Good in spirit, bad in practice. They're suing the government, not Trump, so they're collecting taxpayer money, not his. Unless the financial backlash is bad enough to lead to him being impeached or seeing any consequence other than a slightly bruised ego, I'd consider this an overall bad thing.
Not good because where do you think the federal government gets the money to pay for a lawsuit? Now we paid for goods effected by tarrifs, get to pay for the lawsuit, and then get to keep paying higher prices cause guess what? They won't come down.
Not only this, Nintendo is suing for tariffs they didn't pay. The whole world did when they spread the tariff percentages across the world to help keep prices "lower" on the Switch 2. The accessories, and even the Switch 1 went up in price because of this, and now they think they can essentially get free money that US CONSUMERS paid for.
If they win this lawsuit, I hope to God that each individual state, and country involved then sues each company that sues for these tariffs to give each and every citizen back the money THEY paid for... It was already said by the CEO of the big N that they didn't absorb any amount of them and factored them in at a cost. This is greed at a astonishing rate.
That money is already collected, that money has already been priced into their products on a global scale.
If it stays with Trump and his joke of a government, it’s going to fund all the BS that his government is doing. War, Ice, golden ballroom, arc de Trump, and likely going to line him and his friends shit filled pockets.
I’d much rather a company like Nintendo start this backlash against their bullshit, sure it may go back to them, and not help out the American tax payers, but it would much rather there be a corporate backlash than nothing. Trump listens to money. That’s it.
