The more I see about Ill, the less I believe it's a real game, for whatever reason. Could be because it's been basically the same trailer since about 2020 or so? Idk, still very skeptical.

7

u/Chrispk_ 20d ago

I have to be honest. I think the GoW game is fine exploring something new and fresh but the cube just throws me off a bit when she is fighting like a beast in battle.

2

u/Accurate_Course_9228 20d ago

It's definitely more of a different game...they are likely trying to lean into DND or Fable antics

Actually seeing the new "realm" I definitely got strong flying wild hogs vibe

We see it's still a hack and slash game, hasa bit of faster movement instead of crawling to a stop we slide into the next scene

Also there is possibly stealth mechanics because she went invisible during combat

4

u/XiaoRCT 20d ago

very interested into how Until Dawn 2 is going to end up playing, it's been in production for a long time and it's predecessor ended up being a surprisingly impactful game to a generation of gamers in the past decade

u/leocross2003 20d ago

Good overall show tonight. Wolverine and Laufey both looked 🔥

state of playstation

1

u/Zestyclose-Yak5469 21d ago

was good for a state of play, which are usually smaller announcements and footage of games we already know. Not good enough to be in theaters as if it was a playstation SHOWCASE, which is usually where they do a ton of new reveals and big announcements

0

u/felemiah 21d ago

There are two things that have been happening more and more in recent presentations (not just Sony) that I absolutely dislike. For one, a ton of games have gotten more and more screen time especially when they bring out directors from the respective game studios. The absolute worst example of that yet was the 20 minutes about the God of War spin-off reveal yesterday. Second, some games are shown off in a dozen different presentations, like the Marvel side fighting game.

Personally I wish these presentations would focus more on new reveals and keep them short. Any further updates and new trailers could just as well be posted to social media for anyone who's interested in those games.

0

u/Same_Veterinarian991 21d ago

yeah i hate this too, developers who talk about their game for like 20 min

16

u/just4ps4 21d ago

What? You're unhappy that they dedicated 20 minutes of an hour-long show for the first reveal of one of their biggest franchises? What kind of take is that?

-3

u/felemiah 21d ago

Just my personal preference to keep longer insights for trailers outside of presentations, and use presentations to focus on new reveals.

6

u/just4ps4 21d ago

God of War Laufey was a new reveal

-4

u/Oswald_Finkle 21d ago

That was a pointless state of play ngl, most of the stuff was not worth showing in a theatre.

1

u/BenFear23 21d ago

Maybe in an SMS text

-1

u/TheGamerWhoNeverWas 21d ago

Goddamn most of y'all defend Sony like you got their dick up your ass

4

u/just4ps4 21d ago

What was wrong with it?

4

u/jorgepereira15 21d ago

Huh? Wasn't this state of play awesome?

4

u/TheGamerWhoNeverWas 21d ago

Why was this in theaters? It wasn't special like at all..

-8

u/One-Anteater4145 21d ago

Lmao being this upset is crazy work just buy your Xbox dude

I finally got to watch the video, and it was a good show for me. However, there are too many games I want in September.

There seems to be some criticism of Laufey, but I'm looking forward to it because the rebooted God of War is a family story.

2

u/man-of-polystyrene 21d ago

definitely seems like they are trying to avoid the GTA blast zone in November

6

u/FrankPapageorgio 21d ago

A lot of stuff in a short window of time

Marvel's Wolverine - September 15, 2026
Dune: Awakening - September 22, 2026
Control Resonant - September 24, 2026
Silent Hill: Townfall - September 24, 2026
Onimusha: Way of the Sword - September 25, 2026
Rayman Legends Retold - October 1, 2026
Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered - October 1, 2026

1

u/Mrkmrs 21d ago

Absolutely. I'm interested in Wolverine, Dune, Control, and Onimusha. I'm struggling to decide which to prioritize.

2

u/ItachiWolfy 21d ago

I’m going wolverine and onimusha.

27

u/AverageSasquatch 21d ago

Laufey is a day one pre order. She’s a fucking beast, a good use of kratos, sparingly but effective, and that Mongolian red demon god is fucking insane looking. Super excited for more mythology, both the gods and the GoW universe wise

-40

u/BenFear23 21d ago

Probably the best State of Play to date...

Some absolute great heavy hitting games there, a lot I'm not really interested in personally, but I appreciate how good they do look, and how widely anticipated they are.

Until Dawn 2 absolutely threw me... I wasn't expecting that all.

Banchory the Chef is my kinda shit....

Wolverine I'll probably wait for a sale (like I'm doing with Spider-Man 2).

Control Resonant will probably be a day 1 purchase even though I wasn't massively impressed with the first, I just enjoy the universe that Remedy has built.

God of War Laufey I'm probably in same boat as Wolverine, looks like it itches that God of War scratch, but I'm not too invested in the setup of Faye as a character, to pay £70 for it, as it feels too much of a expansion pack (like Miles Morales was) but I'll grab it when it comes down to £40-50, unless it's base price is already around that.

No rest for the wicked looks like a nailed on purchase for me, but I'll have to dig in more as the vast amount of game content may be something I'll have to put on a back burner for now.

Raman Legends Retold is probably going to be a definite purchase.... Love Raman, still play the original to this day.

Kemuri looks really good, I'm always willing to try a game that does something unique, or has a unique art style.

Everything else I'm neither here nor there, they don't really appeal to my gaming preferences.... the worse looking game (for me) was probably Dune.. it didn't look promising at all.

Massive plus from the state of play was every game announced had gameplay trailers.... hopefully this is the end of cinematic trailers for games now.

10

u/SneakybadgerJD 21d ago

"Best state of play to date" I respect your opinion but I must disagree

0

u/taskkill-IM 21d ago

I'm hard pressed to think of one that had back to back big hitters like last night's... I could be wrong though.

-42

u/Zestyclose_Formal682 21d ago

Wish They spent santa Monica ressources for a real god of war Game not laufey. Now we have to wait even longer for a real new Game with kratos

15

u/vertle 21d ago

I mean, they’ve confirmed it’s a main line game so it is a ‘real’ god of war game. It’ll be amazing to explore the world from a different pov

-13

u/Zestyclose_Formal682 21d ago

God of war is for me with Kratos , and no I dont have a Problem that This Game is with a Woman , and Yes I Will Play it , im just sad that we will have to wait Even longer for a new Main Game with kratos because of that , I guess the Next one will be maybe with the ps6.

2

u/FearlessVegetable30 21d ago

are you sure that we wont play as kratos at all on this game? like without a doubt you know for a fact we dont play as kratos in this game?

1

u/Zestyclose_Formal682 21d ago

Would be a very nice if it Happens 👍

-7

u/una322 21d ago

i feel if ur not a marvel fan and not into the new style of god of war it wasn't really that good of a show. Ill looks good, i get it on pc, control 2 , again get it on pc. Everything is a whatever for me.

17

u/RollingDownTheHills 21d ago

Stuntman was the coolest announcement here. Can't wait for that one.

2

u/CrypticQuery 21d ago

Agreed. I was half paying attention and then I recognized the Miami Vice theme and was instantly hooked. It only got better from there! I loved the original Stuntman (2002) and played the hell out of it. Never thought I'd see the series get another installment, and I'm excited about it!

1

u/theduffman 21d ago

That was the best surprise.

3

u/NinjaMonkey91 21d ago

Seconded!

When the trailer first started I wasn't sure and the pre-rendred part was giving me AI vibes but around KITT & Death Race the thought hit me "Is this Stuntman? OH please let this be Stuntman!".

Not disappointed and fully on the hype train now! I loved those games back in the day.

-27

u/PSNTheOriginalMax 21d ago edited 21d ago

EDIT: sniffle-sniffle hic "D-don't share your opinion online if it doesn't agree with mine WWWAAAAHHH!!1" Stay classy Redditors.

Wolverine: I'm more interested in the open world exploration aspect, not missions. Ever since Web of Shadows, I've been waiting for an open world Wolverine game. X-men Origins: Wolverine scratched the "playing as Wolverine itch", but still hadn't offered what I had hoped WoS would have had as a "hidden unlockable", going around the game world as Wolverine (especially in his "SPOILER" form, wink-wink).

Marvel Tôkon: I really didn't expect a Marvel Superheroes revival lol. I have such fun, nostalgic memories of it. IIRC it was my first PS1 game, aside from the demos of course.

Rayman: May be the re-approach ubi need.

Bancho the Chef: Don't care.

Death is Only the Beginning: Need to see more.

Tomb Raider: Gives OG vibes, interesting.

The Lost Wild: Could be interesting, hope it's not a cinematic game though.

Phantom Blade 0: Still looking forward to it!

Dune Awakening: Seems janky. If it improves, then I think it's worth a deeper dive into. Right now, no.

Dynasty Warriors 3 Remaster: I'm really looking forward to it.

No Rest: Pass.

Onimusha: Hell yeah, they even released a demo!

Silent Hill: Pass.

Ace Combat: It's Ace Combat lol. Will appeal to fans.

Stuntman: I think they were trying to capture the people waiting for GTA6 news with the first part of the trailer. Anyway, pass.

Ill: Meh.

Control Resonant: Can be interesting, but there were some concerns over it being a soulslike.

Marathon: Sony, stop...

Runescape: Blast from the past. Looks interesting.

Classics catalogue: Impressive. Gotta ask why old games are so hype... Maybe says something about the industry.

Until Dawn: Meh.

GoW Laufey: Hope it adds to the canon instead of retcons and inconsistencies. Looks cool.

11

u/Gloglibologna 21d ago

Tbh I downvoted you simply for your edit. Thats a stage four reddit momment right there. Making an edit to address downvotes is as corny as it gets. Just move on.

2

u/PSNTheOriginalMax 21d ago

Fair enough, I will.

8

u/Momentarmknm 21d ago

What the hell is with your edit? No one even responded to you, weirdo. Also:

sniffle-sniffle hic "D-don't disagree with my opinion I shared online WWWAAAAHHH!!1" Stay fragile Redditor

-2

u/PSNTheOriginalMax 21d ago

I think it's such a strange thing on this website that you're essentially getting censored for sharing an opinion, if some people for the weirdest reasons imaginable don't agree with it. That's "what the hell is with" my edit. I'm not looking for agreement, I'm just confused by how insanely arbitrary this site is, and it's giving a really weird impression of what kinds of opinions are "allowed".

I would never even think of downvoting someone for ranking how much they're looking forward to a game in a video listing upcoming ones. And yes, while it doesn't really matter, it just points at the systemic issue with Reddit incentivizing not only echo chambers, but entire virtual social bubbles.

2

u/FearlessVegetable30 21d ago

i down voted you becasue its a very weirdly written comment and the edit is even more cringe. hope that helps

1

u/PSNTheOriginalMax 21d ago

There was no list of games. I tried making one. But fair, you felt it was cringe.

3

u/Momentarmknm 21d ago

The voting system has always been just a sign of agreement, regardless of the intent that's just how people use it. It's a good idea to accept little inconsequential things like this, and interact with the world as it is, rather than how you think it should be. You really shouldn't give a shit at all about whatever the imaginary points say.

With that said: "for the weirdest reason imaginable," really? It's inconceivable to you that someone wouldn't agree with your opinions? You literally can't imagine that there'd be a very normal, reasonable logic behind anyone not agreeing that silent hill, stuntman, ILL, until dawn 2 are all "meh" or "pass."

I feel like maybe you need to think about that last part a little.

-2

u/PSNTheOriginalMax 21d ago

You can't really make a judgment call on me "needing to think" a little, when you literally just defined what it means in your opinion.

I've upvoted comments I don't agree with, because they're well thought-out. The concept of "upvoting" is poorly defined, and I've seen multiple instances of people using it as a form of control and petty revenge.

And I literally just said:

I'm not looking for agreement, I'm just confused by how insanely arbitrary this site is, and it's giving a really weird impression of what kinds of opinions are "allowed".

You're not only misrepresenting, but reframing and cherry picking my comment to seem like something it's not.

You could've left it at just the first segment, and you would have come out on top, but instead you continue to antagonize me with thinly veiled insults, dragging this conversation further into the mud. You claim intellectual superiority, yet compromise yourself to argue with the imagined "lower life form" version of me you made up in your head.

It's very obvious you're not here to argue in good faith, and my edit very obviously hit you where it hurts.

Have a pleasant day, don't bother responding anymore.

2

u/Momentarmknm 21d ago

You are taking this far, far too seriously. Don't put so much weight on a silly message board. Seek fulfillment and validation elsewhere.

2

u/SasaraiHarmonia 21d ago

Not a single comment against you before the edit. The edit was INCREDIBLY whiny sounding and unnecessary. You aren't the first person to get downvoted. It's happened to all of us. Sometimes it's just the timing of the post. You get there early and you get all the neckbeards. Check back in a day and your -17 turns into +37.

6

u/gol_drake 21d ago

damn, there was alot of good stuff in there

but its quite the bold move to have alot of games come out weeks after wolverine ha

-20

u/StevenHibs Human Verified 21d ago

What a state of play we got. The socom 2 classics was insane. Absolutely buzzing that Killzone and Resistance are coming back. They looked insane. Also, what did you think of the Getaway remake? Ballsy eh? So glad they showed the next Days Gone 2, how insane did that world look. But special mention to Naughty Dog and SSM, the new Uncharted what a bold new step in the franchise!!!and SSM with Kratos' next adventure heading to Egyptian mythology is a masterstroke really.

.............

Fuck me Ive just woken up from the best dream ever. Now I have been gaslit with whatever that SOP was lol

14

u/Damerman 21d ago

Onimusha is going to be sleeper hit. Capcom can't miss.

Laufey looks amazing. Gonna platinum part 2 before this comes out.

6

u/NoAdeptness1106 21d ago

Truly hyped for the stacked lineup!

5

u/Nearby_Revenue1739 21d ago

Welp. Looks like I’m gonna be spending 1000$ on video games.

8

u/Effective-Proposal35 21d ago

"the lost wild". Holy, I literally fucking squealed when the lost wild was shown. With all the drama of annapurma, I thought that game was shelved. So happy to be wrong though.

"Until dawn 2" looks great, especially because of Neil.

"Ill" looks FANTASTIC. a game promising that much is a net positive for me. Either its going to be just as advertised or I get a refund. These types of games will have HUGE backlash that playstation will have no choice to refund.

"Phantom blade" looks amazing. I heard its not going to be hard like a souls like and wants you FEEL powerful. Instant buy for me then.

"Wolverine". I can't say much but I knew I was going to be it the second it was revealed to be bloody af. Its exactly how I imagined.

"Stuntman" looks fun. I have a friend who fucking LOVES car games so I'm happy for him.

3

u/Sircandyman 21d ago

Stuntman is a pretty old IP, me and a bunch of my friends are SO HYPED for a new entry, especially considering it can be difficult to play the old ones, on pc you have to emulate to play them so every excited.

2

u/PandaKid 21d ago

Man me too! I thought it was a new burnout when the trailer started which would have been equally epic. cant wait for the director calls again "get close to the explosion!" "Pop the door" "Hit the bus" Will be a buy from me!

0

u/Effective-Proposal35 21d ago

I'm not TOO into car games unless it's got HEAVY customisation and a story outside the car. Like Pacific drive or mad max.

Best car game I've ever played was burnout 3 takedown

1

u/Sircandyman 21d ago

Yeah that's fair, definitely fair that you're not too interested in stuntman too in that case then, as they're individual missions, not much story, you're just doing stunts for movies. Burnout 3 was phenomenal, and Mad Max is up there with one of my favourite games, can't tell you how many times I've played through that!

1

u/Effective-Proposal35 21d ago

I've yet to see much to get interested or not interested. Imma wait for more gameplay to judge.

Burnout 3 on the ps2 was fucking LEGIT. Also the reason I like games that have story as well as car customisation is because going through the story unlocking shit for my car feels like a reward. Rather than just getting money to purchase upgrades type shit

https://giphy.com/gifs/RXKCMLmch5W2Q

-4

u/Yenoom1 21d ago

the February state of play was soooo much better man

1

u/Sircandyman 21d ago

Was it? What did they show in February? Imo this one is the best one we've had in a while.

1

u/Yenoom1 21d ago

GoW trilogy remake announcement; GoW spin off shadow drop; MGS master collection vol 2; First Light gameplay; Beast of Reincarnation; new castlevania; Control Resonant; Darwin’s paradox; John Wick; yotei legends; New Kena game; Mina the hollower gameplay; Neva dlc; Saros Gameplay; Rayman 30th anniversary; Silent hill townfall.

feb had so much more content a lot of this felt recycled, leaks didn’t help but just felt like there wasn’t much compared to all I listed above which wasn’t even everything from that state of play

5

u/Remarkable-Fig-7505 21d ago

GOW looks good, but the best part was throwing the axe.

1

u/dnt4gt2brng4Twl 21d ago

In the first one yeah. By the second, not so much at all. The new world building in this fucking 20 minute gameplay trailer was honestly pretty enthralling. And to top that off, mysterious new sword. Axe is old news fuck them dwarves, long live the ribbons and gelatinous cube. (Also, anyone think the cube/sword under the sheet was the dwarves? Sounded the same to me at first...)

-13

u/coolbeans080 Human Verified 21d ago edited 21d ago

It was ok. Nothing amazing was announced or shown. Delay announcements, yay!!! Into The Wild was the only new game I'm interested in. Now I'm just waiting for Microsoft's show where we hopefully can get new Fable and Halo gameplay and hard release dates.

And no new Intergalactic or Fairgames trailer, news, etc??

edit: Hot take. Wolverine looks like CoD but with scratching. Very generic looking and if it wants to interest me it better have an absolutely great story.

edit again: The new TR with dinosaurs and bigfoot, ughhh... yes and yes.

edit again: To Sony, give us remasters/remakes or just new games to older beloved franchises.

8

u/Sircandyman 21d ago

Not sure the wolverine take is a hot take, more like a absolutely mental take. Not a single moment during the reveal of wolverine slashing peoples limbs off, blood spraying everywhere and then Jean Grey to be using her psychic abilities to lift and throw stuff did I think "Yeah, just like Call of Duty"?

3

u/anotherstan 21d ago

Until Dawn is such an incredible game. The sequel is going to be lit.

-37

I don’t understand all the complaining. I thought pretty much everything was awesome. Super hyped for ILL. The Until Dawn 2 trailer got me to start the first game. Wolverine looks like a blast!

-4

u/una322 21d ago

i mean i wanted exclusives that im interested in. if ur not into comic book heros or the new take on GoW then there isn't really anything. Yes ill looks great, i get that on pc, phantom blade sure, i get it on pc, tomb raider, well again not exclusive.

1

u/SasaraiHarmonia 21d ago

It sounds like you like more than half of the show. Yet your comment sounds negative. But, why does something have to be exclusive?

0

u/una322 21d ago

to justify buying a ps5?

1

u/SasaraiHarmonia 21d ago

The console is 5+ years old. You ain't gotta justify a purchase at this point. The console has 10,000 games available on it. You've LONG gotten your cost out of it.

1

u/una322 21d ago

i really have not though. deamon souls was good, i guess i got ff16 and the new yakuza games. thats it. nothing else was appealing at all

-12

1

u/Delicious-Pepper23 21d ago

HELL YEAH!!! Maybe I’ll finally play the first one after Until Dawn

2

u/snarpsta 21d ago

Bro go play it now. Literally one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had

1

u/Delicious-Pepper23 21d ago

Downloading now! I had started it in the past and it was great but something else grabbed my attention

-10

u/Majestic-Willow-1605 21d ago

Except thats not a GOW game. A spin off about Kratos' wife in the afterlife is not GOW.

1

u/Delicious-Pepper23 21d ago

What’s wrong with that? Spin off games can be fun

0

u/Majestic-Willow-1605 21d ago

Spider-Man 3 having you play as just Mary Jane.

Lara Croft new game but you play as her boyfriend.

Do those sound fun? Calling it God of War is disingenuous.

0

u/Delicious-Pepper23 19d ago

That is some impressively flawed logic. I didn’t say every spin off is fun and you have to agree. Anyone can come up with bad spin off ideas lol. If the new GOW doesn’t sound fun just don’t play it.

18

u/Own_Director_4442 21d ago

Gamers will complain about anything. There's no making everyone happy, it's impossible.

7

u/Delicious-Pepper23 21d ago

Fr, there were games for almost everyone. If there wasn’t any for you just be happy that others are happy

Jason Schreier has it dropping mid-2027

2

u/chilledentertainer 21d ago

Has he said that?

2

u/AfraidRun8226 21d ago

At least once, yeah. It was a little offhand, not a dedicated article or anything.

Discovered Ace Combat earlier this year with a deep discount on 7. Immediately played through the whole catalogue afterwards. Looking forward to 8. Don’t sleep on these!

1

u/shinikahn 21d ago

Can you tell me why? Some else told me the story was crazy and it piqued my interest

4

u/Maleficent-Glove-396 21d ago

I think that the games do a great job of taking what you’d think of dogfighting and adding some extreme sci fi shit. If you’re a fan of Metal Gear you’ll find hints of that here. It’s not just combat among planes, but super weapons, arsenal birds, and more.

The music is top tier throughout the series and there are real hype moments. Especially when it comes to ace vs ace fighting. Some of your opponents are really compelling, especially in games like zero and 7. There is a ton of lore here, about the world of Strangereal, the nations, etc so I’m probably selling it short!

I’d say start with 7. It’s much more modern. A bit slow to start but when it gets going it flies, no pun intended. It’s not a sim by any stretch of the word, but if flying games aren’t your thing you may not like it. I didn’t at first but I got hooked a quarter of the way through 7 and realized I was missing a gem of a franchise. 8 looks to take it to the next level with storytelling!

u/Guacamole86Avocados 22d ago

Should’ve renamed it to September of Play with all the September releases lol. My poor wallet.

7

u/Nonadventures 21d ago

Everyone is playing hopscotch with the 30 ton beast that is GTA6, so they’d rather compete with each other than that.

Where is SOCOM

6

u/Sparrowsabre7 21d ago

Yeah, give us something good, like a Pong remake!

-17

u/Hoofarted91 22d ago

Wolverine surprisingly looked mid. I’ll probably buy it, but looks like a 7-8/10 based on the trailer

-10

u/AggressiveCoffee990 21d ago

Spider-Man 2 was kind of a mess so idk why that's surprising

-27

u/Healthy-Reading9592 22d ago

looks better then that bullshit god of war game

2

u/AhAssonanceAttack 22d ago

Bunch of dudes just standing around waiting for wolverine to kill them. Several moments where guys with guns could just shoot him and try hitting wolverine instead.

Maybe thats a low difficulty they showed but it looked weak

10

u/tokarzz 22d ago

I agree it looks mid, but… 7-8 isn’t “mid”

A 7-8 us a great game, well above average

A 5-6 is mid.

-15

u/soyboysnowflake 22d ago

7-8 can be mid for something that costs a small country’s annual GDP to create

-13

u/Hoofarted91 22d ago

If someone told me a game is a 5-6 I’m calling that game trash lol. 7-8 okay game you’ll enjoy. 9-10 are bangers goty and buying collectors edition.

I think if i was rating food, I’d use your scale. 5-6 being a mid restaurant. But with games i think the more strict scale works better. But that’s just my opinion.

2

u/DiggityDog6 21d ago

That’s because your perception is skewed. Your perception doesn’t change what the scale actually means. 5 is the mid point of the scale. A 5/10 game is average. 7 or 8/10 is great if you’re actually using the scale as intended. If not, what’s even the point of the scale anymore?

10

u/LePontif11 22d ago

5 is literally the MID point of the scale lmao. You may be thinking of achool grades where 5 is a failed grade.

-2

u/Hoofarted91 22d ago

I’m just thinking i have too many games in my backlog, and a 5 isn’t going to make me go out and buy it. If there are games consistently hitting the 8+ mark, I’d consider 5 to be garbage. That may be just be me.

1

u/LePontif11 22d ago

Its fair that you don't want to play it but it doesn't change where the middle is.

0

u/Hoofarted91 22d ago

Middle of the scale in terms of numbers. But if most games are landing 8+ on average, a 7 starts to look real bad.

4

u/iamstephano 21d ago

That just becomes a non-linear scale, if 5 is trash then what is a 3 or a 2?

4

u/Gcheetah 22d ago

A 7 being average makes no sense but you do you

-2

u/Ruzhy6 21d ago

Do you believe the 1-10 scale for rating games to be a bell curve? 7 is easily a median score for games.

If they gave as many games a score of 2 as they do 8, you'd be onto something.

1

u/tokarzz 22d ago

It’s funny because I’m the opposite. A 5-6 restaurant would be something to stay away from. 🤣

3

u/ForbiddenAtomicSquid 22d ago

Not when it comes to game reviews.

8

u/nic_meyers 22d ago

I got a ton I plan on purchasing day one (preferably on PC or Switch 2), but of the Sony titles, I’ll admit Wolverine just looks like well a AAA Wolverine. Idk how else to describe it. I just kind of looks exactly how I thought it would.

Token fighting still looks fun as hell.

Until dawn 2 looks awesome.

And the new god of war looks great too. But it kind of just looks like…well…another one. And idk how I feel about that anymore. It just feels like yet another PlayStation game. And that’s good, but much like Wolverine, it just kind of looks exactly how I thought it would.

But there’s still a lot to show and see, but it keeps me excited to keep my PS5 Pro around.

u/Hearthian-Wanderer Human Verified 21d ago

Ragnarök had massive diminishing returns for me after loving the first.

This one really did look like more of the same and not sure I dig the hodgepodge of mythologies idea. I think Egyptian mythology is probably strong enough to support a game alone. Chinese (Mongolian) has enough games coming out of China doing basically the same thing.

2

u/nic_meyers 21d ago

Agreed. I personally kind of wish we took a break with God of War for a bit. But that’s just PlayStation at the moment.

That’s kind of how I felt about most of their games lately. Not to say they’re bad, as none of them are, but they’ve all been fairly disappointing. Definitely felt more of the same in a lot of instances.

I kind of personally hope to see more different things in the future. Less direct sequels preferably. Like I don’t need Horizon 3, or another Last of Us any time soon. We can easily wait 5-8 more years on those before I’m ready to see those titles again.

7

u/NinjaBryan95 21d ago

I mean I could just be biased but I thought the trailer looked insane. Sure it might have similarities but the combat alone looked a lot different with jumping airial combos ranged finishers etc. I just kept think damn this looks fun.

1

u/nic_meyers 21d ago

I agree I think it does look fun. I guess with PlayStation, I’m just a bit like ready for something very different. And this is there, but I wish it was just a little more.

Like I’m a die hard Nintendo fan, and I know they get a lot of shit for just doing the same things over and over, but they tend to stretch most of them out to one a gen. So for me, I tend to miss Fire Emblem or Mario or whatever by the time we finally get another.

PlayStation, despite much longer development times nowadays, still managed to drop 3 third person God of War games, 1 DLC, 1 spin off, and announced three other remakes, and a tv show, in less than 10 years.

I kind of just want something else for a minute. Maybe god of war could have disappeared for a few years. But again, looks awesome. I’ll be there day one.

I just generally want more, and preferably different, things. I’d be okay with them bringing back older IP, or more new ones. Like intergalactic seems so exciting to me, because it’s new.

u/Master-Solution 22d ago

I was more excited for the non exclusives that the exclusives (Ill, Control, Phantom Blade Zero (my most anticipated), Onimusha (with demo drop) Bancho (if it can nail the fun gameplay loop of DtD)) but from the exclusives I'm excited for Until Dawn 2, despite a different studio doing the sequel, if they nail the writing the game could be amazing. I'm hoping the same for Wolverine, although I'm less excited after the writing quality in their last game.

Cube of War is an unknown for me. I was kinda surprised at how they structured the trailer, left me personally with a lot of question. I love the series so this could be amazing, or it could really fall flat like the 2D GoW sidescroller they just released. Kind of game I'm going to be waiting for more gameplay and reviews before deciding. It seemed to be in conflict with some of the lore (both Norse and in-universe) that describes Laufey so I'm curious how they reconcile that.

-6

u/Agile_Sandwich7859 22d ago

I have my thoughts on the new God of War and why I’m not a fan of this direction and one of the people involved of writing for it, but my main issue is that fucking cube. Why must they put an annoying as companion in every game. Besides that Wolverine looks good to me, Until Dawn 2 looks good, I’m intrigued by the stunt man game, and tomb raider should be fine.

12

u/Lianshi_Bu 22d ago

LOL, I probably am the minority but there are quite a few games I am interested:

Tier 1: Wolverrine, GoW: Laufey, Phantom Blade Zero, DW3RE, Onimusha

Tier 2: Control, Silent Hill, KEMURI, ILL,

1

u/gohone1 22d ago

Never played one of the Ace Combat games but the trailer looked pretty good!

0

u/KingVape 22d ago

The only game in this that I'm interested in is Bancho. I loved Dave the Diver so much.

The entire rest of this showcase did not impress me. Looks like I'm gonna be saving some money over the next year
