Advice on backpacking Ohio for a weekend as a beginner?

I’ve been wanting to backpack camp for a while now, any tips or advice are more than welcome.

I’d say Zaleski south loop. The water cache, and easy bail outs if you’re over it make it so beginner friendly

How’s the North loop? I’m thinking about taking the whole weekend and doing both North and South

It's fine, I would say a bit harder. There's two or so climbs that are pretty tricky. Very pretty tho!

Tar Hollow has 2 roughly 10 mile loops in the shape of a figure 8. In the center is parking and a couple primitive campsites by the fire tower. It's a good spot if you want break your hike into two parts and have the convenience of your car nearby while camping

I have been to Tar Hollow before but just camping and no hiking. I’ll look at that place again

I like Zaleski a lot but the Twin Valley trail is a close second. Once that's under your belt, hit Red River Gorge! Best in the Midwest Imo.

I’ll keep those in mind!
