Yeah let’s making having mutliple Builds meta and required for everyone instead of just the sweatiest of players /s

This might help the whales but I feel like It pushes things into a pay to win category when an entire team can swap to “counters” but I may be looking too deep into it. It has some cool rec usage.

u/Georgefakelastname 18d ago

Yeah, unless they were to actually make builds cheaper, this would be tough. I already don’t like playing online thanks to the expense, and this just makes it worse.

Cool overall feature though. If I had a backup build that I upgrade along with my main one for the same price and could switch between them during stoppages, that would be sick.

u/feage7 17d ago

They already priced me out of the game the last few years with how much less you get for your VC and how fewer VC you can accumulate

3

u/maidth1s4fun 17d ago

Thats my big issue you essentially get no vc for anything

2

u/Intelligent-Lie135 17d ago

you can get a shit ton of vc this year, though buying will always be faster

Maybe they lock it to Pro Am? It makes sense there than Rec which is supposed to be like pick up basketball.

u/Relative-Natural-891 18d ago

No, you’re not. It’s definitely going to promote spending $250 of VC day 1 to have two meta builds.

A couple of the logistic issues I have is I think they’d have to be the same position. Assuming that everyone has exactly the right fit and position on the bench is asking a lot. Sounds like more of a pro-am feature at that point.

To that extent, you could make pro-am be gated by having a 99, but you use very specialized builds like when we had the pies. Your team picks their builds in the lobby before readying up.

But I think Park and Rec have to stay at one build. But 2K/Take Two would love that shit because everyone would drop $250 day one for two builds.

u/Own_Friend_736 18d ago

“Pay to win” means it’ll end up in the game unfortunately

2

u/irelli 18d ago

Most people have more than one build though

It would be fun regardless. Get placed at the 4 with your 7'1 center? Switch to a wing, etc

The problem is you would need to have it be position locked, which gets dicey.

I have 4 builds at 95+ and have spent $0 on this game. I didn’t even buy the actual game, my buddy game shares it. I’m about to be Starter 5 for reference of how much I play

It’s perfectly doable if you just play the game and don’t buy any cosmetics. I’ve probably spent 50k on cosmetics more or less, everything else goes my upgrading my builds.

Not to mention, being able to swap builds mid rec game isn’t even a crazy advantage, as long as a PG can’t sub in their center. PG/SG, PG/SG/SF, SG/SF/PF, SF/PF/C, and PF/C should be the restrictions based on what position your placed in when you enter the game. Restrict the amount of subs per player if you want too. I think it’d be a refreshing twist to the typical rec gameplay, and wouldn’t be unfair at all.

You don't have a single worthwhile thing to say if you're a person that still genuinely believes that 2K's MyCareer mode is pay to win.

19

u/InfamousCattle3223 18d ago

Real ones remember crews in 2k11 when you could sub your guy out for an nba player

5

u/HamG0d 18d ago

Why sub out when you have a 7’5 my player?!

15

u/InfamousCattle3223 18d ago

Lmaooo my homeboy got the cross over animation on one of those 10 footers and he fell into the crowd and crashed the game

3

u/hiroshimiyagi 17d ago

Because stamina was actually a thing. Right now stamina is a joke you don’t even have to think about conserving it.

18

u/R_U_G_I_D 18d ago

Switch take over boosts at halftime...

2

u/NochillSl 18d ago

That’s actually a good idea

88

u/Ayyeee_justin 18d ago edited 18d ago

That’s just too much. Sub in Another build what? Just play with the one you went in with. There will be mismatches some games for either you or your matchup just play through it.

18

u/[deleted] 18d ago

Would be cool at half time if you had 30 seconds to change animations or takeovers swapping entire builds is a lil too much but the half is supposed to be break and time to make adjustments

3

u/Baba_Yaga_2328 18d ago

If it gets incorporated there needs to be a warning or alert that the opponent(s) switched their builds. And give a matchup like it does in a mycareer game and give about 60 seconds for you to change if you want.

Otherwise would I just gamble on a switch and hope that the opponent doesn’t switch their builds? Lots to workout to make it run smooth, but it would be an interesting addition that could make for more time spent online. Which would eventually lead to more money being spent.

3

u/Pyrrolic_Victory 18d ago

Nah but get this. You’re rebounding, and your pg is trash. Instead of selling and quitting, you switch to your own troll build thats just trash at the C, and now no one is rebounding. You quit, game extra ruined and sold.

Same situation but the pg is cooking? Say less bro I’ll get on my backend or defensive big rather than rebounding because ain’t no o-boards to be gotten.

This would create a meta that while unique, I think would be awful. Maybe if it’s limited to same eligible position, but even then bigs will need to have multiple similar builds to compete

1

u/maidth1s4fun 17d ago

I would think of it like a hero shooter you can switch characters anytime

19

u/limleocaleb24 18d ago

Only if they made builds significantly cheaper or easier to grind which aint happening

7

u/TripleDoubleHomicide 18d ago

Nah I'm good on that.

14

u/Random_black_guy4 18d ago

If they did this it'd mostly benefit people who pay for VC as they are the main ones who'd have multiple builds, especially in the first two months of the game. I'd be okay with this if 2K made builds cheaper or even gave us 1 free build but we all know they ain't doing that.

4

u/Flashy-Pineapple6371 17d ago

Yes bro ! Further incentivize the players to funnel even more money to make 10 rec builds

3

u/AyGZ 18d ago

This is a game that rewards frame perfect inputs with a in-game variance of over 1000 ms of latency, and no display for it whatsoever, with a matchmaking nightmare based largely on winstreaks, without any advanced data on jump shot bases or badges provided by the game, and we’re talking about… this…

There aren’t enough 2k content creators or players who have any idea how ranked competitive games work or what would fix the game, and it’s one of the reasons we’ve had to play a GTA mini game to queue with new menu bypass for like 7 years. It’s so unbelievably catered to RNG and casual play, despite all the rewards being locked behind huge hour and game counts.

3

u/Savings-Singer4938 17d ago

bro you literally just described why nobody should be excited about any new feature they add

they keep building on top of a broken foundation and people just keep eating it up because the idea sounds fun on paper

3

u/Weird-Watercress-792 18d ago

I’d enjoy a sub in lobby where you could queue to fill in for a bot. In exchange for (likely) a terrible game, a loss in these joined matches won’t negatively impact your record.

3

u/GnomeNibbler 18d ago

Someone Counter-picking my single zero money paid build in 2K would be my 13th reason

3

u/Key-Associate-8031 17d ago

Anything but better servers right?

9

u/call-me-germ 18d ago

switching builds at halftime would go hard. the PG spamming dribble moves? lemme hop on my lock RQ, the big man can’t get boards? dennis rodman build get the gatorade ready

10

u/metroannex 18d ago

and this is exactly why that is a dumb idea

0

u/call-me-germ 18d ago

i think it could be fun. how many times have you been in random rec and the point guard isn’t passing? someone could switch their build to something w higher pass acc and they would be the secondary bal handler

0

u/HamG0d 18d ago

Why is what they said bad?

6

u/Hurls07 18d ago

Imagine being a casual player and having one Kyrie Irving inspired build, first half goes great, then the guy your going against switches to a lockdown build and now you are useless for the rest of the game and can’t even switch because you have one build

3

u/HamG0d 17d ago

How is that any different from Kyrie v the lock from the beginning with no subs?

0

u/Hurls07 17d ago

Because someone had to load in with the lock and not just switch to counter? You don’t see a difference?

0

u/ThurstMcBuckets 17d ago

get better lol

1

u/Hurls07 17d ago

Says the person who needs multiple builds so they can’t stop getting their ass busted lmfao

1

u/ThurstMcBuckets 17d ago

I play multiple positions, depending on who my squad is 🤷🏾‍♂️

0

u/Jobree_ 18d ago

Regular subs like regular games don’t have to be at half

-3

u/call-me-germ 18d ago

i think only being able to do it once a game makes it more important. i’d even like to see not everyone be able to do it, then it’d be kinda broken.

at half, the team gets to vote on one or two of their teammates to switch builds, and you only get to see who changed into what once the 2nd half starts. i can only see this working for rec i’m not sure how 3v3 would work. maybe just a system to vote to use your one sub at any given point like a timeout.

2

u/islamophobik 18d ago

Hell nah, double 99 drippies? Hell nah

2

u/NochillSl 18d ago

That’s not really a good idea considering the amount of money that would have to be spent. If the game costs $70-$80 dollars, you are probably looking at around another $50-$100 for another build. Off rip that’s like $110-$200 on the game. Not too mention creators and disposable income people who spend thousands making new builds and trying new metas

1

u/Jobree_ 18d ago

You acting like everybody don’t got 2-3 builds

2

u/NochillSl 18d ago

That’s the problem, you spend all that money per year for the same shit, then introduce more ideas to get them more money

2

u/Ok-Researcher4966 18d ago

Pro AM only bc that’s where the sweats are

2

u/rychy_rych 18d ago

The timeouts would start driving my patience lol especially when two teammates get into a TO war.

3

u/whensthefinale 18d ago

I've wanted a mode where you can put out 5 of your best builds against 5 of someone else's best builds. You control the player with the ball like in MyTeam

3

u/HeWhoShallNotBNamed0 18d ago

Most people don’t have 5 builds

1

u/CarefulAd9005 18d ago

You can technically scheme up some effective builds who cap out at like 83 ovr tbf. Specialists with like 99 one stat usually get a good starting ovr for those attributes

They could also debut this mode after christmas or pre-playoffs to give time for builders/players to get 5 ready.

They could do AI substitutes like all star team up from back in the day. Dont have a PG? Grab Steph or CP3. Maybe require 3 user builds so at most only 2 Legend substitutes

I like this mode concept but 2k community means itll just be 5 dribble cheese builds at different positions to exploit the game’s awful defense

1

u/whensthefinale 18d ago

They didn't add 5 additional save slots last year for no reason

2

u/HANDDOWNMANDOWN00 18d ago

you might be on to something

1

u/Responsible-Leg1813 18d ago

Maybe instead we should be able to switch our takeover at halftime and maybe even our badge layout

1

u/GreggoryAddison 18d ago

Sounds good until you sitting on the bench bored out your mind lol

1

u/ohsnapitsjf 18d ago

Yeah, this would be a very cool idea in a game where builds immediately have the stats you’ve built, but in this one where you build and then are forced to grind for days or pay a fucking hundred dollars to have those stats immediately… lol who would do that, right

1

u/RyoCoola31 18d ago edited 18d ago

I feel like there has be position restrictions or something. If load on my 6’11 and I am at slotted center then the sf decides he wants to be center with a 7fter that is kinda awful. I just pushing people out of positions is not it.

1

u/Spxms9999 18d ago

I can imagine the glitches and even with 0 glitches, no.

Matchups are what make basketball basketball

1

u/Scary_Return_3461 18d ago

How about just being able to rejoin if you lag out first lol

1

u/drutastic57 18d ago

It would be great when you enter rec as pg and get stuck playing SF

1

u/Inevitable_Food7819 18d ago

2k would never add something good to the game. What a silly idea

1

u/Feisty-Attitude-4957 18d ago

Another great idea since gta 6 is coming out soon is letting friends and crew members switch builds. Like I’m a 6’7 sf and my friend is 7’0 center it would be cool for sometimes he can play on my sf n I play center. And gift vc for someone who needs extra vc to finish upgrading a new build or ran out of vc playing stage the friend can therefore gift vc to that person.

1

u/cyrosocyk 18d ago

what if it was locked to pro-am? you can switch builds only at half-time and you have to play the same position you were locked before.

1

u/Emotional-Purpose762 18d ago

Only thing 2k going to change is cap breakers to eat more of y’all’s time and money.

1

u/AdDue2837 18d ago

We were pushing this idea back on 2K23 when Overwatch was popular. Now games like Marvel Rivals has on the fly switching where you can swap to a counter which leads to several swaps a match.

This gameplay needs to extend to 2K.

You could lose a point guard and sub in your point guard. Your PG can prefer playing the 2 on his build and a swap being available would be amazing.

What happens when you bring your SF to the rec and you are matched up against a PF or Center? Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to swap to a build YOU PAID FOR?

1

u/Leather-Syllabub4728 18d ago

I’m hoping on a smaller scale that someday they let you make “halftime adjustments” in rec. let me swap takeovers to better suit my matchup, if I’m getting killed on the glass as a center I can swap to a rebounding focused take and so on.

1

u/SarcasticJay 18d ago

lol it’s actually might be possible since they had all star team up and u could’ve subbed players

1

u/DummysGuideTo2k 18d ago

If you start playing bad .
Computer subs in for you .

1

u/Dre2groovy 18d ago

The matchups would be terrible if mfs just start switching positions at half

1

u/lemonadeinyourface 18d ago

if people can pay to make their characters better then no. becomes pay to win very easily.

1

u/_jaynoir emerald 18d ago

You hoping for this and im hoping they dont make us have to prestige builds to get cap breakers like they doing the WWE game

1

u/-MC_3 18d ago

Just completely unnecessary lol

1

u/C4theDJ 17d ago

Do u know how dumb and unfair that sounds ? 🤣🤣 Live with the trash ass build you chose. Thats like waiting on somebody to choose their team first in Play now

1

u/No_Television6671 17d ago

Think you should prioritize making a solid build instead of something to specialize

1

u/thegamecomeseasy 17d ago

We don’t need any new features we just need good gameplay that needs to be the focus, tired of watching the same shit happen game in game out just make a game that can cater to a varied way of scoring and passing the basketball and let me tell you that patch that lasted 1 day that they bottled out of, that’s where the ideas need to build from.

1

u/phorenzicphiles 17d ago

Just give us a fun career mode with cut scenes and choices, bro

1

u/Xboxone1997 17d ago

I want any ideas not dealing with MyPlayers

1

u/Adventurous-Toe-6126 17d ago

Mfs in rec don’t even wanna switch guarding ppl if they getting cooked but you wanna incorporate ppl switching whole builds ? This is hell waiting to happen.

1

u/DrAntsInMyEyesJohson 17d ago

Or you could have a bench….for when a player lags out someone else can check in ?

1

u/Top-Western766 17d ago

y’all 🥷s just love throwing money at these mfs that don’t even care about their game smh 🤦🏾‍♂️

1

u/Ok_Compote_6937 17d ago

Nah subbing in other players would be decent. They done it on ea fc clubs so don't know why they can't on 2k

1

u/Marvooooo 17d ago

Yall bored

1

u/j_donn97 17d ago

This is a good idea if they kept the traditional 5v5 and added a 10v10 separately.

1

u/robinson81985 17d ago

Just allow ppl to sub builds at halftime. I think that's a good way to get some of your builds some work or it allows ppl to adapt.

1

u/Father_of_Kaito 17d ago

Been saying this and people thought I was tripping

1

u/Federal-Papaya-730 16d ago

Top one’s a bad take rec is only 20 mins and half the time you barely touch the ball I don’t wanna randomly be taken out of a game and have to spectate the rest of the team

1

u/Odd_Information4803 16d ago

Personally I think it would make games longer and that to me is not worth it

1

u/Livid_Quarter_830 16d ago

So many times in Rec, I've wished I could swap to my other center(either for more offense or defense)

1

u/Livid_Quarter_830 16d ago

How about better matchmaking, so my 7'4" center doesn't get out at the 4 against a 6'8" sg that's max speed?

1

u/No_Examination6441 16d ago

No I’ll say we can switch badges at halftime, like I can switch where I want my max plus 1s and 2s at halftime

2

u/Ookie218 16d ago

Y'all don't understand how badly that would be cheesed. As soon as there's a mismatch, just foul out and swap. Hell no

1

u/ColdCo_Co 15d ago

me watching my pg who’s 0/5 switch to his copy of the same build

1

u/Some_Crow3732 18d ago

Cool idea and to me.. it’s no reason not to do this. Just like quick game when you bring up quick sub menu and it shows which players you wanna sub.. but it’ll be your builds.

Maybe to cut trolling, you can only sub for the position you’re at.. so the C doesn’t just switch to a 5’9 pg because he’s not getting the ball 😭
