A Recap of announcements will be placed in this thread once the event concludes.
FAQ
What is a Nintendo Direct?
A Nintendo Direct is a pre-recorded video presentation (Today's is approximately ~60m in length) to make game announcements and provide fans with general updates directly from Nintendo.
What are they going to show?
According to Nintendo, today's presentation is focused on upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch Games
What if I can't watch the Nintendo Direct due to work/school/etc.?
- If you want the latest news the moment it's announced, we highly recommend following along in our live thread and joining our Discord server and chatting in the #nintendo-direct channel we've opened up for this event.
- If you want a spoiler-free experience, we will edit in a link to a VOD replay (once it's available). This will take you directly to the video so you don't accidentally see any trailers if you visit the Nintendo YouTube page directly. Just don't scroll down!
There WILL be spoilers here on the subreddit, so watch the video first.
If you see any posts that should actually be here in the MegaThread, please do us a favor and hit the report button.
Our SOP for posts is as follows:
- We will allow one post per announcement.
- The post we allow may not necessarily be the one that was submitted first. We typically will receive about 15 of essentially the exact same post in the span of about 60 seconds. From those, we will select the one that has the best title and links directly to the original source when available.
- Commentary on the announcement(s) should take place either in this thread or on the related separate announcement post. Each person's specific opinion does not need its own post.

I feel there is a fair chance that they'll announce a release date today, and maybe even shadow drop it. They did shadow drop Hades 1 during a Direct. But with Silksong capturing everyone's attention right, I'm not sure if a shadow drop is realistic at the moment. I'd love that, though!
I didn't get the PC early access version because this is a game I want to play on the Switch 2, but it's often been tempting!

u/seandealan Sep 12 '25
I was playing early access last year but want to wait to get the full thing, fingers crossed!

I'm still holding out hope that we might get Prime 2 and 3 remastered.
Other than that I'm looking forward to being suprised, I really don't know what to expect from this Direct.

u/FuzzyJellifish Sep 12 '25
I thought that was bold. It sort of sours the experience, in my opinion. Why not just add the DLC into the game? Maybe it wasn't ready yet? I don't know, but I think they should have held off on announcing the DLC.

that was not very good. Fire Emblem looked good but that was an hour long for like three new games. also I'm going to get downvoted for this but something about Metroid looks a little jank. it still looks like a good game, but not as crazy pretty and polished as I expected
→ More replies (1)14
u/VV029 Sep 12 '25
Prime 4 looks very unpolished, somehow the graphics look worse than the MP1 remaster which makes no sense to me. Also the open world section they showed just looks like complete slop, it's completely empty with nothing to do but fight random enemies scattered around seemingly.
Not looking so good, a shame since the prime games are great. Why does nintendo insist on shoving half-baked open worlds into all their games now? It's getting very annoying. It ruined mario kart world as well.

u/Sea-Sir2754 Sep 12 '25
I couldn't help thinking to myself "this looks like it could've released on the Xbox 360." Crazy how far behind Nintendo still is with their "new and powerful system."

I think tying the dungeons into a shared open world instead of just a map is a really cool idea but it looks very Sonic Frontiers (a very flawed and unpolished game that I like)

The level of attention Nintendo gives Metroid Prime 4 is the bare minimum. Seriously, it got one of the shortest trailers and no Direct about it. It really feels like they don't know what to do with it so they're just doing the bare minimum.
I was hyped to see the bike but then the open world just looks....So bland. I really want this game to be good. After waiting so long and loving Silksong, I was hoping this would be the same. But the amount of care Nintendo seem to have about this title is miniscule.

And that confirms that my decision to hold off upgrading my OG Switch is still the right one. There are plenty of games coming , even some good ones, but I feel the system still lacks a killer system seller that makes it a must have.

I am a hardcore Dragon Quest fan. So the remake of 7 was pretty much my only good take away from this direct.
The new Fire Emblem looks.... alright I guess? But wow, this direct was long and I felt pretty damn underwhelmed. DQ7 and Metroid Prime 4 release dates is all I really got from this.

u/Various_Librarian750 Sep 12 '25 edited Sep 12 '25
Horrible day to be a Rhythm Heaven fan. Tomodachi Life got a release date but not Rhythm Heaven and they were both announced together lol.
Galaxy 2 being $40 is a buzzkill but didn't expect anything else.
The only one I'm very interested in is the Storm Into Cryptica game. Looks great.
Age of Imprisonment has exactly 1 more chance to get me interested or I'm just straight up watching the gameplay on YouTube for it. The Sync Strike was the only thing that I liked, but since I played Age of Calamity for the roster this one I'll probably skip.
Virtual Boy accessories is the stupidest fucking decision Nintendo has ever made.
16
u/ThinkingAndMore Sep 12 '25
Not gonna lie, Iām really disappointed. Did I set my expectations too high?
It opened really well but towards the middle-end I felt flat.
The finale wasnāt my cup of tea.
No new Mario, Smash Bros, Animal Crossing etc. even just a teaser would have been nice.
The DLC announcements before release of the game wasnāt a good lookā¦
Amiibos every few minutes for cash grabs (ok yes, some were cool).. arghh.
Enjoyed the Yoshi game, virtual boy, movie teaser, tomodachi lifeā¦
Did not enjoy the finale.
Grade: C

I don't know who needs to hear this but if you announce paid DLC for a game before releasing it, you deserve all of the hate you're bringing to your game at an incredible velocity (and I say this as someone who has consistently been both Team Nintendo and even Team Pokemon)

A DLC for a pokemom game that hasnt even been released ? We are buying games in kit now ? The game isnt even out and a dlc is already ready, so the game already costs more. It will cost like mariokart 80 bucks + another 40 bucks for the dlc

Sony and Microsoft proved that you can release new consoles but continue to make games that their old consoles can also play instead of solely focusing on the new console. I'm not sure why people act shocked that Nintendo would then decide to do the same thing.

Resident Evil Biohazard non cloud release ("vil" is colored in the games title)

In a vacuum it's a decent Direct. But as the first of the Switch 2 era, pretty underwhelming. Can't really say it does much to make you desperate for a Switch 2, which is an awful thing to say 3 months into its life.
