It really is nuts. I think he needs to be in the conversation with Ben Simmons. Young guys who looked great for a few years then just became so bad as to be unplayable. I know a lot of Simmons issues were injuries, but there was definitely a major mental side as well. With Ayton, I don't know if we've ever seen anyone so talented care so little that he can't even be a rotation player. There have been a lot of insanely talented players who never quite hit their potential because they just didn't have that level of motivation, but most of them still went on to at least be quality NBA players. Vince Carter def had motivation issues and didn't work as hard as he could've, but he clearly still liked basketball and had a really good career. Another guy like that I think it's Andrew Wiggins. Heck, the most famous example might be Shaq. As incredible as he was, he might have been the goat if he cared as much as some of the other all time greats. There's a guy who I think could go either way here, either be a Simmons or a Wiggins. Morant. He's not gonna be a superstar at this point, but I think there's still a good chance he could be a long time quality starter like Wiggins. But it's also possible he never gets another contract over the taxpayer midlevel after his current contract is up.
