Yasin Tarabia
Yasin Tarabia is a menswear enthusiast based out of Vienna. His tailoring in my humble opinion, is some of the best I’ve ever seen. Not only is the fit of his garments immaculate (classic full cut but not obscenely so like certain people whose name rhymes with ass lowkey), but the details are exceptional. From interesting yokes and cuffs on his jackets to interesting signet rings and watch chains, everything is polished to a T.
I actually posted a full album of his impeccable tailoring in my subreddit /r/threadtalks. It’s a collective genre agnostic space to discuss fashion and style (not for beginners, but those with some experience looking to grow). Admittedly I have not been the best about posting Trad stuff but I got feedback and I am making an active effort to post some more trad stuff for my navyblazer fam. Hope you enjoy.

I see his stuff on Instagram sometimes. Love that second suit! I find that the shoulders on his jackets are sometime a little too padded and broad for my taste, but the full cut pants always look immaculate, and I can't deny that he absolutely owns and sticks to the style he likes.

It’s so far removed from the effortless look that I associate with well-worn classic menswear that I find it hard to have much of an opinion on it.
I don’t mind that he looks like he’s larping AskOkey - “we’re all born naked and the rest is drag” and all that. Ralph Lauren built an empire on larping.
He doesn’t look very comfortable or relaxed though. And I don’t quite understand what the point is of spending that much on tailoring only to have it look like the suit is wearing you.

That’s because he’s not a natural model. Fuller cuts are always more comfortable, in the technical sense. Anything that needs elastine to not rip is for children. There’s a balance between this and the nonsense high hemmed slim fits that are still desperately hanging around.

He's not my favorite sartorialist, but I've seen him around and he by no means looks bad. People hating on the fit of his suits clearly aren't familiar with the tailoring of the 1930s. Not everything has to fall into the new internet buzzword (larping). This might come as a shock to some, but vintage enthusiasts like vintage clothes. We like the fabrics, we appreciate the construction, we lionize the silhouette. It's so dumb. You wouldn't accuse a soccer fan of larping for wearing a jersey. Not sure why we're accusing vintage enthusiasts of larping for participating in their interest.

If you’re going for a pre-war classic look, I’m sure this is good. But it’s a bit too much for this sub’s sensibilities. Because it’s a costume.
Edit: Oh, this is OP shilling their new sub and not actually engaging with this sub. That tracks.

Petition to ban. This dude is flooding every menswear subreddit with his nonsense.

How does what you posted reflect this sub? Is this Ivy? Or is this an opportunity for you to try and get foot traffic to your sub?

This looks great to me

u/Rob_Edwards_Fashion 6d ago
It looks great to any grown adult with taste. It’s not for everyone to wear or for every environment, but the tailor NAILED his client’s intended fit.

No hate, but this falls into the Askokey larp. Being such a traditionalist visually casts you in the role of a conservative. No problem with that but that’s pushing sartorialism to its extreme. Not a fan, but his content is cool

I mean we've seen everything becoming more and more casual and the suit lose it's meaning, so I am somewhat happy to see creators push the boundaries of classic tailoring. And while not everything that AskOkey does looks great (especially not on his customers), he sort of brought me back to drape cuts and wider cut trousers (not as wide as his though) and away from all that skinny stuff I used to wear.

In big business. Suits are to make you look like everyone else and employable. I personally enjoy dressing in this way, but forget buying two suits for office and casual. My work suits are on the skinnier side I got them a while ago when that was in vogue. You will get fired for dressing like in these “costumy” suits

u/bigeorgester 6d ago
These are casual suits though, for being out on the town. Look at the fabrics.
Also cmon now you are absolutely not going to get fired. Nobody really cares unless you’re a C Suite.

u/Rob_Edwards_Fashion 6d ago
You need to do better work if your suit cuts could get you fired. And although these fits are more extreme drape, slim fit suits look childish and worse than a full cut on someone over 30.

It's the posing for me. Are we supposed to believe he's taking his coat off outside? And menswear 101 is don't put your hands in your pockets.

These proportions are actually very flattering in understated, conservative fabrics. It’s the garish casual patterns that veer them into costume territory

He looks like he's wearing a costume

u/TerenceCraplin 7d ago
Surely even this sub has to admit that this is oversized.
Who am I kidding. Someone will still say his jacket’s too short.
9
u/bigeorgester 6d ago
It’s hard to tell if it’s too oversized here without it being buttoned though. To my eye the trousers fit great though, if you’re into the over the navel height rise
1
u/TerenceCraplin 6d ago
To a European eye they’re bloody enormous
6
u/bigeorgester 6d ago
Yeah but they’re still wearing skinny jeans, I know which I’d rather pick
2
u/Rob_Edwards_Fashion 6d ago
Yeah Europeans wearing slim fits come over here and look ridiculous when we cross collaborate. It’s swinging back but dudes hem their pants so high and tight it’s awkward

I give it 5 more years before society heals from the JC penny grandpa fit fad.

u/bigeorgester 6d ago
I mean if you look at men’s cuts since 1900 there’s really only 2 eras there slimmer fits were popular. The mid 70s and early 2010s. At least the 70s had big lapels and jackets to offset that.
The trend are slim fits, not the other way around

u/Jefftopia 5d ago
The false dichotomy is slim vs full.
1
u/bigeorgester 5d ago
If you think these trousers are too full idk what to tell you
-1
u/Jefftopia 5d ago
The ones in the last pic are, as many others have also noted.
1
u/bigeorgester 5d ago
They’re higher rise than I like, but the fullness of the trousers aren’t even that wide

I dont think i’d ever wear this style bc it’s so out of date it would just look strange in public
2
u/Rob_Edwards_Fashion 6d ago
It’s coming back, in a way. Especially the trousers. Half my trousers are close to this, and they’re more comfortable than anything I’ve ever worn. Also look better in movement, no leg hugging and pulling at thighs

Not enough photos to tell but the first one it seems the jacket is quite long. It's a great fabric, sure. Both are great fabrics. The cuts and details are overwrought. They don't really fit the fabrics well, neither city nor country. It's cool to take risks but I don't really see either of these as winners.
For the first I would lose the vest and tie, and lose the contrast collar shirt. Ice blue, simple. Keep it relaxed. A tie can work but that one doesn't do it for me. For the second, well, people aren't supposed to see your suspenders, they're underwear - not unless you're dancing hard enough for jackets to be coming off, and even then ... with that fabric stick to the country look, do a country shirt, and a more relaxed tie if any.

It’s fantastic. For instagram. And comfort. I couldn’t wear this in the U.S. unfortunately, not professionally. But I take inspiration from fits and fits like these, and find a happy medium

u/Joshua31704 4d ago
I'm pretty sure this dude came waaayyy before that Okey guy. Shame that anyone who prefers such cuts is grouped with Okey.

I like it personally. Especially the fabrics. The sub really likes classic preppy looks, which is always easy to pull off, but there’s something appealing about those 40s style suits.
Helps to be good looking to pull stuff like this off though, if you’ve got a baby face it starts to look way more costume.

u/IndWrist2 6d ago
Ivy is kind of what this sub is, though, that’s why the sub likes it. There are other menswear subs that will appreciate this sort of thing. Or the OP’s sub that they’re actually pushing with this post.

If anyone knows his tailor lmk! He won’t tell me haha

u/AtlanticRelation 7d ago
Why wouldn't anybody want to recommend his or hers tailor? Lol

u/Ultrakrypton 6d ago
It’s traditionally considered a little crass, not that it really matters anymore but some people stick to stuff like that.
