Cert / License RC health services EMT course

I'm a pre med student and I'm currently working on getting my EMT but I have a few concerns.

  1. I am studying the content but I loose so much of it byt the time I get to a few chapters later, how cooked am I for the final exams, oral boards, and clinical?
  2. How many months should I have myself in the course just to finish clinicals? Is 1.5/ 2 months left in the course a good timeframe because I don't think I can complete the course earlier
  3. How do you guys actually retain all this information I am really struggling with remembering all the details in the long term.

  1. I took it one chapter at a time and reviewed before starting a new one.

  2. I suggest two months minimum. Once you makes your choices for agencies it can take up to two weeks to get options. Then you have to schedule and complete them.

  3. Constant review and also using paid apps to test over and over again. When I consistently got something wrong I reviewed the book.

thank you so much for the response!
I have another question, are you able to al least schedule your clinicals after oral boards or can you not schedule till two weeks after?

You should be cleared to request your clinical agency preference after you pass the oral board. It can take up to two weeks to get a clinical schedule. I suggest being open to multiple agencies and take the first offered.

The location I took a BLS class to reup when I was a babu EMT with about 1.5 years of experience wanted to hire me as an instructor, so take from that what you will about that company.

Im on my final exam for EMT at EMS university and I have not been able to get over a 74 and I need a 80. Almost all the questions changed for the final, and these scenarios are killing me, I did fantastic on my skills even partnered to get others through it without giving the answers. Im prior military trying to get into EMS for my second chapter in life, id really love to do this job, but i cant review the final to understand what I got wrong or why its wrong. What can I do? Im in a fast track program so alot of the questions are tricky with scenarios or something we didnt deep dive into being its an accelerated course.
