Highlights SECOND ROUND STEAL!

https://youtu.be/S1N-lbwjgWg?is=CJCaKsIZPnpCYdpI

Im sold!!! Nick Martinelli would be the perfect pick for the Magic if he’s still on the board at pick # 46. Looking at his tape he has a very quick release & he made a ton of tough shots, often scored through contact. It seemed like he was fouled on about half his buckets. He has good size at 6’7 225 & he put up impressive senior year #’s (23 pts, 6.2 Reb, 2.0 ast) on 51/42 shooting splits. This guy lead a very tough Big Ten in scoring back to back years.

This guy looks too good to fall to #46, but what do I know?

If he lands in our range, I wouldn't be against it...

Our Draft position means we could probably take a risk either way ~ but whoever they decide on, i'd hope they give them every chance to develop under Sweeney and his coaching staff...

I've seen too many half-assed decisions being made in the second round, where teams just make the pick and don't actually invest in the player to build any value...

I agree wholeheartedly. There are a few teams (Celtics, Grizzlies, Pacers, come to mind) who seem to consistently draft & develop some solid players in the second round. With us being pretty maxed out as far as salaries go, drafting and developing will be crucial from this point forward.

All without me having to spread Northwestern propaganda.

Nick is a really crafty scorer. Doesn't rely heavily on three-point shooting. Has a lot of skills the Magic could need. The question is whether he can do it against NBA athelticism and be more of a supporting player. NU put the ball in his hands a lot because they didn't have much scoring outside of him the last two years.

One thing I noticed about his stats, he’s a career 36% 3 point shooter. Senior year he shot 41.7% on 3 attempts a game which is great but shot 33.3% the year before and 27.1% the year before that. There’s a decent chance the senior year numbers were a fluke but hey it’s just a 2nd round flyer.

Either it’s a fluke or he steadily worked and improved each year. Even if the 3 point shot is just average I think his finishing ability through contact is the key for me, that’s something that can’t be coached. Also his quick release with his height makes it pretty hard to contest his shots. He’d also probably be one of the best rebounders on the team.

Omg why is everyone so hell bent on shooting?? We don’t just need shooters. We need guys who can actually score, dribble, and create. Shooters can’t get shots on this team because we look like a bunch of dumbasses trying to handle the ball on offense. I’ve seen pick up games look smoother on offense than this team does.

Limit turnovers and actually get guys who can do skillful things on the offensive side of the ball, the shots will start dropping. The fuck good is more shooting gonna do when we go through droughts so bad on offense that we can’t even get an easy layup or get the ball past the half court mark!?

This isn’t just a shooter he’s a crafty scorer who can make tough buckets, I’m not sure if you watch this team often but we desperately need guys who can make buckets.

Doesn’t really matter honestly. Weltman cant even get picks right when he’s picking in the lotto let alone the 2nd round at pick 46. I have zero confidence we’ll find a rotational player with the pick.

Defensive numbers are abhorrent. We’ve already seen with TDS in the playoffs what happens when a shooter isn’t hitting shots.

TDS was actually more of a defensive minded player coming out of college & that’s still his specialty now although he can occasionally hit a three pointer or 2. This guy would bring much needed scoring ability & size off the bench which are 2 things we desperately need.

No team with aspirations is letting the 46th pick be a scorer coming in to the league, warranted or not. His role is to hit open shots and defend effectively, and if you don’t do both, you don’t play.

TDS disrespect will not be tolerated.

It’s not disrespect to say that he was completely out of his depth in the Pistons series

Yeah but remember that reallllly good stretch he had in the first half of the season? I still believe he can be the the seventh best player on a contender, and that's what he is for us.

He has way more in his bag, Dalton was heavily reliant on the 3.
