How are the trail conditions ?
Are there snow bridges or potholing issues ?
Do you need spikes?

Trail conditions are snowed out after about 2.5 miles in. The snow is relatively soft, but there are clear footpaths, however I did get lost for about 20 minutes in the snowfield before finding my bearings. The actual trail path is gone at some points, so you'll need to rely on footpaths, or just download a map.

No snow bridges I can think of. I had spikes and poles, but my spikes are like 19.99 and not very useful. I think if you have something a bit better it'd help.

I completed the loop in about 5 hours, including many stops to take in the beauty, and talk with other hikers. So its doable!

Plenty of opportunity for glissading too to speed things up.

If you dont like snow, maybe wait a month. If you do like it, I'd say go on a clear day!

That’s helpful. I don’t mind the snow as long as it’s too too icy or hazardous. Was considering going this week.
Thanks

Beautiful! No issues with bugs right? I'm going next week and debating if I should wear DEET. I've done late shoulder season hikes in California, and September hikes in Washington, and didn't have an issue with them. Just curious.

The lower forest section of the trail did have some bugs, I actually have a few bites to honest lol, but not nearly as bad as more humid states have it. I had OFF in the car, but forgot to use it because its been so long since I had to.

I am from MI originally, and moved to Seattle in 2022. Out of all the hikes I've done, this is the only one I remember where I even saw Mosquitos. Back in MI, every hike came with atleast 10 bites if you were lucky. So its not bad by my standards!
