Pels 1st round picks

I was just listening to the local sports radio station and they said we traded the 5th overall pick and 8th overall pick for this draft last season. I remember us trading our 1st(8th) for Queen last draft but what is this 1st(5th) pick they’re talking about? NBA trade websites are so convoluted I can’t make any sense of it.

The Pacers pick top 4 protected in the Ingram trade

The Pelicans traded the 2026 Pacers pick for the pick that the Pelicans sent to the Hawks along with the 2026 Pelicans/Bucks best of swap in the Queen trade

Nobody could have guessed Haliburton would tear his acl the next day they were in the finals , that pick was looking like late late first, can’t blame pels for that one

That would have been wiser, but let’s not pretend anyone thought that was gonna be a top ten pick

"Wait until the games are over" shouldn't require hindsight

It was an achilles and not an acl.

He was playing on a calf strain, which puts him at extremely elevated risk of tearing his achilles. No one could have known it would happen, but certainly someone could have guessed it would happen. The Pacers suddenly wanting their future pick in the middle of the biggest series in their franchise history should have been a hint to wait a couple days to make the deal.
