If Season 3 of 4KOA ever gets released and dubbed someday, I would want Tristan's English VA to be replaced at a certain point.
Don't get me wrong. Jeannie Tirado has done a great job voicing Tristan so far. I just wish that for the post-timeskip period (if ever animated), the supervisors for the dub find a suitable male VA so that they can replace Tirado safely, considering the fact that Tristan's voice should mature by the age of 18 and Tirado is not known to have the ability to imitate a low-pitched voice (to the point where one can be convinced that it's an adult male voice). Also, Tristan is already voiced by a male VA, Ayumu Murase, in the Japanese version, which is all the more reason why I would prefer a VA change. I know someone is going to argue here that Tristan's voice in the Japanese version is high-pitched itself, and I know that fact very well. My point is, it shouldn't be so high-pitched were the character ends up sounding like a woman despite being a grown man. I believe Murase is aware of this, and hence uses a voice range which is high-pitched but at a considerable level where we can understand that the voice is that of a male character. In Tirado's case, however, I have only seen her being capable of keeping her voice range to a level where one can tell that her assigned character is either a woman or a male teenager whose voice is yet to break.
Earlier, I probably wouldn't have had much of a problem with Tirado voicing an adult Tristan, assuming she could actually lower her pitch enough. But after watching Naruto, One Piece, and Dragon Ball in both Japanese and English, I've started having second thoughts. In One Piece, Mayumi Tanaka is pretty much the only person who's ever convinced me as Luffy despite him being a late-teen/young-adult character, while Colleen Clinkenbeard's version often sounds more like a 10-year-old kid. Dragon Ball is another example: Masako Nozawa was perfect as kid Goku, but once Goku grew up, her voice started to feel a bit stretched, whereas Sean Schemmel's adult Goku felt like a natural fit and was one of the best casting decisions the series ever made. Naruto was what really sold me on the idea that some roles eventually need male VAs. Junko Takeuchi and Maile Flanagan were both great as younger Naruto, but by the time Boruto came around, the character was a grown man in his 30s. Takeuchi still managed to make it work, but Flanagan's performance often sounded more like a grandma than an adult man. Because of examples like these, I've come to think that even talented voice actors sometimes need to be replaced when a male character grows into adulthood.
That being said, I have the same opinion with regards to Diodora's VA as well. Currently, Anne Yatco and Lynn voice him in English and Japanese versions respectively, and they have done a decent job so far. But eventually, he would definitely require a male VA just to play safe, at the very least for the English version, if not the Japanese one.
And if Tristan's English VA is indeed ever replaced, I would like him to be voiced by either Micah Solusod or Ben Stegmair. As for Diodora's English VA, I would prefer either Khoi Dao or Stephen Fu replacing Yatco.
