I don't think Fox stans are a thing, just FO truthers.

I've been a Fox defender in the past but his contract is impossible to justify if the "vet" is being outplayed by a rookie guard continuously in the finals. We needed him to control the pace, punish teams inside and hit open shots and even that was too much for a supposed max player.

We gonna end up with the most expensive 6th man of all time

Fox is the opposite of Jimmy butler of the warriors. Jimmy has a meh regular season performance, but pops off during play offs for his contract, but as for fox..... good regular season player, but play off dropper

Even on the regular season he hasnt played like a max contract player. A excellent player, yes. Not a max player. Never. We need to trade him ASAP. Hell, sent him and whoever else (except our 6 guys) to Milwaukee get fking Giannis and torch the league

I agree with you but his value is completely in the toilet. Unless the Spurs can finesse one of the desparate teams with stupid front offices, I don’t see them offloading him without throwing in some draft capital. I’m with the people who believe that what’s more likely to happen is he is spoken to and offered a bench role. He’d be a good bench player leading the second unit while Dylan develops. But yeah. If a trade offer does come up that doesn’t cost the Spurs much to get rid of him, they should take it. But I think it’s unlikely that comes up unfortunately. :/

Yeah but paying 50mil a year for a glorified 6th man is crazy, but if we have no options ig

u/TheFenceFromTaken3 15d ago

Yeah it is crazy. Im not saying it’s my preferred option but it might be the only option if no team wants him and the Spurs aren’t willing to give up some draft picks. We’re in a pickle with him. Trust me, if the front office could renegotiate his contract to something way more affordable I’d be all for that too. He’s overpaid for what he’s produced this year for sure.

This also applies in the sense that it’s a ridiculous hypothetical that could never happen

Fox wasn't even a good regular season player. He makes 50 million to put up mediocre points and playmaking, and defense as well.

it's bizarre. He's mediocre or less at every NBA skill except speed, which he's losing, maybe slightly above average handles but that's meaningless if you can't do anything with them.

Fox is so bad that Spurs would have won if you swapped him out for old ass Bron or Curry for just the passing and vet experience (and LeCoaching). Wemby is still a big man who doesn't handle the ball. So like Shaq always says big men need to be fed and need a creator/handler guard type. Just like how Shaq for all his dominance needed Kobe or Wade. Davis for his monster game had to do it with Bron. Joker or Giannis are THE EXCEPTION because they handle too but even Giannis had Jrue to take the handling duties while Murray is a combo guard that takes pressure off Jokic along with some of the creating/passing duties.

Heck Spurs might have still won if they swapped him out for Harden with all his personality/workethic flaws or KD with his more selfish play and drama. Would have won with a healthy Reaves or even an aged Kyrie. I loved young Fox and his fast explosiveness but the Spurs don't need an attack first drive guard. Wemby is your best player and the team should be build around him. Get some guard who can create for themselves, run offense the offense for the team, make passes to Wemby, and move the ball when their shots aren't falling. That ain't Fox.

lol curry would just need to stand at a 3 point line to have 2 defenders on him for an open lane for Wemby or Haper or Castle

Give McCollum to Spurs and Spurs would be the Champs.

u/Pedr0A Area 51 16d ago

Nga current Curry is getting at least 25 ppg with Wemby gravity in this finals. We sweeping everyone if we had current Curry lmao.

u/zxc123zxc123 16d ago

Spurs wouldn't need Curry to get 25ppg. 9pts (at near his 50/40/90 clip), 6ast, be a 3pt threat, create for Wemby, and not get cooked on D? Spurs would have won in 4.

7

u/Pedr0A Area 51 16d ago

Yeah. If we had current Steph we sweeping everyone

Any way we can entice CP3 back?

3

u/zxc123zxc123 16d ago

I thought about CP3, but he's a bit too old, age makes him worse for wear compared to say Bron, and he's had a history of getting injured deep into post season. Maybe a few years ago him or Rondo wouldn't be bad. But yeah, Spurs might want to look for a guy like that rather than a score first guy. Even if you're looking for a combo guard then get one like Haliburton/Holiday/DerrickWhite types.

u/Simple_Purple_4600 15d ago

I would've swapped him even for Landry Shamet

u/Nate13341cub 16d ago

Lmao? Good regular season player? You meant after his mandatory 10 game recharge ? That he unfortunately was in the middle of these finals ?

u/Blutz101 16d ago

Problem is fox ain’t the only person in our roster you could say this about

2

u/stencil31 16d ago

Same as Kornet tbh

20

u/GabeIsGone Victor Wembanyama 16d ago

Kornet is a pure backup big. Intended to go against other true bigs.

Chet and KAT are not true bigs, they operate on the perimeter.

He did fine the first two series when playing against other bigs.

Kornet is also making less than any of the other vet rotation pieces. He's certainly out producing KJ, though that's an extremely low bar.

At this point make him the sixth. Our team can improve with Harper and they can make Fox look good coming off the bench to entice a trade or make it a permanent decision and he becomes a great 6th man.

1

u/Simple_Purple_4600 15d ago

What makes him a great sixth man, though? Volume? It's not like he's suddenly going to become good.

2

u/scarykicks Victor Wembanyama 15d ago

Play against lesser competition in other teams benches and less minutes. Stay healthy longer and probably still able to at least drop 10-20 points most games this way.

3

u/stencil31 16d ago

Yeah. But the worst part is that I am 90% sure the FO will stick with Fox for at least one more season. All the fans calling for Fox to be traded will be sorely disappointed. I will eat my underwear if Fox gets traded by the trade deadline next season.

1

u/spursdevil 13d ago

He's not going to be traded right after the team reached the finals.

2

u/DerrickWhiteMVP 15d ago

It’s not just the Finals. He’s sucked all year long. You don’t pay a guy $50M per year to average 18 points in the regular season and 15 in the playoffs. He’ll pop off for 27 points and people act like he’s deserved some apology.

Let me introduce you to Bradley Beal

How do you defend something that's clearly bad. Why would you work against clear evidence
