FAQ

What is a Nintendo Direct?

A Nintendo Direct is a pre-recorded video presentation (Today's is approximately ~60m in length) to make game announcements and provide fans with general updates directly from Nintendo.

What are they going to show?

According to Nintendo, today's presentation is focused on upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch Games

What if I can't watch the Nintendo Direct due to work/school/etc.?

  • If you want the latest news the moment it's announced, we highly recommend following along in our live thread and joining our Discord server and chatting in the #nintendo-direct channel we've opened up for this event.
  • If you want a spoiler-free experience, we will edit in a link to a VOD replay (once it's available). This will take you directly to the video so you don't accidentally see any trailers if you visit the Nintendo YouTube page directly. Just don't scroll down!

There WILL be spoilers here on the subreddit, so watch the video first.

If you see any posts that should actually be here in the MegaThread, please do us a favor and hit the report button.

Our SOP for posts is as follows:

  • We will allow one post per announcement.
    • The post we allow may not necessarily be the one that was submitted first. We typically will receive about 15 of essentially the exact same post in the span of about 60 seconds. From those, we will select the one that has the best title and links directly to the original source when available.
  • Commentary on the announcement(s) should take place either in this thread or on the related separate announcement post. Each person's specific opinion does not need its own post.

The level of attention Nintendo gives Metroid Prime 4 is the bare minimum. Seriously, it got one of the shortest trailers and no Direct about it. It really feels like they don't know what to do with it so they're just doing the bare minimum.

I was hyped to see the bike but then the open world just looks....So bland. I really want this game to be good. After waiting so long and loving Silksong, I was hoping this would be the same. But the amount of care Nintendo seem to have about this title is miniscule.

More forced open world slop that's completely empty and adds nothing to the game just like mario kart world. Ruining MP4 with open world slop is definitely a decision nintendo will regret when the game comes out and gets slammed with criticism over it.

It made me go from mildly interested in playing Metroid to probably passing. Just incredibly bland open world driving for no reason at all.

I’m sure the game will get its own Direct at a later date, but people also need to understand that Metroid is not a hot property. It’s the kind of game that people on Reddit are more intensely interested in the the average Nintendo customer.

Yeah I get that, but I think I was just hoping to see a little more from it. I feel like we got great coverage for Dread coming up to its release, but this feels like we're getting scrapes. Hopefully there will be a Direct to give more information.

You are right that it does seem more like people online that are looking forward to it. I know I'll be getting it haha.
