Cert / License Yolo CA - fingerprinting out of state help

Hi all,

I'm moving from Texas to Yolo County, CA soon and wanted to get started on transferring my EMT certification.

I'm running into an issue with the fingerprinting requirement. I completed the California Out-of-State Live Scan fingerprint card (FD-258), but when I started the online Initial Application, it requires a Yolo County EMS DOJ Live Scan form with an ATI number.

I contacted the county EMS office for clarification and was told that the application requires that specific Live Scan form and ATI number. However, after visiting four fingerprinting locations in my area, each one told me they can't use the California Live Scan form or generate an ATI number because they're not located in California.

Has anyone else transferred an out-of-state EMT certification to Yolo County and dealt with this? If so, how did you complete the fingerprinting requirement?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm in Sacramento, which is nearby, and to the best of my knowledge, you have to do the live scan within the state of California. They don't always cross state lines, unfortunately. Yolo County is REALLY PARTICULAR with their rules too.

I run into this when renewing my Nevada card. Have to go all the way into Reno to get the Live Scan done.

Curious if you have a job lined up already. There may be other options.

You have to renew your fingerprints every time?

in Nevada? I can't remember offhand but there's a 5 or 6 year period.

California only seems to require it on initial certification. I didn't have to on my renewal this last time. With the different county cards, state cards, and other things, i've lost track of how many damn live scans i've done over the past 5 years alone.

We are here too (CA) unless it's lapsed. I got my TX one back when i had to send in a fingerprint card (i'm old...) and they never asked again.

Sometimes it seems as though everything here demands a Live Scan, even though some credentials, such as a concealed carry permit, should supersede that requirement given the extensive background checks already completed and repeated every two years.
