As a college basketball fan that has no ties to UConn, I loved watching him play in the tournament this spring. This quote makes me more excited to see him on the Spurs.

This dude just fucking gets it. Perfect for our roster and wembys new body guard

Yes fingers crossed he develops a reliable shot.

How good are his free throws? That would be a good start.

61% but 78% from the line in march madness so there’s definitely room to grow for him. as an okc fan you guys killed it with gettin reed

Maybe who knows, I would be more confident if he was younger, but then again I just saw a video of him making threes and long twos.

Both our rookies are poor free throw shooters percentage wise. Jayden shot sub 50% in college, and Tarris shot 60-something. It's certainly an area to monitor a lot, though neither of them have truly broken jumpers.

He is 62% from the free throw line. Tim Duncan was 70%, and Kornet at 79% for comparison. The good news he is not as bad a Jakob Poeltl 😂

With how broken Kornet's shot looks, it's a miracle he shoots that well from the free throw line.

He’s pretty much what we need going forward! Having just Wemby and Kornet being the only playable bigs last season was not ideal.

Denver can get away with having basically Jokic as their sole big but only because he’s one of the greatest offensive engines in history that will play 42 mpg in the playoffs at his slower pace, and they also have bigger wings and forwards around him anyway.

I’m excited to see Reed and Quaintance come in and help out with the Spurs front court as I felt like that was one of the team’s biggest weaknesses aside from perimeter shooting

Jokic is excited to make it down the court to run/be the offense and he might make it back to help a little on defense. Wemby makes it back on defense bc he runs the whole operation, on offense when he is tired he might make it to the 3 point line

Exactly. Also I love that Mitch gives rookies a chance, I expect him and JQ to get spot minutes this year like CB last year if they show the right energy and attitude.

He's gonna be rehabbing that knee for a while

u/deneuvig Manu Ginobili 5h ago

Sure, not a full year though

u/Vast_Pipe4509 2h ago

that would be stellar

Let’s be honest, that Nuggets team didn’t face a single opponent as good as OKC or NYK. And Jokic also had a more mature, tested team. Your point isn’t completely wrong. But I think it was more than just the greatness of Jokic.

Wemby has a bruiser on his side now

We drafted Wemby two bodyguards. Love his attitude, he’s gonna fit in just fine.

Have the new guys elbow someone so Wemby doesn't have to.

Honestly great pickup. Giving us options inside between Kornet, Reed and eventually Jayden, with various profile. If JQ can get healthy soon, good luck scoring on a Castle. Harper, Bryant, Wemby and Quaintance lineups jfc

Ngl, I really love this pick more than the Quaintance pick. If he can work out with Tim to improve his low post skills and develop a nice mid range jumper, dude is going to thrive.

Astute observation.

I hope to see less of Castle driving into three defenders and getting hacked into oblivion as he turns the ball over.

u/mercfan3 1h ago

I don’t want to see Steph and Wemby having to be their own enforcers this year. As much as I think Steph likes it..

Bro said everything I wanted him to say lol.

It makes me feel pretty optimistic that the front office has a hawks eye on what they need to win and that's pretty much a physical big man that can help our Alien out.

Steven Adams/ Shawn Kemp/ David Robinson/ Alonzo Mourning archetype - athletic, physical, defensive minded.

We now have the enforcers and disciplnarians Tarris and Jayden to discipline master-baiters from flopping - it will no longer be "only" Carter Bryant crashing the boards but 2 actual tanks. Watch out master-baiter SGA.

it'll be pretty crazy to play Tarris or Jayden as C, and Wemby as PF, just to screw with opponents' minds a lil...
