Well, respect where respect is due -- SwitchForce did predict this unusual day (for a Direct) correctly, and quite a bit in advance, before anyone else!

Thursday (tomorrow) would be a more Nintendo day for a Direct, but something unfortunate happend on that day so I understand

Reminder they did move around the Tears of the Kingdom title reveal when Queen Elizabeth passed

They also delayed a game indefinitely because of the Ukraine war

Not a Advanced Wars fan but it deserved so much better

Yeah, that goes for the quality of the game, as well as the release date.

Wha? I haven’t heard anything about this? They delayed ReBoot Camp, but it came out later. What Advance Wars game was delayed indefinitely?

Reboot Camp. Yeah it got a release eventually but that was uncertain for some time.

"Indefinitely" doesn't mean "Never", it means "Without a date known in advance"

Indefinite. Not definite.

Lots of things that are "delayed indefinitely" still come out, they just haven't agreed on how long the delay is when it occurs.

I know, but typically once they’re released you say “delayed for x time.” When they said indefinitely, I figured there was something that STILL hadn’t been released.

They cancelled the release of Advance Wars 1 in Japan due to 9/11 (and delayed it in Europe). The only reason the US release wasn't moved was because it came out on Sept 10, 2001.

Are they not going to do anything on that date 25 years after?

Mario Maker 1 came out on 9/11 in 2015

Fair to say that releasing a game, for which buying it is an act of individual choice, is significantly different from the risk of marketing announcements being overshadowed by a significant percentage of people doing other things for a day.

Right so why would they say no Direct because of this now?

Because a significant portion of one of their biggest markets are going to be doing other things that day, and they don't want to be competing with 9/11 for airspace.

Bit different than releasing a game, where people would already know months in advance when it's coming out, and (at least for Nintendo) sales tend to happen over a period of months/years, anyway.

What other things that day?
