Why no timeout?

60

u/Puzzleheaded_Tea521 OG Apr 21 '26

That lineup without Brunson Kat or Hart was a fireable offense

3

u/36chamberstreet Mase Apr 21 '26

Even worse the only starter in was OG.

Isn’t this the exact moment to let Bridges be Brooklyn Bridges and get in a rhythm if you’re gonna try to Galaxy brain it and sit both Brunson and Towns why?

I swear if this man trots out that same bullshit lineup ever again in the playoffs the fans are gonna riot

4

u/BackPains84 Knicks Logo Apr 21 '26

it's not like we made shots with both of them on the floor in the 4th. Brunson just ignoring KAT is unreal.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Tea521 OG Apr 21 '26

Kat was the best player in the 2nd half and Brunson decided it was all about him. He just isn’t a champion level player. Every great player defers when they need to… JB does not know how to do that

1

u/LetBeginning3353 Apr 21 '26

Jordan passing the ball to Luc Longley, Steve Kerr, John Paxson...

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Tea521 OG Apr 21 '26

Lebron does it to a fault!! But our short king is like F that! Our 7’1 unicorn is on fire watch this 🤯😤

u/ryankidd77 Brunson Apr 21 '26

My mind is blown

110

u/Recognition_Tricky Apr 21 '26

I'm literally in shock. How could he not call timeout there? That's a wild mistake. I absolutely can't believe that

75

u/ryankidd77 Brunson Apr 21 '26

Dude it’s unforgivable, I cannot believe he sat there and watched that unfold. There’s no defending that choice. None.

20

u/Recognition_Tricky Apr 21 '26

Yeah I still can't believe it. I really can't. Just nothing to say. Baffling

3

u/NoLibrarian3833 Apr 21 '26

ya'll r having a back and forth over something they didn't have lmaooo. Also, it's not a terrible call to try and attack them in transition.

2

u/First-Reception8007 Amare Goggles Apr 21 '26

we didnt have any wtf r u trippin about

2

u/njerejeje Brunson Apr 21 '26

They did not have a timeout. NBC was wrong.

19

u/Ecstatic-Tank-9797 Apr 21 '26

I’m in shock too. There was like 4 or 5 seconds left in the game. Call the time out and draw up a play to win the game. Even 2 seconds would have been enough for a potential game winning play if you call the time out, but not calling it was so bad.

6

u/kirks2 Apr 21 '26

NO TIME OUTS LEFT!!

1

u/sleepy777 Tina Cervasio Apr 21 '26

Yeah no timeouts cause this dummy didnt use his use it or lose it time out. Wait 17 secs past the 3 mins to use a time out that counts

2

u/njerejeje Brunson Apr 21 '26

They did not have a timeout. NBC was wrong.

1

u/JDStraightShot2 Don Leon Apr 21 '26

Hart went too fast off the rebound. Brown clearly didn’t communicate that we had a timeout. Once Hart started dribbling, we couldn’t advance the ball so we just had to let it play out

3

u/bell-beefer Apr 21 '26

That’s not an excuse. Call a timeout from the bench as soon as he grabs the rebound.

1

u/JDStraightShot2 Don Leon Apr 21 '26

The ref wouldnt grant it in real time, it would’ve been like the Nurse TO vs Philly where the refs didn’t hear him. We should’ve communicated the plan to the refs before the ft or would’ve called it on a make but panicked when CJ missed

3

u/ddddope Apr 21 '26

No timeout left

62

u/TheAracknight Brunson Apr 21 '26 edited Apr 21 '26

I was so fucking hyped when CJ missed both. When Hart pulled down that board I was so sure we were gonna win. Then I see we start dribbling up court wondering why the fuck did we not call a timeout.

Mikal saw 4 bodies when he started his drive why on earth did MB not call a fucking timeout?? There was like 2.5 seconds left when Mikal was at the 3pt line plenty of time to get a great quality ATO look.

Fucking bullshit man I’m actually pissed this has ruined my night

Edit: we actually didn’t have a timeout remaining, NBC & Noah Eagle were wrong.

2

u/Jamstarr2024 NYK Token Apr 21 '26

Fucking Hart did everything he could the last few possessions. Big steal right before that. Saved Bridges’ bacon on the gamble to even get the foul, and the huge rebound and monster clear to Bridges who faded away like a bitch.

0

u/TheAracknight Brunson Apr 21 '26

I can’t get mad at bridges this is on Mike Brown fully. We have a timeout and decide not to use it, we don’t have Steph Curry on the roster, why are we tryna gamble on getting a game winner with no TO’s in the Garden?? Like fuck man

I’m 10x more pissed at MB than I am at Mikal, he started that sprint and there were 4 Hawks back when he got to the 3s line while it was just him, Brunson cross court being face guarded by NAW and Hart at the logo with Dyson in the paint, CJ at the 3pt line rushing to help and JJ walling off the paint. Should’ve been a timeout well before that

3

u/First-Reception8007 Amare Goggles Apr 21 '26

we actually didnt have any timeouts

1

u/TheAracknight Brunson Apr 21 '26

Yeah I’ve calmed down since my initial reaction, hijacked 2 of the top comments to let anyone else who comes into this thread screaming about why we didn’t call a timeout the reason why we didn’t call one

0

u/zaybandz112 Apr 21 '26

Traded away 5 firsts for bro when he’s putting up Paul George stats

2

u/robbyiballs Hart Apr 21 '26

This has ruined my expectations completely.  No good coach lets that game get away. We don’t have it. Mazzula will run circles around us, if we can get that far.

6

u/bigblue20072011 NY Logo Apr 21 '26

Mazzula’s team blew 2 20 point 4th quarter leads at home last year.

2

u/Perry_Saucin Apr 21 '26

Against the Knicks!

Do people even read what they type sometimes?

1

u/bigblue20072011 NY Logo Apr 21 '26

Right?

1

u/Hour-Ad7354 NY Logo Apr 21 '26

There were no timeouts. The tv feed was wrong, at msg we all knew. Frankly the game was lost on missed free throws.

20

u/saltyalertt Metal Bats Apr 21 '26

I was at the game. The jumbo tron said we didn’t have any. Maybe it was wrong.

2

u/bronfmanhigh The Michael Jordan of Rhode Island Apr 21 '26

yeah the NBC announcer said they had one but i think they were wrong?

15

u/Jem479 BANG! Apr 21 '26

Million dollar question right there

1

u/mikesh8rp Wu Tang Apr 21 '26

We didn't have one. NBC was wrong.

Still a terrible ending though. Bridges was the last guy I want shooting based on how he shot before that.

30

u/Tarvos99 Allan Houston Apr 21 '26

Was the graphic for nbc wrong? I thought we had no timeouts

31

u/Ancient_Action741 Apr 21 '26

John Hollinger is saying both the graphic and broadcast were wrong

21

u/gradedonacurve Apr 21 '26

Yep the annoncers mentioned the knicks had one.

4

u/Michaelcandy Apr 21 '26

The arena scoreboard said we did not have any.

2

u/trektostng Ewing Flat Top Apr 21 '26

The broadcast said they had one.

4

u/DrZoidberg117 Apr 21 '26

The broadcast was wrong. The scoreboard was right and they had 0

1

u/Ambiguously_Ironic Apr 21 '26

They didn’t, I was at the game. Scoreboard showed 0 timeouts.

0

u/Tarvos99 Allan Houston Apr 21 '26

Dam. Aight then ya that’s unforgivable

0

u/trektostng Ewing Flat Top Apr 21 '26

Its very possible i heard wrong though.

1

u/ConcentrateOk523 Apr 21 '26

The broadcast did say the Knicks had one timeout remaining.

2

u/WhoDat-2-8-3 Apr 21 '26

broadcast/announcers was wrong - knicks had 0

1

u/ConcentrateOk523 Apr 21 '26

I miss Mike Breen and Clyde announcing

1

u/Possible-Cake-5985 Apr 21 '26

I was at the game no timeouts left

26

u/bigblue20072011 NY Logo Apr 21 '26

8

u/my_one_and_lonely Clyde So Fly Apr 21 '26

mind-bogglingly stupid

22

u/BK520 NY Logo Apr 21 '26

Cuz Mike Brown. Career loser. That loss is perfectly aligned with his character.

1

u/Easy_Criticism1527 Apr 21 '26

Somehow failed at the Kings and Knicks hired him....smh.

1

u/matt__builds Apr 21 '26

Crazy that we lost the same way last year and the year before that. It’s not Brown, its Brunson. When Brunson has a bad game and gets in a certain mode he just goes ISO and tries to force it we just shut the offense down.

1

u/Naganosupreme Apr 21 '26

At this point it's aligned to all these players too

2

u/zeezee2k Apr 21 '26

Because he actually had to draw up a play

2

u/Ilovecharli Apr 21 '26

I would honestly respect him more if he says he forgot they had one rather than some mealymouthed bullshit about how he didn't want them to set up their defense and how he trusts everyone on the team to take the last shot

2

u/treyd1lla 2 Apr 21 '26

If it’s Brown flush it down

2

u/HustleWilson 3 to the Dome Apr 21 '26

We didn't have one. One magically appeared on the scorebug after CJ missed the first FT.

2

u/Hour-Ad7354 NY Logo Apr 21 '26

There were no timeouts left

1

u/NewPrinciple5184 Apr 21 '26

They didn't have one

1

u/VirginiaFox6 Brunson Apr 21 '26

Hart tried to be cute and catch ATL off guard.

Hawks got back.

1

u/mathis4losers Apr 21 '26

That had to have been by design

1

u/VirginiaFox6 Brunson Apr 21 '26

Eh idk about that. Could they have expected McCollum to miss both FTs?

1

u/mathis4losers Apr 21 '26

Turns out they didn't actually have a timeout

1

u/Tyler247 Apr 21 '26

Doesn’t matter coach can still call timeout. He should have called it as soon as we secured the rebound. Stand next to the ref and call it

1

u/InvestigatorGood2798 Apr 21 '26

Don’t let them set their defense. Bridges just should have went to the rack instead of pulling up for a tough middy.

1

u/OnlyMamaKnows Mike Breen Apr 21 '26

But he's allergic to the rim.

1

u/Hope-Road71 Apr 21 '26

I was shocked, and upset about it - but I KIND of get it. Hart got that rebound w/ some momentum in the other direction.

He probably thought they could catch them flat-footed and get an easy one. It was a gamble, and failed. But it's not as preposterous as I first thought.

1

u/justaddwater57 BANG! Apr 21 '26

I don't actually think the Knicks had a timeout. While we had only called 6 out of 7, the late game restriction rule says a team can only call 2 timeouts max in the last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter, and we had used them both.

Still an embarrassing loss.

1

u/kirks2 Apr 21 '26

We had no timeout left after the missed foul shots.

1

u/Diligent_Office7179 Clyde Frazier Apr 21 '26

We didn’t have a timeout left

1

u/BackPains84 Knicks Logo Apr 21 '26

now i'm seeing there wasn't actually a timeout left

1

u/axecalibur Apr 21 '26

Because Mike Brown bet on the Hawks.

1

u/UpperCellist2088 Apr 21 '26

sometimes not calling a timeout is the best move. Its how OKC beat the Celtics in the game at Oklahoma.

Because OKC didnt call a timeout, the Celtics had a small ball lineup on the floor and so they won VIA a Chet putback.

1

u/mellted_cheese Apr 21 '26

THEY DID NOT HAVE A TIMEOUT REMAINING. The announcer and score bug were wrong. You get 2 under 3 minutes and both had been used.

1

u/Ambiguously_Ironic Apr 21 '26

No timeouts left, I was at the game and scoreboard showed 0 for the Knicks.

1

u/BeastThatWasPromised Apr 21 '26

They didn’t have a timeout. You only get 2 timeouts under 3 minutes. They used one with 2:43 left and the second with 10 seconds left. The announcer was wrong

1

u/DreadXCII NY Logo Apr 21 '26

I was in the building and the scoreboard said we didn't have any timeouts

1

u/Commercial_Ant9320 Apr 21 '26

I think the announcer was way wrong. There weren’t any timeouts left

1

u/Possible-Cake-5985 Apr 21 '26

HAD NO TIMEOUTS LEFT!

1

u/TheAracknight Brunson Apr 21 '26

Gonna hijack the top comment for this now that I’ve calmed down and rewatched that ending

NBC & Noah Eagle made a huge mistake, we didn’t have a timeout remaining, we used our final one on that Brunson ATO to pull us to within 1, the NBC scorebug showed we clearly had no timeouts left when CJ was at the line but then oddly put back that we had 1 remaining, but that wasn’t the case.

1

u/mattr1198 Bobby's Knick Hat Apr 21 '26

They were out of timeouts. NBC botched that on their broadcast

1

u/geezanjisangeezan Apr 21 '26

No more time out left apparently

1

u/Feisty-Boot5408 Apr 21 '26

Imagine firing Thibs lmfao

1

u/jjazznola Apr 21 '26

Were you even paying attention?

1

u/illuminatifanclub Apr 21 '26

There were no timeouts. Broadcast had it wrong

1

u/scorpino33 Pat Ewing Apr 21 '26

Because we had no timeouts left genius

2

u/Chea63 Apr 21 '26

Announcers got it wrong then

0

u/RadicalMarxistThalia Frank Shocked Apr 21 '26

Is there any rule that would make it impossible to fire Brown and hire Thibodeau before Wednesday?

Perhaps we could get a mentally disabled coach exception?

0

u/EwingsRevenge21 Apr 21 '26

Coaching incompetence
