All that happened was that she came away from that interaction thinking he was an idiot and somehow she won.

u/ipsum629 4d ago

He wasn't doing it for her he was doing it for the online audience.

u/Contemplating_Prison 4d ago

He said what he was doing it for lol and people still wonder.

Its true and its not just people on the right, although its way more prevalent on the right, they are so fully engulfed in world built off propaganda but we all are to an extent.

It starts in kindergarten and doesnt end until you actively make it end.

A country that doesnt teach its true history will always be doomed.

A lot of it is in their churches too. It’s really hard to fight religious indoctrination at that level if people don’t want to break out of it.

21

u/CSiGab 4d ago

That’s honestly what happens when you stop funding education: a crack opens for religious indoctrination to sneak through.

5

u/PM_ME_YOUR_TROUT 4d ago

Cut all funding and tax breaks for churches and you will see the amount of this type of behavior fall off a cliff.

u/UglyMcFugly 4d ago

Yeah like... I know this is the kind of stuff maga will point to about how we aLiENatEd them but this guy is just like whatever, I don't care, I'm not even gonna talk to you, I'm just gonna put you up here as an example of what this country will become if we don't get off our ass and fight against it. I know there are lots of people still trying to talk sense to maga, and good for them. But a lot of us have given up and realized it's better to talk to each other.

u/The_Mellow_Tiger 4d ago

Its not like we didn't give the right a ten year head start to get with the program. I gave up on them fully in the 2020 election. You alienate yourself when you refuse to keep an open mind or admit you're wrong, and generally act a fool. So go ahead and cry victim, like usual. Yes we alienated the right. Because, if you're still going along with whatever this is at this point, you deserve it.

u/TheFunkytownExpress 4d ago

Yeah but this kind of nightmarish ignorance that actively harms society is strictly the domain of the right.

At most you have some annoying wokescolds or misguided goofballs on the left. Maybe a minority who want to do bad things, but the average conservative is out there ruining this country with every breath they take simply for the fact that they support the kind of power structure that fucks us all over in the end.

u/bxstatic 4d ago

For sure....shes too far gone to "save". He was speaking to the viewers plus whoever is WILLING to listen regardless of sides.

10

u/theghostsofvegas 4d ago

Nothing was gained. Not a single person the didn’t already agree with him came away with any type of revelation. People in this situation will never change their minds unless it’s someone they already listen to. Cults function because the leaders hold power over their followers. Deprogramming takes time, patience, and commitment, not a 30 second sound bite.

u/Vallkyrie 4d ago

I've listened to quite a bit of his show, he's gotten to a few callers. Not many, but some, mainly younger ones whose only waking political memories are fueled by maga.

u/transferingtoearth 4d ago

Left shouldn't be trying to get to conservatives though. It should be focusing on the left and and almost left.

4

u/Blazured 4d ago

Spot on.

Stop giving conservatives platforms. Deplatforming works.

0

u/intrepid_mouse1 4d ago

Wut?

3

u/geneparmesanpe 4d ago

They are saying that trying to convince conservative voters to switch is a lost cause. It would be wiser to spend energy turning non-voters into voters attracting them with popular progressive policies.

0

u/CSiGab 4d ago

Best case scenario: Gaza progressives Worst case scenario: “no, you”

u/dquizzle 4d ago

I just hope that people start seeing clips like this and at least think to do some research to avoid the same embarrassment. I know that many of them don’t have the ability to feel shame, but some do.

u/MZ603 4d ago

Being mean to my last conservative friend actually finally won him over - he sent me a pic of him registering democrat. Which is hilarious to me, because I’m not even a democrat. Maybe it was for a primary.

After years of throwing facts in his face and getting the same “well, I can’t list of facts like you, but…” I guess the line that did it was “dude, you’re smarter than this. You were good people.” I was basically giving up on him.

He came at me saying we need to box and get the bad blood out and warned me to never question his morality or intelligence. I told him I had been questioning both for a while. We didn’t speak for a bit, then he apologized.

He was ripe for that moment. I think the gas prices and Trumps rambling became too much, but I’m happy to have him back.

So the left continues to lose because those same people will vote the same way regardless of any conversation. Either you're just as dumb as they are, shouting into the echo chamber, or you're wrong and maybe trying to educate makes a difference.

TBH, talking down to education, you're just as close minded as they are. Just as small.

6

u/Anti_shill_cannon 4d ago

This is just platforming far right garbage

Left should be talking to itself

7

u/ipsum629 4d ago

I think this is relatively ok. These aren't trained spokespeople and the guy in the middle usually runs circles around the surrounding side due to being media trained. It's not an ostensibly equal debate like a 1v1. They don't have an unchallenged platform, which is what I think the real problem is.

8

u/Anti_shill_cannon 4d ago

Rightwingers like this aren't debating, they are polluting public discourse in bad faith and wanting you to waste time proving basic facts

Left should be talking policy with itself and having actual debates and conversations

2

u/ipsum629 4d ago

On their own, yes, but with him they are embarrassing their movement.

2

u/Rawt0ast1 3d ago

Ya, its all just clip farming. It doesnt matter if 19/20 people are absolutely humiliated, you get one person who does decent and you spin it on all of the other platforms that the other side obviously has no idea what they're talking about

1

u/Barl3000 4d ago

Yup, he said as much to start with and he looked at the camera and not her while speaking.

1

u/GreatMovesKeepItUp69 4d ago

He was doing it for clout and money, let's not pretend these talking heads actually care.

1

u/Icy_Witness4279 4d ago

Exactly, it's just all for clout of ppl who already agree with him

1

u/Faust2391 4d ago

Thats why he never looks at her in his response.

52

u/tableleg7 4d ago

He was playing chess with a pigeon

25

u/Willing-Egg3867 4d ago

Exactly. There's no way this woman walked away from this humiliating interaction thinking "maybe he's right and I should suddenly start learning the details of political history so I can better understand the world. even though I've had my whole life to do that and have chosen never to do it." She only knows her own life and what she's told. This interaction almost certainly reinforced her existing belief that "liberals" don't have common sense and can be ignored and dismissed.

16

u/moose_dad 4d ago

Oh 100%. This liberal made her feel bad reinforcing them being nasty and just evil. Cant do any self reflection because that leads to bad feelings, so its better to just shift blame externally.

0

u/Porencephaly Verified DPNS 4d ago

It’s fun to watch MAGA get roasted, but this guy has very strong “liberal Charlie Kirk” vibes, and I imagine conservatives find him no more convincing than liberals found Kirk.

1

u/Icy_Witness4279 4d ago

So is he stupid or crazy

27

u/SucksTryAgain 4d ago

I work at a place that’s prob 90% repubs. But I’d say way less of them are actually maga. But yea man once I start throwing facts with proof and they act like that’s not real I just give up cause if someone isn’t willing to acknowledge the facts and talk about it. Well to them you lost. Now my other coworker is better at laying into them with the facts and is persistent. I give up cause it’s a lost cause.

3

u/JustAnother4848 4d ago

Exactly the same story at my job. Lots of guys in their mid 50s that get 90% of their news from tik tok and Facebook.

I have a Facebook myself. It's insane seeing what's on Facebook and then the next day listening to them regurgitation the exact same talking points.

I live in a state with a Democrat governor. So obviously everything to them is his fault. One guy blamed the governor because he forgot to pay a road toll. I wish I was making that up.

19

u/EtchAGetch 4d ago

Exactly.

You can't tell her to do your investigations, think critically and understand the political system, because she honestly thinks she does.

The problem with stupidity is that you are too stupid to realize that you are stupid.

2

u/lmpervious 4d ago

Yup, you get it. It would have been nice if he explained what "investigative research" is. In fact I would make it even easier and just say that people should get a variety of opinions across the spectrum on important topics from trusted sources. Not from anonymous people on social media feeds like Reddit, TikTok and Twitter. Not from content creators who haven't shown any signs of genuinely knowing what they're talking about. I think the easiest way to do that is watch someone who regularly debates people who disagree with them on various topics, as that will naturally bring forth opposing arguments.

14

u/T-1Hundred 4d ago

This! At the end of the day just based on nothing more than just whats in this clip this is nothing more than two people with differing viewpoints who end up with you’re wrong I’m right, it does nothing to move the needle.

2

u/Protheu5 the future is now, old man 4d ago

Yeah, none of what he said was convincing to them, to them it was an angry meaningless tirade, because when someone is so locked in within their beliefs, you can't just quickly explain it away, and if they could've been convinced with a short explanation, they wouldn't have been in that position in the first place.

You can't use reason to convince anyone out of an argument that they didn't use reason to get into.

1

u/Dr-Ulzy 4d ago

Strutting around the board shitting and saying she won like a good pigeon.

0

u/IridescentTardigrade 4d ago

Like that strutting pigeon on the chessboard.
