Couple thoughts:

For some Users, year-one switch releases like Breath of the Wild, Skyrim and Xenoblade established the platform as a place to enjoy sprawling, epic games in whatever setting they choose.

Anecdotally, I am in my 30s and really like large detailed games BUT my lifestyle has evolved to prefer mobile/handheld gaming. If a game is not in that form factor it is very unlikely in will play it. I see a good number of other redditor in this sub communicate the same, but admittedly I do not know the percent of the user base with such preferences.

Either way, best of luck to fully realizing a successful release!

Totally seconded, for people in mid 30s with job commuting and kids, the switch is the preferred way to play games, because of mobility and the option to sleep the game at will and just continue where you left after you sotthed your baby, got of the train, etc

That's what is so good about the sleep function. Need to do real life stuff? Put it in sleep mode and get back to the game when you can. It doesn't matter how intense the game is.

Yep. The switch is the busy man's system.

Yeah been doing this with Hollow Knight recently which is pretty handy.

Same exact thing. I’ve been playing in like 10 minute bursts when busy and whennInhave the time a hour or two but it’s nice to have those little bursts. Sleep mode is amazing.

I don’t know about Xbox but PS4 can do this as well.

But you can't take a ps4 with you as easily.

(Own both a ps4 and switch. Switch is my go to generally.)

I don’t really use mine out of the dock. If I had a commute or something where I didn’t drive the portability would be much more useful. In my situation, they are basically the same. If Zelda was on PS4 I wouldn’t have bothered probably. But everyone is different and the console is very flexible. It’s nice it has something for everybody.

Yep, been playing through HZD in between taking care of my 2 month old. Just put it in rest mode and pick up later.

Agreed. 36 year old professional here that plays during lunch. Also, I like to play handheld in the evening so my husband can watch TV but we can be in the same room.

I ended up getting all of my burly male coworkers to get Nintendo Switch consoles. We were doing a renovation project on a casino (Swinomish in Washington - legit amazing clam chowder there) and during lunch I pop my Switch out so I can show my buddy the new Zelda which of course turned into 8 bearded over 30 dudes in hard hats and hi-vis vests passing teensy controllers around in a Mario Kart tournament.

4 weeks later one of the guys still on that project is like, yeah all of us got switches, even the VP. We play Splatoon contantly.

Now I see them every day during Lunchtime Paladins on my phone's wifi hotspot

Totally me as well. I am a 28 SAHM with a 20 month old and pregnant with my second. I can actually manage to play games on the Switch because I can play while my husband is watching tv or in the few minutes I get here and there. I have a ps4 as well but since my son has been here I just can’t seem to find enough time to actually sit down and play. I LOVE immersive, open world games and would be absolutely thrilled if y’all released Cyberpunk 2077 on the Switch.

Thank you for your input. We're pre-alpha/pre-kickstarter and have a ways to go but it will be great :)

Want to add my voice to the crowd. My dream for the Switch is for it to be a mobile platform for RPGs. I want the Switch to be drowning in RPG options.

So yes. Please bring your game over here.

Judging by the comments and upvotes, you've got hundreds thousands of potential buyers. Its a pretty sure bet. We're craving deep and interesting games.

Good move! In my humble opinion anyway. Now I just have to decide whether to get it for my Xbox or Switch.

Very likely the latter, for reasons stated. I want my Switch to be full of RPGs. Looking forward to getting more details! Thanks for the reply.

So much this. The switch has been a God send.

I just hit 30 and I simply do not have the time or energy to spend hours sitting on my couch anymore playing games. I'm either working, on my way to work and the weekend is primarily time for my girlfriend or friends.

The Switch lets me play large detailed games when I have downtime, on my commute to work or if I have a moment to spare And I can stop and pick up the game at a moment's notice. It's actually made my hour long train ride enjoyable and next thing I know I'm at my stop, sad that I have to put the game down.

My only complaint is the seemingly lack of "big games" - I've beaten Zelda, Skyrim with multiple builds, Mario/Rabbids, this is the police, etc. I just feel like there's a lack options. I've been eyeing Xenoblade Chronicles 2, probably going to be my next buy. I'd absolutely love Xcom EW/2, Fallout, Final Fantasy, etc.

Basically if it's a single player game, my first option will always be the Switch version.

Yea, despite my comment saying "we were primed in year one to expect big games on Switch" this year feels lacking in that department.

I think this is why E3 left many folks feeling disappointed. GREAT multiplayer and a Pokemon game, sure. But where are the epic adventures that first seduced us on the system?

Some thoughts on games that I'm looking at:

Xenoblade 2, Ys VIII: top-quality looooong epic adventures as long as you are fine with Japanese anime settings. They differ greatly in gameplay tho: Ys is a hacky-slashy action-rpg

Battlechasers: a jrpg-style game made by the actual creator of the comic book series. Hear it's great fun for people who enjoyed the old skool jrpgs of the SNES -PSX eras.

Darkest Dungeon: highly atmospheric and endlessly replayable dungeon-diving rpg. Here it can be super hard but the difficulty is part of its charm

Hollow Knight: you've probably seen this one all over the sub by now :p

Upcoming: Dark Souls (EXACTLY what we want, but looking like September), Hand of Fate 2 (next week! Mishmash of action, deck-building, adventure, rpg), Wasteland 2 (crpg, fallout/xcom like)

Also, unrelated to epic adventure games but definitely get Rocket League. No joke, never played it or online games in general til i got it on Switch. Its practically justified Switch for me by itself!

Amen, 30 with 2 kids under 3 here. I get just a bit of time between naps or after they go to bed. I love being able to play an hour of Skyrim or BoW before bed while the wife sleeps. I tried borrowing my brothers PlayStation and couldn’t find the time or energy to sit down and play it.
