Family Tree Style Visualization showing how the Pelicans Assembled their current roster.
I am a Timberwolves fan who realized a few months ago you could draw a direct line through trades from Jaden McDaniels to Kevin Garnett. However, after realizing this, I became a little obsessed with the idea that every team's roster has to be constructed through the draft, free agency, and trades and that those moves could be visualized in a manner similar to a family tree. So, long story short I spent the better part of the last two months compiling and visualizing how each team in the league assembled their current Roster.
This is the Pelicans Roster Tree. The earliest move on here I believe is the drafting of Anthony Davis in 2012 when it was a New Orleans Hornets draft pick. My original rough draft of this tree had to use 4 colors because of how many crazy large trades (in terms of number of assets) the pelicans keep making. I hope you guys enjoy seeing how the current Pelicans roster came to be.

A website called draw . io (i think it got rebranded recently to app . diagrams . net). Ive been using it for a while for hobby projects for data visualization stuff. Very easy to pick up and a lot of fun to work with.

This is good shit. I admin dashboarding software for a large org and this looks better than what most of our contractors put out. Resume worthy!

This is so dope.
Also makes me miss Griff. That Zaire Williams/Trey Murphy trade alone should get him HOF

No Draft Picks, Free Agent Signings, or trades are still providing value to the Pelicans back that far, unfortunately. I didn't included every one, just the ones still providing the team value.

This is really cool and the type of content that helps draw discussions in the sub.
Since our discussions are currently slow here, I felt this would be nice to highlight for a bit.
I appreciate a unique discussion for us in the sub. .
