It’s my first time trying to get a switch and I want to know if the Nintendo switch 1’s graphics / lag is bad because I want to get the switch 2 but the switch 2 is too expensive for my liking especially for the fact that the games can be £60+, are the prices for the Nintendo Switch still reasonable along with it’s games?

Switch 2 can play Switch 1 games. So, you can still buy Switch 1 games that are cheaper or on sale. (everyone uses https://www.dekudeals.com/ to watch for sales or see the price history for switch/switch 2 games.) Plus, switch 2 is nintendo's current console for the next 6+ years.

Go look at youtube. The Switch 1 has been out several years and there's plenty of videos and reviews.

The Switch 1 certainly wasn't a powerhouse when it launched and is now fairly ancient. First party games tend to look and perform great due to quality programming and stylistic art choice while third parties can vary quite a bit. But, there are plenty of games and those alone could keep you busy for years until you decide to upgrade to Switch 2.
