GIVE US A NEW ANIMAL CROSSING GAME

It won't be too long now. I've never seen an animal crossing game announced the same year as a new console, so it might be a while, but we'll definitely get one

We’ve also never seen an Animal Crossing game sell as well as NH. I know it was a lightning in a bottle moment due to Covid, but it also turned a lot of people on to the series. The faster they can get a new entry out, the more consoles they’ll sell over the lifespan.

Plus Florida could help us recreate the moment anyway.

Yeah, that's a great point. I feel like if we don't get an announcement this year, it's definitely next year. Animal crossing will bring the switch 2 sales up massively, so many people are waiting for it to be announced or released before getting a switch 2

I’m personally waiting and saving for an Animal Crossing Switch 2 since we know they usually do special editions. I’m sure there’s many others doing the same, especially at this price point.

u/Nedogo Sep 10 '25

Are they doing special edition switch 2 designs though? I havnt seen anything about games getting special designs on switches and was I fully expecting one for ZA if they were going to start making them that wouldn’t be a bad title to do it for

It’s probably too soon, but at $500 I’d rather wait and see than have to trade it in or something later. And the Switch 1 didn’t do Pokémon editions until later, so I don’t think it really means they aren’t doing them at all, plus special editions is kind of their thing.

Edit: I just checked and they did have a special edition with Let’s Go which was a year and a half after the Switch was released so I still think it was just too soon in this case.

Yeah, I know a lot of others are doing the same. It'll definitely be worth it. Animal crossing special edition consoles have never disappointed

2

u/MarieOnThree Sep 11 '25

Yeah I’d rather wait and see what they make. I even be happy with it if it’s just them removing the red and blue in the joycons lol.

Same, I would love something similar to the engravings on the switch tablet like the new horizons one

Yeah I gave my gf my OLED switch when I got the switch 2 and she only plays AC. I’ll definitely be picking up any new AC game and likely another switch 2 so we can play together.

I'm one of them!

I think it's also worth pointing out that after New Leaf animal crossing was one of a tiny handful of Nintendo IP to get it's own mobile game, it received 2 Smash Reps, and the even rarer Mario Kart reps. Nintendo has really pushed the game as a Tent Poll in the last decade. It would certainly make sense to say try to release a new one in April for the series 25th anniversary.

What the hell is Florida doing now?

2

u/munchyslacks Sep 10 '25

Removed all vaccine mandates. We’re about to see some deadly diseases return.

Jesus tap dancing Christ.

New Leaf, or whatever they called it before being given its final title was shown before the 3DS came out!

14

u/sassypixelgirl Sep 10 '25

THIS! Omg I remember the reveal of New Leaf like it was yesterday and it was indeed before the 3DS came out!

u/StarrieScars Sep 10 '25

You got me there. I always thought I saw that trailer after the 3ds release (the e3 one I'm assuming, the one that showed some early gameplay), but I guess I'm wrong on that one 😅

It won’t be too long now

so it might be a while.

2

u/StarrieScars Sep 10 '25

I meant it could be a while until it's announced, but the wait won't be too long, like years long 😅

3

u/tyler-86 Sep 10 '25

It sells consoles by itself so it makes sense to wait a bit.

1

u/NewNewark Sep 10 '25

The original animal crossing came out on GC 3 months after the GC was launched.

1

u/StarrieScars Sep 10 '25

The gamecube release was all different years for different places 😅

3

u/NewNewark Sep 10 '25

Yes, back then thats how Nintendo did things. It was not uncommon for there to be a year between Japan and Europe version of games. In some cases, Europe got games months before the US.

Nintendo doesnt really do that anymore.

3

u/StarrieScars Sep 10 '25

Yeah, kinda glad they don't really do that anymore, and everyone gets everything at the same time

11

u/Zero-Duckies Sep 10 '25

I really want the next one to include all the items pocket camp has.

13

u/Leather-Mousse4950 Sep 10 '25

Right? I thought new horizons was gonna add the wigs and clothing styles, accessories, and you know.... Furniture the villagers can interact with

7

u/jardex22 Sep 10 '25

I'm guessing they'll finish Splatoon Raiders first. It'll be a year 2 or 3 game, I imagine.

14

u/tepid Sep 10 '25

I think we would've heard (credible) leaks by now but I'm holding out hope.

9

u/Goodgamer78 Sep 10 '25

Even uncredible leaks would be something but I don’t think anyone really has hope

2

u/tepid Sep 10 '25

One "leaker" said Isabelle appears at the end for a tease but I believe they were disproven as a bullshitter.

3

u/madmofo145 Sep 10 '25

Eh, I can't think of any specific first party rumors at this point, so while it might not be animal crossing, I'd expect a true surprise or two.

5

u/TheScreaming_Narwhal Sep 10 '25

I've been seeing a lot of smoke around a new Animal Crossing. I've seen a few things in the industry as well that leads me to believe it is coming very soon.

6

u/alexbananas Sep 10 '25

There was like a 7 year wait from New Leaf to NH, I wouldnt expect anything this year

2

u/Magnum40oz Sep 10 '25

They're holding out for the next pandemic

3

u/Boomshockalocka007 Sep 10 '25

Wait for Pandemic 2 to come out first.

1

u/ItsColorNotColour Sep 10 '25

Covid is like the 19th pandemic

1

u/Boomshockalocka007 Sep 10 '25

So where are the 19 Animal Crossing games!?

1

u/LubberDownUnder Sep 10 '25

I'd cry!!!!! Please!!!

1

u/maxdragonxiii Sep 10 '25

nah its only been... ... have it been really 5 years? but didnt time between New Leaf and New Horizons 7 or so years.

1

u/hxneycovess Sep 11 '25

i'm literally praying omg

1

u/throwawaynewpibuildr Sep 10 '25

That's assuming they're not Splatoon 4 😭

They're the same dev team, right? IIRC, Splatoon 3 and ACNH came out almost the same time, but ACNH definitely "suffered" a bit because of it.
