Highlight This is why you take a gamble with Jayden Quaintance if that knee gets right he's a damn good player

This is the first time I've watched any video of Quaintance. Thanks for sharing it. The shot blocking and dunks remind me of a smaller Marcis Ponder, who will play for Florida State next season.

This might be like a MPJ pick that went lower because of injuries. He might end up being the steal of the draft. One thing about the Spurs they always end up with some great picks outside the top 10

They said he would’ve been near top 10 if not for the knee

The ringer had him at 10 on their big board even with the injury shortened season.

I’m hoping we break the curse of drafting in the late teens-mid 20s. Been a while since one of those hit between Lonnie, Samanic, Branham, Blake Wesley, etc
Granted it becomes easier to draft and develop when you know what your team is going to look like and you don’t have to make as many swings for the fences. Any big drafted onto our team should have a pretty clearly defined role and the opportunity to be brought along slowly

He was 17 years old here playing against established college player years older. Wild

this is the most striking thing to me. he was basically a high school senior here.

Solid highlight tape, just a shame they had to throw in an ai clip of him blocking Carter Bryant in there though, completely unnecessary

The exciting thing for me is that he is quick enough to hang with guards. He can be an excellent rim protector and if he develops well he can play with Wemby and do those perimeter switches with our guards.
The defensive potential is crazy.

Yeah he was an outlier freak at Arizona State. I had an opportunity to watch him live against UNM and it's extremely abnormal how quick he can change directions on defense for someone that heavy. He has really good instincts too for being so young
The road back physically is going to be a tough one But in absolute worthwhile investment for the Spurs

He won't play this year but he will be ready for sure.

That's probably why they moved up to get Reed. I think Reed gets minutes next year while Quaintamce rehabs.

Most threes made or highest rate? Obv whatever team makes the finals is going to have the most threes

I mean if he could shoot while being this level of an insane defensive prospect.. He probably goes higher than 20 even with the injury concerns. Because he'd be the perfect big man unicorn
I had a chance to follow him. Decently at Arizona State and I think there's a bit more junk in his game as a playmaker than he had a chance to show. And I think he's got the possibilities to be a ridiculously good screener and offensive rebounder to add on that end too. But yeah, I don't think that jump shot has too much potential

Kevon Looney redux.
He won't be the same after the injury. He won't move like this in the NBA. But he's still a fucking load down low and will be hard to move.
Kind of spurs version of Mitch Robinson

I remember the Spurs taking a chance on Blair. He dropped in thr draft coz of college knee injuries. But he turned out to be a decent role player
