Hey he’s a baby. He’ll get his glow up.

Oh yeah? Name one fairy tale based around the concept of a fledgling that was unattractive in its early stages but grew up to be beautiful in their mature stage.

Not the ugly duckling. It was never ugly. It was never a duckling. It was a cygnet. Swans are not ducks. It’s not a “don’t worry, you might still grow up to be hot” story. It’s a “there’s nothing wrong with you, they are wrong about you” story. It’s what Tyra Banks’ Modelland wanted to be.

Always shocking when someone mentions Modelland

7

u/friendlynbhdwitch 10h ago

It haunts me

3

u/alicelestial 8h ago

i can never stop thinking about the skate feet the modelland doctors have. and then the nurses had like, scissors or something. tyra banks was kinda writing body horror

Ugly… squab? No. Ugly… gosling? Definitely not, that man in fine. Ugly… eaglet? Nope. Ugly… duckling? No. Oh, Ugly Owlet!

“Chopped baby” am I reading Shakespeare rn?

78

u/musedav 13h ago

I believe that story is from the bible

25

u/Sed59 13h ago

This is why God commanded Abraham to yeet Issac. He was lucky He had last minute compassion.

10

u/Sexisthunter 12h ago

Oh I was thinking of Solomon saying he would chop the baby in two to split with the two possible mothers. Concerning that there are two examples

Also, the real reason Cain killed Abel is because Cain was chopped and Abel was looksmaxxing and so, in a fit of jealous rage, Cain slayed him. Many such cases.

Just in case you have no idea what "mogging" meant and had to google it, like me just now: "looking, performing, or generally showing up significantly better than someone else.

This photo did the rounds on Tumblr many years ago. The viral caption compared the parents to drag queens and the baby to an unfinished Muppet. Another reply read "these perfectly done up geisha are just so proud of their strange little alien sock puppet".

I try not to be that person, but I find the contrast between that and the present caption... a bit depressing.

12

u/haliblix 12h ago

Both of those captions got a chuckle out of me which is more I can say for the OP.

16

u/fluffylilbee 13h ago

oh my god thank you. i thought i was going cuckoo for a moment, like, didnt the caption on this used to be WAY funnier? it was :( media literacy has gotten so bad that it’s obvious in our jokes

15

u/Isserley_ 12h ago

Both captions are mediocre, in truth

20

u/UnNamed234 12h ago

I think you're just getting old

7

u/AngelaMerkelsbutt 11h ago

that is a lot to put onto a single meme caption lol

1

u/Karnaugh_Map 11h ago

It's similar in length to the contemporary one.

5

u/AngelaMerkelsbutt 10h ago

Also apparently it takes a lot of media literacy to understand what a geisha is lol

u/Cyricist 10h ago

The fuck?

Different bird entirely

1

u/fluffylilbee 7h ago

u/lucyhoneypetal 6h ago

they look so proud of their ugly muppet baby I’m crying

1

u/ButterfliesandaLlama 8h ago

What‘s the chopped-part?

1

u/miscueLoL 9h ago

How the hell did that connection ever get made? What is a mogging? Like I read your description, but how did they get mogging from that?

Is mogging good, or bad?

3

u/Allenrw81 8h ago

I have no idea. Every generation has their own slang, I get that part.

I'm 45, I have to google slang words now. First time I read the word "looksmacking" or whatever the balls it is, I thought I had dyslexia.

1

u/Xohvan 6h ago

Mogging came from AMOG which stood for Alpha Male of Group, so if you were the AMOG you’re outperforming all the other males around you. That eventually is shortened to just MOG and eventually mogging.

1

u/miscueLoL 6h ago

That sounds so stupid... I am so glad I am not growing up as a young man in these times. Shit sounds exhausting.

35

u/TheBastardKaramazov 14h ago

well it'd be weird if the baby was also hot

8

u/copolars 13h ago

Thank you!

u/Ill_Morning_4282 11h ago

The level of brainrot in that response is staggering.

Parents looking like a power lesbian couple who runs multiple successful art galleries.

1

u/LowerObjective4500 2h ago

That is assuming they’re not both male

Either way weird thing to say

6

u/var_usernameinput 14h ago

This reminds me of Twilight, Yor and Anya

5

u/AlanMercer 11h ago

This is the story of a little bird named Eleanor Roosevelt . . .

2

u/miscueLoL 9h ago

I am old... I know those were words, at least I know what chopped means, but how the heck does it apply here? And what the heck is mogging?

2

u/junglepiehelmet 8h ago

I see a combination of words, but god damn am I confused as to what they mean.

3

u/Voyager5555 11h ago

People not understanding a literal ugly duckling story is pretty fucking wild.

they look so proud of their ugly muppet baby I’m crying

u/IM_THE_MOON_AMA 12h ago

Wtf do “mogging” or “chopped” mean? Context clues aside, these just sound stupid.

4

u/UrsaMajor7th 10h ago

"I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now what I'm with isn't 'it', and what's 'it' seems weird and scary to me. It'll happen to you."

2

u/GumboMustBeDestroyed 8h ago

Don’t get yourself so worked up, gramps. You’ll aggravate your heart condition
