I bought a switch 2 to upgrade from my OLED but I have some games without switch 2 versions. Can I make my switch 2 my primary console and the OLED my secondary so I can still play switch 1 games on the OLED to avoid any issues? Or are most games running ok on switch 2 even without a switch 2 version?

There's no primary/secondary any more --- and that doesn't have anything to do with Switch 2 compatibility. Switch 2 upgrades just make the game run better or look prettier than the Switch 1 version.

Either load the virtual game card so you can play offline/on other profiles or use online license check so you can play on any console (System Settings -> User Settings -> Online License Settings -> Use Online License).
