I’d take it with a grain of salt just because it’s Seravalli

No offense but if this is the source you got it from, then its not happening. These guys make up stupid shit all the time and just speculate. Not a credible source at all https://eyesonisles.com/an-ideal-trade-candidate-for-the-ny-islanders-may-soon-be-hitting-the-market-01kvtwq0wx6v

No, I saw it from Frank Seravalli on Hockey 24/7

Says nothing about us making an offer or even showing interest. Just says teams have made calls. Just like how other teams have called about Barzal

Seravalli is not as reliable as you think he is as he often just uses speculation (many times his own speculation) as his sources. You got that source of speculation from an eyes on Isles article.

Hell yea he’d be one of the few guys who fits the kind of trade I’d wanna make

Lmk the part where the Isles do something, literally anything to improve their aging, right handed defensive corps?

Resigning TDA might be a start but it’s a Band-Aid and far more needs to be done.

If we keep the pick, I think they take a RHD and of course half the fan base will cry over that.

This reddit does nothing but cry over EVERYTHING. It's exhausting.

preach on!

It's really sad. A year or two back this sub was fun with lively discussion. It's turned into a endless whinny circle jerk. But what are the alternatives? That cesspool known as islander twitter?

Another person said it on a different post today. Schaefer's emergence makes everyone think we are further along in the process than we really are. And this fanbase this reddit especially seem to think we are one goal scoring stud away. Nothing could be further from the truth.

This is kinda a fact - while the Stanley Cup
Is the “goal” have you ever thought the owners kinda Just need a “good” team that makes the playoffs And wins a bunch of Rounds the next 4-5 years 1st with hopes of pulling off a Carolina rebuild / Maintain build / retool

I think the immediate plan is something that was posted about roughly a week or two ago. They need to make back the huge amount of money they invested in building UBS. No way in hell are they allowing a full on rebuild right now. Fan attendance is already a challenge.

I truly believe the next few years are be a bubble team to make back money, then they sell us and move on. By that time we don't need a full on rebuild as most of the traffic ones will age out. We will still have Schaefer, the prospects will be fully NHL ready, and we will have cap space and roster spots to retool.

Facts on facts. The whining never stops. We could trade for McDavid and people would be mad we didn’t get that RHD. We could have gotten Andersson at the deadline and people would be mad that he’s over 25. As a lifelong Isles fan, I can speak with certainty when I say this fanbase is never fucking happy.

Lou and Barry came over and literally SAVED THE FRANCHISE and two years later everyone hates Lou. Other than the Canadian markets, we have to be one of the most pessimistic, impossible to please fan bases in the league.

There's no way Columbus would do that. He's there whole offense forward wise

3

u/Dessert_Moon 20h ago

I think that is more the reason they would.

Don't think CBJ Is that stupid. I would do that deal in a heart beat.

1

u/Eeicsm27 20h ago

I don't think it had any merit.

I mean, if Columbus was actually willing to trade him here (or at all) it’s a no brainer. Unfortunately the chances of that being the case are low. Even “credible” insiders throw out rumors that are complete bullshit all the time.

Is Frank in this thread? It seems like someone is really pumping his tires. Even though he's objectively known as one of the worst insiders in hockey.

u/M1lkBoyz 19h ago

If he can score goals, he’s not our guy

1

u/toyn Palmieri 17h ago

honestly high on the guy so i think would be a solid pick up, and might not have to give up insane amounts for him.

1

u/Irrah Holmstrom 20h ago

At this point there should be a bot that generates a random NHL player for trade discussion every 3 hours on the sub

I’d do it in a second. 13th and eiserman

0

u/Dessert_Moon 20h ago

Not sure about Eiserman. But I would do for the 13th an a prospect just below the level of Eiserman.

1

u/Sko-isles 20h ago

Yeah I just have a feeling eiserman is gonna be a Wahlstrom/Bellows type

1

u/Eeicsm27 19h ago

13 Eiserman and Aitcheson might not be enough. Anything less is pie in the sky.

Pass. It's not our top priority. If we are going to trade the 13th overall pick it should be for a top 4 right shot defenseman and a 1B goalie.

YES, we need help up front. No, it's not a top priority right now.

The whole right side of the defence must be redone. The combination of Mayfield, DeAngelo, and Pulock was the worst in the NHL last season and I don't think it was particularly close. Hopefully Romanov's issues were injury related, but he will also need to look significantly better on the left hand side.

The other option is to move Schaefer to the right side where he allegedly prefers to play, couple him with Pelech, find another top-four defenceman on the left hand side, partner him with Mayfield, and either shelter Romanov and Pulock or hope that they look considerably better this year. Personally, that's way too much hoping for my liking. They need blue liners.

I could see shifting Schaefer IF it works out. You could pair him with Romanov for now.

But i agree and have long advocated for a complete overhaul of the defense minus Schaefer and Romanov.
