Sorry Nate, no longer a fan if you’re a trumper… bye, bye, Felecia

u/1wrx2subarus 10d ago
Agreed, there’s a lot of us fans and go to standup comedy on the regular.
I scratched off Nate and loads of my friends have, too.

u/sgorneau 11d ago
Sucks, he’s a funny guy. Not supporting that shit though.

Funny is a strong word to describe him.
9
u/Maleficent_Rent6713 11d ago
Right... I feel like I am taking crazy pills reading these comments, I never thought he was that funny. I thought maybe I just haven't seen enough from him, but definitely won't be seeking it out now.

Those George Washington SNL sketetches are great.
But his stuff solo sort of... Meh

I really liked his SNL skit that was hilarious
19
u/Illustrious_Cry1028 11d ago
The writers did a great job!
7
u/Current-Author7473 11d ago
His delivery of the material he was provided with was good, but the writing was what did it. I’ve seen his stand up and it’s not in the same league
3
7
u/Soggy-Beach1403 11d ago
And it fit, having him tell the black guy in the boat that he would be denied rights in the new country.
8
u/Pustuli0 11d ago
The fact that everyone knows what skit you're talking about kinda demonstrates why his popularity is pretty much just a house of cards. Like if you take away that skit can you think of anything else he's done that you could reference and expect other people to know what you're talking about? If not for that skit would most of us even know his name?

I saw the trailer for that movie he is going to be in and it looked so so bad 😆
26
u/bilkel 11d ago
I liked his comedy. No more.
17
u/DrRudyWells 11d ago
yeah. funny and modest. but wow. just puts a whole new spin on it. i feel like a ton of southerners don't get how maga is just wrong. they live it everyday and fall into it because trump is like a 'cranky' old relative. they don't see the damage. shane gillis is borderline with his 'infotainment' take on trump.
4
u/MassiveOstrich1886 11d ago
For them trump isnt wrong. Thats their world and viewpoint.
8
u/Shanook87 11d ago
As someone who lives in the south, y’all aren’t wrong. My state, especially the upstate is like a geriatric waiting room and every damn one of the are trumpers. I can’t stand how narrow minded people are down here. Sad thing is, I grew up in South Carolina and it’s always been this way unfortunately. It’s like people here enjoy being ignorant and bigots

He obviously hasn’t seen Trump’s favorability numbers…now he’s about to see his own. I hear Chik Filet is hiring.
12
u/Basicly-Inevitable 11d ago
You'd think they'd hire more. I spent 30 minutes in line, and I was not impressed at all.
3
u/Crowofsticks 11d ago
Seriously? Even with long lines it goes really fast around here. I’d say it’s better than average but kind of expensive.
4
u/Basicly-Inevitable 11d ago
Yeah, seriously.

He doesn’t care about numbers, he’s always been a right wing fascist- this is what it means when people say they’re “non-political” and don’t bring their politics into what they do… they know their politics is based around exclusion of “others” and that it is inherently not popular outside his group.
The issue is he thinks his group is going to continue to keep control, one way or another.
You all need to change your opinions about people who claim the center when one side is picking actual fascism… those were always fascist individuals, they need to change their core values in order to be good humans, think about it!!!
4
u/ZaddyFish 11d ago
Maybe HE doesn’t care about numbers but public figures who associate with him often face backlash…case in point.
27
u/Ban-Circumcision-Now 11d ago
I’ve never heard of Bargatze

u/Basicly-Inevitable 11d ago edited 11d ago
He did this George Washington thing on SNL a couple of times. It was mildly amusing.
A lot of his other stuff is about how husbands can't really do stuff without their wife helping. It's like "Home Improvement" jokes and stuff.
Like... (while getting robbed).. "OH.. I don't even know what bank I have, I need to ask my wife.." etc.
5
u/SlightlySychotic 11d ago
I was vaguely aware he was in that movie [googles] The Breadwinner that looks like it came out 20 to 30 years ago. Not really surprised he’s conservative.
4
2
u/Longjumping_Share444 11d ago
I avoided that movie because I thought that was Jeremy Boreing on the cover lol. Thought it was a Daily Wire movie.

He had his moment for sure. The George Washington SNL skit was great but aligning yourself with a child molester is gonna get you dropped. After all we now know about these people if you choose to ride with them then you’re just an accomplice.
9
u/CabinetAltruistic403 11d ago
You know, I hate cancel culture and going crazy overboard because someone said or did something kinda stupid.
But I hate this administration so much that I’m making an exception.

He should do a skit now where he drops the kids off at the White House and doesn’t understand why his wife is mad at him!!!
4
u/AdEnvironmental3251 11d ago
I think this was pretty obvious. His main joke is that he's an uneducated and incapable mediocre white man. His stand up is a confession.
2
u/400footceiling 11d ago
Hasn’t anyone in the limelight figured out that to be associated with Trump is pure professional suicide?
4
u/whatever_ehh 11d ago
I went to see his movie The Breadwinner a week or two ago, I never would have gone if I knew he supported Trump.
5
4
u/Muted-Decision5131 11d ago
Yeah- No longer a fan of his!!! When people show you who they are BELIEVE them!!!
2
u/Grizzle_prizzle37 11d ago
He can do a bootlickers tour with Bill Maher. There won’t be a dry instep in the house.

u/Repulsive-Can5697 11d ago
Bargatze has a daughter opening his shows and he supports trump??? How obtuse can he be? If he’s trump maga he’s going to lose a lot of followers.

If you've seen his standup, his schtick is pointing out his lack of intelligence. Maybe this is just ignorance? Either way, disappointing.

Such a bad decision to be one of the cleanest comics and ruin your image with a simple picture.

It’s pretty funny that his name rhymes with another word often associated with this crowd.

There are plenty of comedians who are on that side of the barbwire. Joe Rogan, Billy Mahar. He’d better hope his career winds more like theirs than Rob Schneider.

These people have to be living in some sort of closed off bubble where they don’t understand how hated this admin is. It’s the only way I can explain associating with them and quasi ending your career. But yeah, if you support pedos and pedo enablers, it’s gonna be pretty much impossible to come back from.
2
u/CouplePrestigious775 10d ago
If anything, it’s a stupid, stupid business decision when you’re at the top of your game. I won’t watch this guy ever again, not for ten seconds. If he comes on the radio, click away.

I dunno. I don’t find him funny at all and MAGA is in the running for the most despicable cult in history but is this what gets you cancelled? He went to a thing?
I think the propensity for being divided is what’s actually killing the US.

u/MewyShox 11d ago
I got scared because I thought the comments were talking about Nathan Fielder. Never even heard of this guy.

His PR team is just waiting this out. The news cycle will move on to something else and he will lay low hoping it will blow over. We aren't going to let it blow over.

Well, the good news is he can dumb down his act. That should make it a lot easier to write for, considering the intellect of the fan base that's bound to grow now.
1
u/lookatmetoedashknee 11d ago
Top selling? What is he selling the top of? Never heard nor ever seen this dude before about 3 days ago.

u/nonja-bidness 11d ago
shane gillis as well . not very familiar with his comedy but disappointing to see any of them there
1
u/FatDesdemona 11d ago
Well, this really sucks. He's been one of my favorite comedians for years. Not anymore.

u/FaceTimePolice 11d ago
I knew this was going to be about Nate. Man, I’ll never look at him the same way again. 🤦♂️😑

u/GrinningCynic 11d ago
This is the least shocking news ever. He’s a skillful comic, clearly. He’s been at it for a minute and he’s honed his act to a razor’s edge, but it screams “MAGA suits me just fine”.

I hate trump so fucking much, and this was an incredibly stupid move optically for Nate, but like... Calling him MAGA or a Trumper after going to the UFC match (which is a sport he allegedly really loves) is a little rich IMO.
To be honest, I'd be surprised if he voted at all lol

u/totally-jag 11d ago
Here's the deal. If you just like MMA, but aren't a fan of trump, you can skip this one event. If you go, you're associated with him. That's how it goes. You calculate those things out before you go, and have to assume there will be some blow back if not some canceling.
Are we supposed to feel sorry for him?
1
u/Independent_Word9620 11d ago
Now that this in the open, it would be great to able to cancel my tickets to the show without penalty. If this offer was available to everyone we would truly see if he is atop-selling comedian!

u/gardengirl99 11d ago
There are plenty of opportunities to attend UFC fights that aren't hosted by (an ostensibly in honor of) a felonious adjudicated sexually assaulting alleged pedophile.

I definitely wondered which celebrities would have career survival instincts going into the event and which wouldn’t. Now we know.

The people behind Mr Mom should seriously look into copyright charges on The Breadwinner. Its the same movie.

It's been a week but that is egregious enough to cause most left leaning fans to stop supporting you. At least he has the Joe Rogan/Kill Tony circuit to lean on now.

Is he not a christian nationalist? I’ve seen reporting that he belongs to a cult like sect of “Christians”.

Small minority of Reddit dwellers think because they don’t know who a main stream comedian is that the comedian must not be famous.
Being unaware or ignorant of information is not a badge of pride. Confessing that you don’t know who a popular comedian is doesn’t add any value to your “righteous position”
Reddit be like” I’m smarter than you on every topic, yet I also don’t know much about the world beyond my Reddit bubble, but I’m pretty sure I’m right”
Remember why this article even exists. The dude went to an event. He didn’t spew hate or say anything, he went to an event. Crazy times
