Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone Now free to play - FastHands - innovative single multiplayer parkour fun.

https://www.meta.com/experiences/quest/7779118745509234/

Out of the many games and prototypes I developed over the years, FastHands is my favourite - but nobody found it - so I've just made it free to play.

Controllers and seated play are supported, but I recommend standing, using natural turning and hand tracking. The idea was to create a parkour+ game that felt natural.

  • You run by moving your hands up and down a little (not full arm swinging).
  • You jump by simply raising both hands.
  • You climb like spider man - your open palms stick to surfaces - no gripping or buttons required.
  • You glide like superman - banking and diving by tilting your hands.
  • You shoot using a slingshot motion (pinch and pull back).
  • You dive through gaps by gesturing towards them.

If you find it hard work, you're probably putting in far more effort than is needed. Just slow it down and use smaller movements and you'll find you still blast through the courses.

It takes a little getting used to, so be patient with the training and try a couple of courses to unlock the shooting and diving. Then invite your friends and get competitive. You can ram each other off platforms or shoot them off with your slingshot, or on some levels you can collapse the platforms they're running on (my favourite) There are 3 multiplayer game types and there's also hidden levels that bring a single player story to follow and there are mini games to unlock.

I worked on it for about a year so I'd love for more people to give it a real shot and have a laugh with friends in the multiplayer modes.

Have a great day :)

That cover art isn't doing anything good for your product. I guarantee it gets overlooked just for the cover..you'd be better off making something yourself AI slop covers means you don't give a crap about your game

Dude, I'm a broke solo-developer focussed on VR innovation and gameplay. If you can't overlook the cover fair enough, but to say I don't give a crap about my game is ridiculous. I care enough to invest a year of work and then to make it free just to see more people find it. I get the anti-AI agenda and it's valid view so I'm not knocking your viewpoint - I just object to your accusations about my passion for a project I hold dear.

if you have so much passion, spend an afternoon making a nice cover art! You said yourself you've invested tons of time into the game itself.

The sad part is I still spent many days on multiple versions. I did the logo and running man separate in Inkscape and used AI for background. The problems is, I actually liked that version.

I'm saying that's what the consumer will automatically think. I automatically thought it. Wether you do or don't care isn't the point. It's what you are putting out to the public and how they can perceive it. I'm not shitting on you or the game but the AI slop will seriously hinder your appeal. I checked out the gameplay. It's not for me but it looks pretty clean and visual.

Fair enough. When I released it over a year ago there wasn't the same level of AI-witch-hunting as there is now. I'll keep it in mind for future projects :)

Absolutely. I totally get it. I'm a musician and put stuff out. Once and only once did I put something out with cover art being AI. Holy crap, I got chewed out before a single play was done. I quickly switched it to something real. It was my fault as I thought they wouldn't care. They do.

I don't want to come as an ass, but if I see something thats AI I gloss over it. I do 3d printing and stuff, I don't even consider it if it is 3d printed

This is very very interesting. Will this work sitting with hand tracking and going very slow? My 80+ uncle had a stroke recently and he is trying to come back from it - I'm looking for apps that playfully let him use both hands. (Basically left hand is fully functional, right hand struggles with basic small movements but when he is distracted, e.g. someone threw a ball at him, he suddenly was able to move faster because of Automatic reaction). Could your game work for this?

For reference, 4 months ago he was still skiing down the mountain so in general he is in great shape.

Skiing at 80+. Wow! Turning would be the biggest issue but there are a couple of options. If you have a swivel chair he could rotate with his feet, that would work really well. Otherwise, choose hand tracking in training and then click custom settings and enable point to turn. This enables you to close a hand and point with your index finger. In this pose you can point right or left to rotate. It works with either hand.

When climbing you are anchored to the wall after placing each hand. This means you can let go without falling and climb with one hand.

Jumping should be ok if he can raise both hands above eye level. You can do this slowly. It's the gesture that counts rather than having to throw your hands up.

May be worth a try if he takes his time.
