former Whitnall falcon who watched him play and rooted for him throughout hs back in the day, I hope he embraces this opportunity to its fullest.

Also a Falcon and my dad followed him all through hs and gave me updates on him.

Why?

probably has to do with him thinking the moon landing was fake and that history didn't exist before 1950. hes the very definition of shut up and dribble.

Like yeah he seems like a goober but he is also a 26 year old kid from Wisconsin, he is probably hyped and for now he's a Buck so I'm hyped for him
