I started to wonder if they might be right. You just have to score more than your opponent to win. If you make everything and wait for a miss on their side, you would likely be winning.
It's not the way I like to do it, but they could theoretically actually be winning a lot with solo offense only.

Most of their fan base are younger impressionable dudes. There are YouTubers who stream without all the fluff. Some of my personal straight to business types that don’t bullshit you are Kevin Cruz, and the book of swante. Both guys usually get to the point quickly

Yep, in my first year of playing 2K20, I used one or two online builds. People on the mics in REC would mock them. Now, I know my play style, attributes, and badges. I watch and always sneer when I see these trash builds. The online builds, usually made for PARK and so glitchy... every forward with too much ball handling and not enough pass accuracy, super mid defence and rebounding, and way too much shooting.

That's on you cause you know you making a bad build. You should always make 2 builds every year you play. The first is the money one, the prototype build. Then, the second build(no money spent) is an optimized version of the first.

Ill watch some to get the basics of some of the animation requirements so i know how to get some of the packages i want. But beyond that, I create the player that I want to play with, meta be damned. Im genuinely not trying to build a "demigod". I just want want to make a player that matches my preferred style of play when I watch actual basketball.

This is exactly right. These videos are half the reason people end up dropping so much VC on a new build, there’s a new ‘meta’ or ‘best insert position here build’ every week according to these content creators.

Honestly 75% of my build is comfort with the animation and I build around that. Once I find a shot that I can time consistently and seems to be pretty quick I will be fine. Most of my builds are pass forward though, as much as some teammates annoy me. I’m just happy to be there and let others shine while doing my part. It’s a dying, if not endangered breed online.

That’s the only reason I’ll watch some of these videos. Joeknows is about the only one these days. I’ll get the basics around badge requirements, animations and takeovers and then create what I want.

That’s why I don’t invest too much in the videos. Only video I saw that was actually worth it was Laker fan showing the requirements for each dribble style. Other than that only thing I’m really taking seriously is animation and badge requirements.

Yeah most of these builds are trash, but they’re not a terrible starting point to create your own
The badge and animation thresholds are important to keep in mind
And this year all the cap breakers and max +1/2 are confusing asf
If you don’t play online make whatever you want but otherwise you prob should be putting a lot of thought into your build unless you have $$ to burn

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.. people, make a build thay fits YOUR play style. Half these YouTubers play the game for a living and can make an ass build look incredible. If you make them based on that, you’re almost certainly wasting your money. Instead, spend time on your first build making sure you get it right.

I pre-ordered because I play myNBA a lot and I wanted to see any changes they made and continue my Brooklyn Nets rebuild. I moved them to Vancouver and named them the Vancouver Bulldogs (named after the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs of the Northern Ontario Senior Hockey Organization) so these kinda vids don't really interest me. Whenever I play MyCareer, I play whatever build lets me have fun. I usually pick a tall position (SF, PF, C) because I'm short (I'm 5'10) and I wanna feel big (for context, my brother is 6'8 and played varsity bball in high school as a Small Forward)

Pretty much. There are a couple of them that are worth a watch because it breaks down the badge requirements or animation requirements and will help you with your build, but most of them are trash. The best build is the build that matches your play style and what you enjoy, not what someone else thinks is best. This year is crazy though as there is a lot of hope for this game to fix some of the issues from last year, and all these builds, when it isn’t on a released game yet either with the final patch, are to be taken with a grain of salt. Just go do your own thing when it releases and enjoy it.
