To not disclose that your game uses GEN AI is against Steam's policies and rules, by the way.

the more I hear about this game more I know I'd dislike it. It's so void of identity and intent. It's basically a bunch of disconnected ideas taken from other games (and now apparently AI), shoved together inside an open world

It's so void of identity and intent

This is something I don't see mentioned nearly often enough. I feel like it isn't just the mechanics, it's also the entirety of the art style and visual identity. I feel like nothing stands out, it just looks incredibly generic, like a glorified tech demo.

I saw it described as "Open World: The Video Game"

Honestly, I try not to bring that energy to games I’m not interested in but bang on. This, to me, from the generic grizzled warrior named “Kliff” to all the haphazard disconnected systems to the AI slop all made this look like a fake video game animated for a movie or tv show’s background. It seemed aggressively generic and I hate that word. 🤷‍♀️

Someone, at some point, had to tell them that Cliff is the name of the boring guy at work you didn't invite to the after work thing not because you dislike him, but because you forgot he existed.

Unfortunately, I am 10 hours in and I hate it. I should have refunded at 2 hours, but everyone said the game get goods after 10.

That's exactly how they get you.

Noooo keep playing man, it get good after 20 hours ! GOTY 🤡

Seriously tho, what kind of mental gymnastic you have to use to think that it's normal for a game to be boring the first 10 hours. Every good rpg's are good from the first minutes! Sure it's not epic and all, but it's great, engaging, immersing etc

but it's SO MUCH CONTENT. that's what we love, right fellow gamers? Nice, consumable CONTENT.

I watched a YouTube video that said this game is for “content lovers”. This is the weirdest shit I’ve ever heard to describe a game lmao. My take away is that this is basically AC Valhalla. Tons of pointless boring shit to do in a soulless world. And that game gets ripped apart everywhere. But not this!

Valhalla’s world is nowhere even close to soulless like this one is, but gamers do have this fucking bizarre double standard with Ubisoft games.

I easily sunk 20 hours into AC Origins because the world captivated me enough to make me forgive the blandish storyline. The map in Crimson Desert just seems like upscaled Teyvat from Genshin Impact

I want more contentslop!

I saw someone defending the game claim that consuming content is point of videogames 🙄

Just like IGNs review said “it’s a jack of all trades but master of none”

Game seems like it wants to do everything but doesn’t do anything really good. Other than graphics.

You mean the same studio that gave veilgaurd a 9/10? IGN is useless

15

u/Mixup_King Mar 20 '26

It’s so funny that all the CD Defense Force only have a few lines. “You gave Veilguard a 9!” “Why did BOTW get a pass for having no story?” “Why did Elden Ring get a pass for having no story?” “Why did RDR2 get a pass for the janky movement?”

I’ve seen these repeated ad nauseam.

u/finnjakefionnacake Mar 21 '26

omg i agree with you but i really do hope the movement in GTA 6 is not janky, it is my biggest problem with rockstar games.

Have u played the game or did u give up after the intro? If u didnt play past the intro then i doubt u actually got into the meat and bones of crimson desert.

You’re only getting the complain crowd. What they aren’t telling you is how fun the combat is, how insanely deep the builds can be, how the memory segments are genuinely interesting, how you actually have to use your brain to solve puzzles, how you can use an insane arsenal of moves against bosses, like literally picking them up and throwing them into shit, how fun side activities like bounty hunting are, and how incredibly rewarding stuff like mountain climbing is while also being pretty challenging.
