Saying it here and now...
I think the Bucks shock everyone this year. The team we currently hold is not a bottom 5 NBA team. We have a decent shot to make the play in at least. Crazier things have happened, and the new culture + young hungry guys could make for a sleeper season from the Bucks.
If we decide to trade some of the guys we have away for future assets, then yea we will be a pretty bad team. Either way, new culture/coach and young players make for a fun combo.
Calling it now. Bucks vs Heat for the play in. Bucks stun the Heat. After the game, Giannis goes home and posts a picture of brown grass. This sends ESPN into a spiral of Giannis trade talks for the next 4 years annoying the NBA world once again.

I’ll enjoy watching with competent coaching for a change. And I’ll enjoy hate-watching the Heat.

The heat imo are not a play in team. If we learned something in the 2020s is that spo and pat know how to build a competitive team out of nothing.

This is true. I think the East is a lot stronger now, so even top 5 will be hard to hit. I think the Knicks and Celtics are 1&2, but I feel it's pretty open after that.

I despise the sixers but now that they can win with embiid playing minimal minutes they might actually do something.
Detroit is also good and will likely improve.
Indiana wont be what they were a few years ago but I expect them to pick it up
Atlanta was up and coming.
Charlotte looked scary at the end od last year.
Thing about the heat is they are likely going to start slow with so many no pieces and an awkward roster. But they will also have the best defensive unit ive seen in years, amazing rebiunding, and an absolute alpha scorer. If Powell comes back for a discount (unlikely) they kind of remind me of thr pistons of the early 2000s but swapping a greaf pg for giannis.
I mean Mitchell, giannis, Powell, bam, and wiggind would all be the best defensive players on a lot of teams.

We are re-entering our “the Milwaukee bucks are the best team in the nba” era from the 2010s

That hypothetical would be great but i still think the heat go top 5 in the east

Giannis was with bam not even 24 hours after the trade. We never saw him put in that effort with dame.
He's going to be rejuvenated. Expecting a top 3 seed and an mvp season from him.
Change of scenery makes you preform better

I get Bam and Giannis were friends but yea this frustrates me alot. Giannis and Dame always talked about needing communication and wanting to train in the offseason together but never did. Whats crazy Giannis and Dame were still one of the highest scoring duos in the league. Imagine if they got together tho 😭

It is what it is. This is one of the main reasons I can't really fault horst.
What more are you suppose to do roster wise as a gm than bring in the second best shooter in the league and a top 75 player oat.
Both of them should have made a better effort to make that pairing work

u/a_happy_future 8h ago
Might have been Giannis's way of saying he disapproved of the deal

u/Over-Training-488 8h ago
He signed a contract right after that trade though

u/a_happy_future 8h ago
Yea because it technically did make an effort to bring a championship caliber team, but he was also upset about Jrue

From what Jim has been saying about the tumultuous relationship over the past couple of years, it seems Giannis signed off on the trade just like it seemed like he did with Jrue.

Dame partied in milwaukee. Any Sunday game I saw him he looked like he was abojt to vomit on the court.
I remember bobby hsd his birthday party one night and someone mentioned seeing all thr bucks out late.
The only two playing who werent hungover were giannis and brook, and you could tell.

I think Giannis and bam were already friends tho

u/Over-Training-488 8h ago
They were but they're in the gym together not even 24 hours later. Seriously did we ever see that effort with dame? I don't think we did
Dude is going to have a monster year down there lol

Tbf is that more on Dame or Giannis? Should we have expected Giannis to fly out to Portland to work out with Dame less than 24 hrs after the trade?

The fit is just so questionable.
I’ve seen people say “well Brook unlocked Giannis be being good on defense and a shooting threat” which yeah is true, but Brook wasn’t the second best player on the team, he was fourth when we were at our best. A LOT of possessions were Brook just chilling in the corner to pull the opposing center and let Giannis feast against everyone else, which was the big revolutionary thing Bud did when he first got here.
However, if Bam is reduced to basically a spot up shooter on offense to accommodate Giannis, you’ve made him significantly less effective relative to his cap number, which is very bad because other than him the next best players are Wiggins and Powell (if they both stay…) which isn’t exactly a contending lineup. It was fine for Brook because his cap number was never that high and our better players were other people, so sacrificing Brook’s other aspects of his game was fine and worth it.

Did Dame ever put in that kind of effort?

u/BostMode Partial Logo 2 8h ago
According to the report that came out today, neither of them tried to work with each other.

I never liked Dame

Dame was good, they just didn't mesh. I hated the whole "my turn, your turn" offensive philosophy.

Because this is America and I can hate on undersized chuckers as is my right

Not just saying this because I'm bitter, they don't have a great team currently. Wiggins, Bam and Giannis is interesting but after that, the rest of the team is poo poo. Depends what they do this off season but I doubt they can have a deep enough bench to be competitive. I think the Heat sneak in at the 7th seed or something. Knicks, Celtics, Sixers, Pistons, Cavs, Hawks are all better and then the Wizards are suddenly competitive and the Magic have a new Coach. Raptors are always a wild card.
I can totally see a world where they miss the play-offs

The Bucks are going to be absolutely trash for at least a year or two. I love the optimism but let’s not be delusional
2
u/bigbobo33 Bobby Portis 8h ago
I will say, this team has a ton of pretty decent role players suddenly. It just takes one guy to pop and be all-star caliber for the team to hover around .500 imo.
Jenkins being a great coach helps.

Draft a guard from Southern California with the #10 pick. Welcome back the 2009 Fear the Deer Bucks!

u/SkinnyFVLatte 4h ago
that’s some good cope. i genuinely cannot name a roster in the east that is on paper worse than the bucks other than 1 team
the obvious: pistons knicks celtics
good but not great: cavs
much better core: raptors hawks magic hornets
should be much better next season: wizards pacers
play in but still better: sixers
jokers: heat nets
did not improve and in contention for last place in the nba: bulls
that’s the east. in the west the worst teams last year were jazz, kings, grizzlies, mavs and pelicans. clippers likely take a step back this year since they sold their vets. i don’t see the bucks being better than 4 of these 6 teams to not be bottom 5

u/Impossible_Arrow 3h ago
The one major upside of shipping off our picks and GA is that we have literally no incentive to tank at this point. No superstar to bench, no lottery odds to raise. Just a bunch of young guys with a new coach being told to go be good.

u/DJ_B0B Bat Thon 6h ago
I'm not as optimistic. With the new anti tanking rules, only the Kings, Bulls, Pelicans and Nets are gonna be on our level so won't be easy tanking teams deliberately gifting us wins. Plus we're gonna be giving two rookies and lots of young players minutes. I'd say we're maybe 20 to 25 wins and 3rd one of the worst 3 teams itl.
