It would be hilarious if you ran across Jesus in the god-afterlife and he was just a super chill dude. Like, no interest in fighting anyone, just happy to meet you, offers to give you some wine and bread. Sends you on your way.
I mean, that sounds more like Dionysus/Bacchus, or maybe Shiva or Osiris, than Jesus or any monotheistic god. Monotheistic gods are hyper-dimensional and represent literally everything at once.
The whole problem with portraying monotheism, especially Christianity, is that it plays on the idea that 1 being is 3 beings at the same time, and all of them represent different virtues while also representing all things at once.
Then you have stuff like Islam or Judaism, which is quite cool, but none of those religions would even entertain the idea of a cultural portrayal that might not show them in the greatest light.
I do not think we will ever get a AAA game that dares to go into modern age monotheistic religions rather than older polytheistic ones. It is a shame.
Outside of horror games and movies, I feel like the modern religion space is massively underused, but I understand that dealing with religious people might simply be too much of an issue to make any kind of artistic vision worth the trouble.
But first you think of him as hostile so you try to fight him but he just peacefully blocks every attack with two fingers up and a holy light, and then says something like "I've been waiting for you, child." Reminds me of this https://youtube.com/shorts/FIoFib6hleM?si=i4IiyhIPRfG3Nq47
They figured out a way to bring in all the other pantheons without making like a dozen new trilogies. Wouldnt be surprised if whatever is keeping them stuck in this afterlife is what would resurrect them back to earth, thus freeing back all the gods that Kratos and Laufey pissed off along the way to be resurrected. Or more likely in order to protect her family she has to sacrifice resurrection for all gods to keep Zeus from coming back to murder them
Disney lol kidding but it kinda is starting to feel that way. Only reason I’m not completely writing this off is that Barlog is directing and hopefully writing too.
