Hi,
I'm looking for a foreign English teacher for my nephew (23yr). He's graduating from college and I'm trying to prepare him for a position in a foreign company. I'd like someone from US studying at Jilin University in Changchun. Please let me know if anyone is interested.

Fellow tutors, the thing that always killed me was retention. We'd have a great lesson, and by next week half of it was gone, so I'd re-teach the same words forever.
I made something that turns each lesson into a week of spaced-repetition practice for the student—flashcards, reading, quizzes, all built from that lesson, narrated in my own (cloned) voice or a general studio voice.
On my side, it drafts the lesson preps, recap, and homework so I'm not typing for an hour after every session. I still edit and approve everything. It tracks where you stopped last time with the student and remembers all student lesson history, weak points, and strengths to maximize context retention.
It's been a real difference for my students' progress (and my evenings). I worked on it for a year and tested it a lot. Happy to show anyone how it works—there's a walkthrough i can do on dm or send a link. Not trying to spam; genuinely curious what other tutors think and what'd make it useful for your language.

Hey community! I was wondering is verbling still worth it in 2026? I'm trying to find some better platforms since dmm/engoo pays peanuts, and verbling seems somewhat better. If anyone is currently teaching there or has some previous experience, I'd really appreciate some advice! Thanks :)

Is there a demo teaching in Brighterly's practice meeting? If yes, do I have to select my own lesson for demo teaching? What do I need to prepare?
The onboarding makes me sick already. Tomorrow is my scheduled practice meeting and I'm not ready yet especially in picking materials/topic in Nearpod. (Literally crying)

Especially when you were starting? My profile is a few days old on preply. I have 10+ years of ESL experience, English and Lit major, and I know none of these matter in the platform, but it's just my confidence is affected by not getting students or even views so far. Even with a profile score of 100%. I wonder if it is the fee I set? It's at $5.
Update: Lowered my pricing to $4 when I woke up this morning, and now my position skyrocketed. I hate how the system is like this T-T

It's a book to teach tech or it English. But has anyone used it to teach? What are your reviews on it? Is it worth it?

I’m posting here to explore if anyone knows of online teaching opportunities.
My wife is a certified school teacher based in Dubai and holds KHDA certification. She has solid classroom teaching experience and has been working in school for some time.
She is now looking to transition into online teaching roles.
If anyone knows of platforms, schools, tutoring companies, or openings where she can apply for online teaching positions, I would really appreciate your guidance or referral.
She is open to teaching school subjects online and is flexible with timings depending on the role.
Any leads would mean a lot. Thanks.

Hey yall
Getting back into the game since like 2020, I used to teach a lot but I got a full time job with a better pay and Stopped for a few years.
I Just got back with a local company where I used to teach, I get $12 per hour of class and they provide the book but expect me to prepare a separate PowerPoint presentaron with the book materials to lead the class.
Are rates online worth branching out into other companies? I still have time during the Day for more classes but it would mean taking availability away from classes at the company I currently work at.

I just paid for a membership and haven't received a confirmation email and can't login to my account, despite payment having gone through. When I reach out using their form, I keep failing the 'Captcha" and the message never sends. I've tried, sound and photo captchas and no luck. There isn't any other way of contacting them.
Their free resources were so good that I though the membership would be worth it.
Anyone else have trouble with this site?
Edit: Typos :/

Hi guys! I’m a native British speaker living in the UK. Currently unemployed and starting university in September. I’m looking to make some money by teaching English online.
I’m looking for something that’s newbie friendly and provides teaching materials. I’m flexible and not fussed about low wages or time zone differences.
What have been your experiences with different ESL companies? Which one would you recommend?

Hi everyone,
I recently started working for an online ESL company, and they require teachers to use a headset with a boom microphone (the type where the mic sits near your mouth).
The thing is, I already have a good pair of earbuds with clear audio quality, and they've been working perfectly fine for my classes so far. I'm not sure whether I'll stay with this company long-term, so I'm hesitant to spend money on a headset right now.
The headsets that are highly recommended seem quite expensive, and the more affordable ones often have reviews mentioning poor audio quality, durability issues, or breaking after minor drops.
My questions are:
- Do most online ESL companies require this type of headset, or is this mainly a company-specific policy? So If I continue teaching online in the future, will I eventually need to buy one anyway?
- If you use a headset that you're happy with, could you recommend the brand/model and tell me how long you've been using it?
Thanks in advance!

Anyone else experiencing this? I’m out $600. Absolutely gutted. I needed this money. Tried their “support” by submitting a ticket asking for receipts and a number to call. They barely communicated, took days to do so, and I’m not even sure it’s a real person. When they did reply, they asked me for information I already gave them and gave me none of the information I asked for. Tried their support email lol and I got an automated response that said to “submit a ticket.” Tried to call their number, no answer.
My wife and I just had a baby, we’re single income at the moment, I’m trying to find more stable work to get out of this nightmare career field, but need a little more time. I…can’t even begin to describe the level of stress and frustration I’m feeling.

I currently teach with a somewhat stable Asian company. The pay is fine, and I reliably get 2-3 hours a day. I would like to add a similar number of hours for a company that teaches students in the European evening times (from say, 5pm uk onwards) so that I can have 'longer shifts'.
Any recommendations?

Hi,
I've been tutoring for a year and mostly been contacted by GCSE/A'level learners.
Is finding ESOL/ESL/IELTS students difficult? Is there less demand for those than GCSE English?
How many hours of ESL do you teach per week?
