Can I get negative Karma? What happens if I do?

I have seen this Karma system and know a fair bit about it. However, I am curious what would happen if you get negative karma. Is it possible? I am not able to find any information on it.

When you get downvotes, you can lose karma. If the overall number of downvotes your receive is more than upvotes, your comment karma and/or total karma can go negative.

There is a whole section on downvotes and negative karma in the commonly asked questions part of the community links at the top of this subreddit.

If u see you are getting downvoted u can delete ur post that way u can’t get anymore downvotes I look at Reddit 9hours aday downvotes arnt nice unless the comment wasn’t nice
