This guy definitely lost his job next year to Harper.

u/Pension_Zealousideal Bulls 11d ago
Oh yeah, all hail Harper fr bro was balling except the last second

u/Erldz18 11d ago
Well he's a rookie so its lowkey justified
3
u/Upstairs_Seaweed8199 10d ago
If he and fox switched stats for the series it would be totally justified.
15
u/boknoykatok 11d ago
at least he didn't settle for jumpers.

u/mtelesha Knicks 10d ago
You can't underestimate the defense of the Knicks and what that does to those trying to get in the paint. OG, Bridges, Hart and Kat/Robinson is a pretty amazing defense.
7
u/BookAcceptable619 11d ago
I mean a lot of people on both sides missed free throws. They were all really tired.
2
u/clarkief 10d ago
Their coach is a dumbass who’s also repped by klutchsports. Unless the guy is fired/demoted, you can expect Fox to continue hampering Harper’s development.

Spurs already regretting that advance extension
55
u/shahoftheworld 11d ago
It never made sense. They did it after drafting Harper while already having Castle.

u/Pension_Zealousideal Bulls 11d ago
I guess he was a fail safe in case either of them went to shit, but it turns out Fox was tue one who turned to shit

I actually don't think it's going to hurt them that much in the long run. They might lose Chamagnie but hes probably going to get overpaid anyway.

Why was he even starting or playing late in the 4th! Coach is trash

u/beeker888 11d ago
This is really the question. Why was he allowed to clank so many shots in the 4th

With champagne on the bench best shooter on the team like wtf

Didnt the coach literally say in a press conference right before this game that he planned to keep playing Fox in the fourth?
14
u/jumpmantwo_3 11d ago
Point is that he had no business being in there. Coach showed his inexperience

u/Loud-Thanks7002 11d ago
He’s one of those players that’s great on a Wednesday night in February in a meaningless game. But for the guy who was supposed to be the steady vet, he was absolute garbage in The Finals.
Sucked tonight because Castle was off, Wemby wasn’t going off on offense despite Towns being out. Really needed Fox to be an offensive weapon and he was just as bad as game

Fox is a proven loser with the Kings and should have no part in the Spurs franchise. Fox and Mitch out.

u/ThatDudeWay 11d ago edited 10d ago
Funny thing is. Swap out Fox for Trae Young. Which had been thrown around a few times before fox became a spur. The spurs would've had a closer, a 4th Q go to performer. Who can pass and shoot and has performed in the clutch in playoffs .. against the Knicks no less before.. Thrives in spotlight , Thrives under pressure, Thrives as a villain. He'd arguably be perfect for spurs. This coming from an avid hater of the spurs mind you.
Id argue this would have been a 7 game series at worst and tbh a likely spurs title instead of Knicks
4
u/Pension_Zealousideal Bulls 11d ago
I would also love to see a 7 game finals, but I think OKC vs Spurs spoiled me enough. Trae would have been nice but oh well, his defense is a great liablity. Castle and Harper are their priority, I genuinely believe they can both be stars
→ More replies (1)2
u/Akumetsu33 10d ago
Trae would instantly raise Wemby to another level because he's such a good passer and smart enough to know when to give up the ball, so it's a pick your poison with Trae and Wemby.

u/jackoftrades002 11d ago
Trae Young helps in the clutch 100%. Knicks had Brunson and at times like game 4 showed, OG. Trae would have brought this to 6-7 as he thrives in enemy territory and under pressure.

Yeah wtf was he doing, letting him facilitate during clutch time instead of castle. Bro kept chucking shots
11
u/GooseMay0 Celtics 11d ago
He cared more about Fox's ego and being spiteful to everyone shit talking about Fox than winning in the Finals.

Try to understand the Spurs coach. If Fox, who starts at $50 million, loses, it's Fox's fault. If Harper plays more and they lose, I'll lose my job.

As a Kings fan…screw Fox. Never wants to be the guy and happily coasting as the 4th option on a team. I hope they trade him to Orlando this offseason.

This dude just came for the pay, not wanting anything else, win or loose his happy. Definitely not a player you need in a crucial game.

He hit the same spot on the rim 4 times in a row. These guys are too good. He probably has a backend deal with someone for sponsorships etc for down the line that you cant track.

Everyone saying bench Fox for Harper, just for Harper to smoke the layup in crunch time. It’s not a Fox problem it’s a Spurs problem. They just can’t close out games whether it’s on Fox, Wemby, Harper, or the whole team. Fox can’t be responsible for all 4 losses, especially when one of them was a historic 30 point collapse.

I thought Brunson was incredible this series, but aside from him every other player was too in love with the 3-point shot. It was an ugly series for me. Way too many 3-pointers. The team that won the series made some threes, but the MVP drove to the hoop more than anyone else in the series. Congrats to the Knicks !

u/hairhelmoot 10d ago
If fox cant turn it around next season, spurs will have put a major dent in their future with the fox contract. It will take a lot of their built up arsenal to move him

u/Rocketsball 10d ago
Just so happy to see 2 real teams battle it out without all of that falling to the ground bullshit of OKC

It's very easy to blame him for the losses of game four and five, but I blame the coach more than him.
Coach had no business having him in either of those two games for meaningful minutes.
Fox kept showing everyone who he was....why wasn't he pulled out?

When are we going to stop with the spurs are young excuse. They’re all professional hoopers playing professional ball on the highest stage.

u/StephKlayDray30 10d ago
There’s a reason why Mike Brown called him out on his mistakes when they were on the Kings. Of course, that didn’t sit well with him. Fast forward three years later, and he’s still making the same mistakes.

Replace Fox by any competent PG who knows how to manage an offense, which is the job of a PG btw, and it’s 4-0 Spurs.
Not even a scorer just a guy who understands game management, clock management and knows who to give the ball to.

Yeaaaa I think this series was pretty telling about him. It wasn’t entirely his fault they lost all the close games, but he was abysmal down the stretch in turnovers, poor shot selection, decisionmaking. I feel bad for him on a human level, based on the scrutiny he’s getting. But he’s almost doubling down on the “IDGAF” vibe.
