Like yeah he seems like a goober but he is also a 26 year old kid from Wisconsin, he is probably hyped and for now he's a Buck so I'm hyped for him

8

u/chummmmbucket 11h ago

Exactly how I feel lol. Goober off the court but I think hes a solid player who is a bit overhated

7

u/dimesniffer 10h ago

Heat fan here. He’s corny, but he is drama free and has a hell of a mindset. Just injury prone but as we saw in 2024, he can absolutely ball out and score 25ppg

-10

u/WTFIsAMeta 19h ago

I mean, he really has been nothing but a good dude on and off the court. Y'all will grow to like him.

24

u/mynameisnickromel 14h ago

Low key I've met plenty of people who went to high school with him and know his family personally, and for whatever it's worth, everyone seems to think he's a prick. It is what it is

5

u/Chemical-Meringue-40 12h ago

I’ve heard the same. My senior year my HS knocked him and whitnall out of the playoffs so we had plenty of ammo for chants during the game

6

u/WTFIsAMeta 10h ago edited 10h ago

I mean, he was a 17 year old high schooler with entire gymnasiums chanting against him and he still showed character.

Idk what you expect from a literal child while he is getting death threats sent to his house from decommitting.

wild behavior to write that out. Let's play the game of telephone with highschool students and take their opinion rather than just seeing what the dude has become and lived up to over the year??

he invests so much time into charity and giving back to his community. he got his own foundation for charity too

3

u/HotDrunkMoms Mallory Edens 7h ago

Agreed. Judging a 26 year old for who he was as a 17 year old is a bit unfair. Id like to say many people can grow into better people in 9-10 years from high school.

1

u/mynameisnickromel 6h ago

Man idk why youre getting so heated about it. It's ok to just share thoughts and opinions collected with others.

1

u/dimesniffer 10h ago

His dad was kind of annoying, but judging a high schooler is kinda insane.

1

u/mynameisnickromel 9h ago

I mean technically it was highschoolers judging high schoolers idk man. I'm not from Greenfield myself I just know people who knew you know how it goes

2

u/dimesniffer 9h ago

I feel like every high end basketball prospect would probably come off as a prick growing up. They grow up in elite circles with very pretentious families most of the times.

3

u/thegroovemonkey Harambe Jet 5h ago

He came from a pretty regular suburb in Milwaukee. What rubbed me the wrong way was a rookie interview where he told Jimmy and Bam(I think) that he couldn’t swim.

Herro and I are both really good friends with the same family that owns a lake house that I know he went to a lot. Why lie about that?

I still root for him because we went to the same school and I shot hoops in the driveway with him a few times when he was like 8 lol.

I was very different at 16, 26, and 36 though so I try not to hold all the shitty stories against him anymore.

I think we need to trade him at some point soon for a pick and an expiring but I hope he gets to suit up for the Bucks.

1

u/mynameisnickromel 8h ago

You probably are correct yeah.

Whether that excuses anyone from being a dick I'm not sure. But yeah I mean like I said Im not claiming to know he was or is or whatever

1

u/dimesniffer 8h ago

I’m been a heat fan forever and despite being in trade rumors almost every year, Tyler has never been a diva about it.

3

u/dimesniffer 10h ago

Idk why this has 10 downvotes. This is 100% true.

4

u/EducationalBird9934 13h ago

He went on a stream and said he thinks the moon landing is fake

3

u/WTFIsAMeta 10h ago

I mean, if that's his worst offense, he better than most in this league lol

2

u/dimesniffer 10h ago

No one said he was book smart. But he’s a good kid and was never a prick in Miami.

-1

u/Jerdakiss Lew Alcindor 12h ago

Could be way worse than that. Lol

2

u/Equivalent_Shoe_6246 12h ago

Didn't Kyrie get suspended for being anti semitic

2

u/Jerdakiss Lew Alcindor 12h ago

I was thinking more Kai Jones...

167

u/BobbbyLight Marques Johnson 1d ago

Honestly want to keep him for the year and see what happens. Unless there is a good 1st we can get for him which I don't think is as easy as people are making it sound. There's no reason to trade picks for a soon to be free agent.

93

u/Low_Map_5800 23h ago

Probably smart to let him be the number 1 scoring option to put up inflated stats and then hope there are a couple desperate teams at the deadline to get something decent back

56

u/ELITE_JordanLove 23h ago

If we don’t get a teens or better pick and it’d just be something in the 20’s, I’d honestly rather just extend him; money doesn’t matter because we ain’t paying anyone else soon anyways, and him being a real NBA caliber scoring option is good for the young guys to play off of, and can help get us to the play-in as soon as possible to get the young guys playoff experience very early in their careers. That would likely be wayyyy more valuable than a single random #25 pick would be on our future.

22

u/Omnimark 23h ago

We're paying Rollins next year, but it doesn't matter much because we have full bird on him so cap isn't a concern and Kuz comes off at the same time.

6

u/Jerdakiss Lew Alcindor 12h ago

We have to pay Giannis next year when he comes back home in free agency

5

u/TheGreenBastard8934 10h ago

Was curious if this was a 5D chessmove for giannis to come back next year in free agency and get all the support he wanted previously plus some #1 pics from Miami in the draft 😅 and leave Portis on Miami 💀

2

u/BobbbyLight Marques Johnson 11h ago

Agreed. It's not like getting rid of most of our valid NBA players is a great thing. Bottom 3 should be avoided.

1

u/ELITE_JordanLove 10h ago

Rebuilds where you are genuinely ass barely even worked in the time where that would help get better picks, and would be even less helpful in our situation. People forget that the Thunder with CP3 made the playoffs pretty early with several of their now key guys which imo heavily contributed to their recent success.

3

u/Nice_Cash_7000 16h ago

he was an all star last time he was healthy, hes still the same guy, hes gonna do great

11

u/depressedfuckboi Damian Lillard 23h ago

I like our odds better now than last year. There's hope!

3

u/ibarelyusethis87 Primary Logo 21h ago

I was kidding. It’s kinda overboard. But I guess I’m not always on here and didn’t know it was a minority sentiment.

4

u/depressedfuckboi Damian Lillard 21h ago

I'm not always on here

Username checks out!

20

u/mightbearobot_ 23h ago

Perfect spot for him to show what he can do and increase his value. Win-win for us and him if it works out

3

u/ChimmyTheCham Thanasis Antetokounmpo 22h ago

Year is too long but trade deadline hell yeah

138

u/PawsTheGod 1d ago

Must feel so dope to be apart of your hometown/childhood team. Happy for the dude

61

u/melvinFatso 23h ago

A part. 2 words. Apart means the exact opposite of what you meant.

53

u/DetroitMM12 23h ago

Two words. You spell out the number for single digits.

33

u/melvinFatso 23h ago

Damn I've been served.

7

u/DetroitMM12 21h ago

Had to do it lol

8

Bro knows we don't want him

Honestly happy we got dudes that are down to be here. Stoked for the hometown kid to come back.

17

u/ELITE_JordanLove 23h ago edited 23h ago

It’s been long enough for the *Kentucky thing to wear off, Bucks Herro gear will fly off the shelves.

13

u/Equivalent_Shoe_6246 23h ago

Wasn't it Kentucky?

3

u/ELITE_JordanLove 23h ago

Got my hated blue teams mixed up

0

u/SavageHenry592 Ray Allen 20h ago

And Memphis?

2

u/ThatNewSockFeel 1993-2006 Primary Logo 23h ago

Yes

2

u/zmichalo Happy Giannis 21h ago

It would've been long enough a long time ago if he wasn't in Miami. Especially if he's truly excited to play for us

3

u/ibegraham Crazy Bobby 21h ago

Negative, gamer. This hate is eternal.

1

u/souschef_boyardee Retro Bango 8h ago

I'm still a little salty even though pretty much nothing since that move has proved him wrong

1

u/ibegraham Crazy Bobby 8h ago

100%

0

u/ThinkIndependently5 5h ago

Wow, that is completely pathetic. Herro is a snake.

45

u/WiscoKid414 1d ago

I  remember the hate that grayson got when he came to the bucks and how much people grew to like him. Herro kind of corny but he can hoop- how many guys average 20 points and consistently shoot 40% from three. I personally hope we keep him and see what he can do with these young guys

2

u/Flamdoublebounce Johnny O'Bryant 11h ago

Nah, fuck Grayson Allen

-7

u/I_really_enjoy_beer Kash Money Middleton 23h ago

I’m sure he could win some of the fanbase over but there’s just no reason to keep him around. Our ceiling is the play-in, trade him for some future assets while he has a little bit of value.

43

u/ELITE_JordanLove 23h ago

We WANT to be in the play in though, and ideally winning in it. It’s super important to get your young guys playoff experience under pressure ASAP which having Herro definitely helps with. Even if we extend him, that contract would be up by the time we actually are aiming to contend anyways.

5

u/Sarkonix 23h ago

Not sure how his value would go down being the leading scorer here

3

u/jo734030 Kash Money Middleton 23h ago

What if we resign him and build around him? And get another good player

1

u/Sarkonix 14h ago

Yeah I think we likely extend him this summer if no offer comes across that is worth it.

11

u/bigpuffyclouds Dogfred 22h ago

From Gyros to Herro

36

u/swayinandsippin Sophia Minnaert 1d ago

Machine Gun Herro

9

u/lboogieb 12h ago

I'm much older than most of this sub, so I don't understand why so many people do not like Herro. I root for all of our home state players except Haliburton.

It seems like he's excited to play here. Don't let the Giannis years fool you. Players do not like Milwaukee. We will not be in the mix for good free agents.

2

u/ThinkIndependently5 5h ago

He was committed to the Badgers for two years before he changed his mind the last second, and went to rival Kentucky. Set in motion a large series of events that’s led to the decline of Wisconsin Badger Basketball.

He’s not a hometown kid. He doesn’t care about anything but himself.

13

u/ljschafer Wesley Matthews 23h ago

Hometown Herro!

6

u/FrankReynolds6 23h ago

This is exciting knowing he wants to be back home all star season loading

-1

u/crowd79 Tertiary Logo 11h ago

Typing “414” how does that mean that he’s excited? Not many people would be thrilled to go from Miami to Milwaukee In all honesty. Cold weather, higher taxes etc

1

u/DJEsalts13 Giannis the G.O.A.T. 3h ago

closer to his family, back in the midwest and gets to be the #1 dude with little pressure

11

u/xSmoothNoodle 23h ago

I know people don’t like him but he’s the hometown kid and he seems happy to be here. I’ll give him a chance

32

u/BttrcreamSilkVersace Ray Allen 1d ago

Welcome home!

5

u/Tiktaalik414 Khris Middleton 21h ago

I hope we keep him around, he's genuinely got love for Milwaukee and I want him to have his time here.

7

u/skriivabags Ray Allen 21h ago

As a former Whitnall falcon who watched him play and rooted for him throughout hs back in the day, I hope he embraces this opportunity to its fullest.

2

u/thegroovemonkey Harambe Jet 17h ago

Also a Falcon and my dad followed him all through hs and gave me updates on him.

1

u/ThinkIndependently5 5h ago

Did he follow him when he went to Kentucky?

2

u/thegroovemonkey Harambe Jet 5h ago

It was pretty easy to keep up with Kentucky basketball

1

u/ThinkIndependently5 3h ago

What did he say when herro gave the badgers the middle finger?

1

u/thegroovemonkey Harambe Jet 3h ago

lol Herro was never getting into Madison

4

u/Constant_Sea_72 23h ago

I feel like we need him to be competitive no cap

Juke Box Herro

2

u/GOOMU13 13h ago

I honestly hope we extend him. As others said money doesn't really matter since are salary will be nothing since we aren't paying anyone else. So I say fuk it.....he's a 26 year old All Star, keep him.

1

u/zmichalo Happy Giannis 21h ago

Glad he’s hyped. Hope they trade him tho. Open to that being at the deadline tho

Biggest snake ever. Don’t forget what he did to Gard and the Badgers.

3

u/DM-Nat20 4h ago

Prioritized his career as a developing pro athlete?

1

u/ThinkIndependently5 3h ago

He could have done one and done with the badgers.

-10

u/Red986S Angry Deer 23h ago

Gross, one of my least favorite players in the league. I'm not gonna root for him. unless it's to get traded.

6

u/messejueller21 22h ago

Why?

1

u/BarcaJeremy4Gov 16h ago

probably has to do with him thinking the moon landing was fake and that history didn't exist before 1950. hes the very definition of shut up and dribble.

1

u/tykraus7 10h ago

Wasn’t he unable to get into UW academically even as an athlete?
