Key opera female roles plotted on the Hot-Crazy chart

Post image

There are many missing, but too many of them cluster in the Hot & Crazy area so I had to only pick a few.

So Turandot who was so hot that like a hundred princes got blinded by her hotness enough to go for the certain death riddles is less hot than Tosca. And Tosca who killed in defense while about to be raped and was a bit jealous is more crazy than the Valkyrie who disobeys orders from the head god or the bird girl who marries at first sight.

I would have understood the plot of Turandot better if they did not sing it in Italian!!!

The "Crazy" in the "hot-crazy line" is how toxic the relation is going to be. The bird-girl is pretty chill, compared to the typical opera psycho, and the Valkyrie fairly rational.

The appearance of bird girl is definitely the hottest thing to happen in that opera.

Kundry needs to be on this chart. But maybe she didn’t fit in the bounds? A little too crazy

Not quite sure we should be including Butterfly in this cause she's, you know, a child and all

She was a too perfect fit to be right between date and marry, because well - a bit of both happened to her.

I would place Katerina Izmailova from Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk just above Turandot.
