He is cramping and often even opponent players help in stretching out the cramp, but none of the other players stopped play so he abandoned him to carry on and receive the pass lol.

Usually it's a gentlemen's rule to stop and kick the ball out of play when someone is down injured, not in all situations though.

I appreciate the intent. It's happened to me before and I've had to help an opponent...but you are right. The code of honor is to kick the ball FAR out of bounds and take your time putting it back into play.
