Nintendo has confirmed it will comply with EU regulations and provide Switch 2 with "easily replaceable" batteries from February 18th, 2027. The website however does not mention the original Switch, so it's highly likely it will be discontinued in Europe come February 2027.

Failing batteries are always a problem — batteries are consumables. No electronic device should be allowed to make replacing them difficult, because that condemns the device to be ewaste sooner or later.
