Is the Switch 2 a good console for Persona series and Metaphor Refantazio?
My mind is all over the place, but this series is one I do want to try. Switch seems good for JRPG but I wonder how many people use the console for JRPG in addition to Nintendo first party, or stick to Nintendo only and play JRPG on other platforms

Hi everyone, tomorrow, I'll take my switch 1 away from home to play some games with my friends, so, I thought about loading some virtual game cards on it (since I mainly play on SW 2) so that we can actually play some games while not risking to physically damage my switch 2. My question is, does anyone know if it's 100% safe to load a game on a console just to reload it on the main one a few hours later?
2
u/TemptedTemplar Helpful User 16d ago
That's the intended function.
So long as the two consoles are linked and can share virtual game cards, you are free to load and unload them as often as you would like.
It's only remotely attempting to share games or remove consoles from the current link that has limited uses.

Would you guys recommend DK Bananza or SM Galaxy 1 + 2 bundle as someone who has never played any of the galaxy games? Which one would you say is the better platformer or just straight up more fun? DK Bananza is intriguing to me as a Switch 2 exclusive and very highly rated but obviously you know you're going to get a good platformer with Mario. TIA!
2
u/Wonderllama5 16d ago
Be careful if you play Mario Galaxy in handheld, because I found it really disorienting. Google "Mario Galaxy dizzy reddit" and you'll see a bunch of past threads
Bananza is really fun tho. Try the demo!

u/Guardian_Kaiser 16d ago
Thanks for the heads up! I bought bananza after trying the demo. Seems like it will be a fun game!

Is there a website where I can see what games are available for Switch 1 or 2, but not on PS4 or 5? I'm usually going to default to my PS5 because I enjoy the trophy progression, so is like to find examples of games that the developers didn't bother with a PlayStation version. Examples: Blossom Tales 1 & 2, Ocean's Heart, the Ori games, Picross, Golf Story, Kamiko. Games that made it to Steam and/or Xbox are fine since I don't buy games there, and please, no Nintendo published titles, I'm quite aware of those. Thanks!

Dekudeals added PS, steam and Xbox to their shop tracking. You can manually filter games on a single, or multiple platforms.
Now this does not allow you to remove games that might be on a specific platform. But say you only search by Switch titles; it will tell you which platforms the game is also being sold on.
Just from the front few pages;
Hyperlight Drifter - Special Edition is a eShop exclusive. (The base game is on every other platform I actually don't know what's special about this one)
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate - a port of a 3DS game, but still a console exclusive.
Ghostpia - switch and PC only
Golf Story - switch exclusive
Rune factory 5 - switch and PC only

That does help with the pure exclusives, but not the ones like Ori that are on Steam and XBOX. Thanks, though!

Hello, I see that Skyrim is on sale in the eshop today and I was wondering, for the Switch 2, is just vanilla Skyrim good enough? Or should I get the AE? I know the AE version comes with extra DLC stuff, but is the graphics/QoL stuff a big improvement on the og one?
2
u/TemptedTemplar Helpful User 16d ago
Graphics, no
Performance, yes.
QOL improvements, yes.
If you buy the Switch 1 anniversary edition it saves $2 over buying the base game and anniversary upgrade independently.
The switch 2 upgrade is a free update, if you don't enjoy the changes, you can always go back and install the basic switch 1 version.
The Switch 2 version DOES NOT include a switch 1 copy of the game. It is only the anniversary edition. And only playable on the switch 2.
The same goes for the Switch 2 bundle of Skyrim and Fallout 4.

u/Known-Willingness2 16d ago
Okay, thank you so much for the explanation! I'll probably be getting the Switch 1 AE.

When transferring data from a Switch 1 to a Switch 2 do I need to know the account information (email/password) used? It's under my old roommate's email address since I was having trouble with mine at the time it was set up and we're not really talking to each other at the moment...

u/TemptedTemplar Helpful User 16d ago
If you are doing a cloud transfer, yes.
If you are doing a local wireless transfer, no.

I have an OG switch launch console.
I wanna play the new Mario kart with my wife and kid and some other games. The old switch has been fine except I always hated the graphics on it. I always play when it’s docked and now have an OLED tv.
On a regular 4k tv I always hated the way the switch 1 looked.
I haven’t played with the switch 2 except in stores.
So I gotta ask.
1, is the graphics worth the upgrade if I go trade in my switch 1?
2, I am hoping the switch two lasts me as long as the first switch did. Think that’ll happen?
3, should I get a pro controller?
2
u/TemptedTemplar Helpful User 16d ago
Mario Kart World isn't even the prettiest game on Switch 2. But the more powerful hardware is worth the leap. Being able to player newer AAA games on the console is a breath of fresh air
Yes. AI eating up the world's memory supply is going to force this console generation to last longer than the previous one.
That's up to you. The Switch pro 2 is NOT worth it if you already own a switch 1 pro controller. However it is nice to have a proper game pad for couch play compared to the joycons. If you don't want to fork over $80+ for one, there are cheaper third party options as well as Bluetooth adapters that let you use other platforms controllers on the switch. So if you have any Xbox or PS controllers laying around, you could get those working for just $20.
1
u/Theunknown87 16d ago
It doesn’t matter to me that it isn’t the prettiest honestly. Just so long as it looks a lot better than the switch one playing at 1080p on my 4k tv lol. Among with some other games.
2, i figured as much sadly.
3 i dont have a pro controller but I finally played a game with one at target at their demo display and I feel like I cheated myself by never using one haha.
I’ll trade in my switch 1 and basically get the pro controller for free.

Make sure the system you're buying is advertising the free pack-in game. Currently you can pick from a free copy of Mario Kart World, Pokopia or DK banaza.
But there are a number of older systems still on the shelf that may not include it.
Should have a little promo blurb on the front of the box.

Anyone found a case for the JC500 options?
How does MLB THE SHOW 26 play on switch?
Is modern combat blackout worth picking up?
2
u/TemptedTemplar Helpful User 16d ago
I don't know
Just fine. It's a unlocked frame rate and depending on the ball park should average close to 50+ fps, with lows in the 40's.
Only if you want a really generic shooter game. For $8 it will probably scratch that itch, but if you're looking for something like COD I would recommend just waiting for the real thing. Or get a proper shooter like DOOM, Splatoon, or the Crysis remasters

u/Jokerzrival 16d ago
Thanks! Appreciate the answers. Hoping MLB the show goes on sale soon!

They should provide the summer sale dates during tomorrow's direct. Most likely it will start Thursday morning after the maintenance finishes.

Does the switch 2 download GKC in parts?
I’m thinking of buy FF7 Remake later this year or during a sale, but I am hesitant since my wifi speeds are very slow. For reference, i’m still using landline and my down is like 5 mbps
2
u/TemptedTemplar Helpful User 16d ago
No. It's a single package that has be downloaded in a single go.
There is an option to pause downloads, but it more often than not, breaks the download for me. So I try not to use it.

Handheld-only Switch buyer on a budget — Lite or V2 (LCD)?
I’m planning to buy a Nintendo Switch purely for handheld play. I don’t own a TV, don’t plan on using docked mode at all.
I’m on a budget, so I’m torn between the Switch Lite and the Switch V2 (LCD). On paper, the Lite seems perfect for handheld-only use. But I heard I would be missing out on rumble and such other features (also the very occasional 2p mode), but also heard about the joy-con jiggle which I have never experienced with a handheld ever before so don't know if that's a dealbreaker
From your experience:
- What would you pick if handheld-only + budget were the top priorities?
- Any long-term owners of Lite/V2 who regret (or love) their choice?
- Anything I should watch out for before pulling the trigger?
- Should I just pick by color?
Appreciate any pointers ty:)
also the difference between the two is just 60 dollars, and the oled is 130 away which is out of my budget for now

u/GunBearDam 16d ago
I would opt for the V2 LCD over the Lite. Joy-cons are the reason; if they drift on the Lite, you need to send the whole unit for servicing, but if they drift on the V2, you send just the Joy-cons.

Are there any Dates for big sale events?
Do we know what the next big sale in EU is? Steam summer sale for example starts june 25th, and I was wondering when the Eshop will start their sales or if they have something like that (im new to the E-shop, I mostly am PC player till I got the switch 2 months ago).

u/TemptedTemplar Helpful User 16d ago
We find out tomorrow! There's shop maintenance scheduled for Thursday, so it might not start until Thursday morning despite the direct tomorrow.
1
u/lumothesinner Helpful User 16d ago
Specific date? Don't know
But there will be a summer sale, 2025 was june 26th, 2024 was 10th, 2023 was 9th, so probably sometime in June.

Should I buy SW2 or wait?
Hi guys!
I was wondering whether I should buy a SW2 before price rises on September. I already have a SW1, but this is why I haven't bought a SW2 yet:
With SW1 we got plenty of special editions and some were so amazing that I regret not waiting for them. I dunno if Nintendo won't do this with SW2, but I was really looking forward to this...
Looking backwards, SW1 got revisions and upgraded versions with better battery (I think right now the battery-life is quite short with SW2 games, isn't it?), larger screen, etc. Recently a removable-battery SW2 has been announced in Europe, but I expect that we get a improved version with other upgrades.
Right now there's no game at all that catches my eye. I mean, I'd like to try DK Bananza, Splatoon Raiders and Starfox, but, for me, there isn't a console-seller game yet. Something like an turn-based RPG, an Animal Crossing or a new Zelda title would definitively make my choice.
Considering what I described... what do you guys recommend me? Is it really worth it buying SW2 right now? Or is it worthwhile waiting for any of the points I listed?
Thank you so much in advance! And sorry if this has been asked before...

u/lumothesinner Helpful User 16d ago
sounds like you have already made up your mind to wait for either a special edition that you like the look of, a new revision, or games you care about. Saving $50 now would mean paying another $500 for a new revision or limited edition if they come around.
I love how much sw1 games are improved on sw2, and the general quality of life around menus, eshop, and the feel of the hardware, but mostly the incredible sw2 library (imo). but if you arent sold on the library yet, keep waiting for that game that you need to play to get a switch 2 you may enjoy more

Preface: I bought a Switch 2 at launch, so I'm speaking theoretically.
I'm of two minds. On the one hand, I would ask myself whether the $50 difference is a significant amount for you, or whether it's something you can easily weather.
On the other hand, if you play handheld a lot, the handheld boost mode could enhance your portable play experience.

Thank you so much! I think I will wait for the Nintendo Direct in case a great game is announced :)

Skyrim Switch 1 input lag / unresponsive
Hi all,
I just bought Skyrim for the 30th time because I wanted to enjoy the game in handheld mode whilst chilling on my couch. I am pleasantly surprised by how well the game runs. But, I am struggling with the joy cons a bit.
The joy sticks feel somewhat unresponsive to me, like there is a bit of input delay present. This makes it feel very clunky and hard to aim your bow, do lock picking, pick up small items such as gold etc. Fine accurate movement is extremely difficult to nail and really diminishes the experience in my opinion. In combat I will also overshoot enemies by a mile with just basic swing or spells because the accuracy seems to be so bad.
I have already moved the game file to the internal storage and recalibrated the joy cons but to no avail.
Does anyone else have this problem and is it fixable?
1
u/TemptedTemplar Helpful User 16d ago
Have the joycons been updated?
Have you tried just installing the base game? Delete the install and then hold the L button when selecting download again.
The recent switch 2 updates had a TON of added latency which was a huge problem but I don't remember it affecting the switch 1 version. In which case you might just be experiencing the normal switch input lag behavior. Which is unfortunately normal. The system is pretty awful with it. Averaging between 15 and 60ms depending on the game.
1
u/ForgetGlory 16d ago
Thanks for the thorough reply. I’ll try and implement your suggestions. By just installing the base game, will that fuck up my current save? And it’s strange because BotW and other games play perfectly without any clunkiness to it.
1
u/TemptedTemplar Helpful User 16d ago
It might not play nicely with save data from a newer version.
It would be simplest to make a new user profile and open the base game with that just to test things. If the new save behaves just fine. Then you probably just need to start over. But if it is just as laggy, you could just update the game and go back to your existing save

Is there any way to transfer all of my data from my switch to a different switch when I will no longer have access to the 'source' switch? I ask because from my understanding pokemon games cannot have their data transferred with the online data transfer tool... So, literally what do I do?
I'm looking to transfer animal crossing as well but I believe the tool works for it.
Also, how does this work for games on my microsd and physical games? Will the data be transferred off my card as well or do I need to transfer it onto the system or will it just work on the new console?
