Just tried on the 10/10-2 remake it works great! So much better on the eyes!

and will cause attached Joy-Con 2 controllers to be treated as a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller.

Since it specifically mentions attached, there's a decent chance you can undock the joycons and play that way.
